  1. Thanks for the input. Had a look at the old one and there are no serial numbers on it. Completely blank. Im going to visit a couple of well established local bearing suppliers near me with the old one and see if I get any joy. Im getting my engineering mate to swap the collar. He has done it before and has a press, so hopefully it will go ok. 👍
  2. I want to replace the ouput bearing shaft on my s1 Eclat. Ive taken off the old one and was going to order a replacement through SJ. However looking at it, the one Ive taken off looks a lot stronger than Steve's. (More ball bearings). Is the original not available anymore? Does anyone know a supplier or will I have to go with the replacement from Steve? Cheers.
  3. No probs. Best of luck with the search.
  4. Did you see the 2 pods from my Eclat on eBay last week? They didnt sell and Im happy to let you have the nearside one if you want it.
  5. Thanks @Techyd. That's good to know. I didn't realise Esso regular unleaded doesn't contain any Ethanol. Will be filling up at Esso now. I am currently using Shell V power. Expensive but nothing is too good for my old 'babies'!
  6. Glad you got it going. I DO have a spare, So if there are any probs down the line let me know.
  7. Im pretty sure Ive got a spare thats the same as the one in the photo. I can look it out if you want?? Let me know. Cheers.
  8. Just had another thought @Matt-watts had a batch of crash pads made some time ago and I think i read that he was thinking about having another batch made. You could ask him and see.
  9. Don't know if your have thought of this but I went onto last year and managed to pick up my S1 steering wheel from the States. Even with the cost plus the postage fees to the UK it was still cheaper than £500.00. Just a thought.
  10. Hi James, I think you will have to be prepared to shell out. One just went on eBay this weekend for £510.00! Item no. 193977736471 Best of luck with the search.
  11. I have these three on my hallway wall. Company called Golden Era. Loads of different car cards. Good descriptions on the rear. Very reasonable prices. All available.
  12. I am selling my 1980 Eclat as a restoration project for £1500.00 Its a shame to break her, especially seeing as there are so few left. I have put an ad in the classified section so check it out!
  13. ***My Favourite Biker Joke Of The Day**** A little girl was leaning into a lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, all under the eyes of her screaming parents: A biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A BBC reporter, Laura Kuenssberg, had watched the whole event. Laura, addressing the
  14. Just saw this is for sale by auction on Catawiki. 15 days to go Never seen one offered for sale ever. Located in France. ( I have nothing to to with the car or the auction, --- worse luck!) Lotus - Esprit Saint Tropez - 1978 - Catawiki
  15. Hi Guys, Good news! I went down to the garage today to have another go at getting the seized clutch plate to free up. Started her up and waited half an hour as per @Clive59. I maybe left it a bit too long because it started boiling and overflowed out the header tank! Anyway, after that little setback, tried the 'put it in reverse gear (I was in the garage) then turn the starter motor over' method. After jerking it out of the garage, it finally let go and I could drive it properly. Big relief. I didn't really fancy taking the engine out again. I gave it a small run round the block and ever
  16. Thanks @Clive59. I did let it warm up but not for as long as half an hour. I will try that as well when I go down to the garage. Thanks.
  17. Hi Ian, Many thanks for your remedy. Talking to a mate yesterday, he has said exactly the same thing word for word! Im going back to the garage next week so will try it out. Finger crossed. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again. 👍 👍
  18. I was concerned my mate was addicted to drinking brake fluid. He told me he can stop anytime!
  19. Wow. Does sound brutal. Im going to give @Sparky 's idea of towing it and see how I get on. Thanks for the suggestion. It may come to that!
  20. Yes, it selects all gears ok without engine running. Ill go down and have another go with starting it in gear and also pumping the pedal. Hadnt thought of towing. Might be a good idea. I do have a bit of a run. Ill try that if no luck before. Thanks for the suggestion.
  21. ----- Premium rate? ------- Show him you 'gear lever'. Are we talking about the same problem? I have a problem with my car!!
  22. I would have thought this problem has been discussed on here before but I cannot find anything. Its a very true statement that you should run your Lotus regularly. I have driven my Eclat for over 30 years as my everyday driver with no problem. However since getting my S1, the Eclat has not been driven as often and has been sitting in a (damp) garage. Exacerbated by covid restrictions of course meaning I cannot drive either of them as often as I would wish. I thought I had better give the Eclat a run out seeing as it hasnt been out since November. She started up ok, but I couldn
