  1. Thanks for the input.

Had a look at the old one and there are no serial numbers on it. Completely blank. Im going to visit a couple of well established local bearing suppliers near me with the old one and see if I get any joy.

Im getting my engineering mate to swap the collar. He has done it before and has a press, so hopefully it will go ok. 👍

  2. I want to replace the ouput bearing shaft on my s1 Eclat. Ive taken off the old one and was going to order a replacement through SJ. However looking at it, the one Ive taken off looks a lot stronger than Steve's. (More ball bearings).

Is the original not available anymore? Does anyone know a supplier or will I have to go with the replacement from Steve? Cheers.

Hi Williamtherebel  just taking the alternator apart, and cleaned it and back on the car. It’s now charging, wicked, but it’s putting out around 16volts.  Not sure but on my 1986 mini charging reads14.7 volts maximum. So  whether it’s correct on the elite or the voltage regulator is faulty. Off to do some research.

Glad you got it going. I DO have a spare, So if there are any probs down the line let me know.

  4. ***My Favourite Biker Joke Of The Day****
A little girl was leaning into a lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, all under the eyes of her screaming parents:
A biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A BBC reporter, Laura Kuenssberg, had watched the whole event.
Laura, addressing the Harley rider says. "Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.”
The Harley rider replies. "Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.”
Miss Kuenssberg. "Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a BBC journalist, you know and tomorrow's news will run this story. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?”
The biker replies. "I'm a British Army veteran, a Conservative and I voted for Brexit.”
    The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker turns on BBC News to see if it indeed brings news of his actions.
And THAT pretty much sums up the BBC's approach to the news these days....🤣🤣

  5. I would have thought this problem has been discussed on here before but I cannot find anything.

Its a very true statement that you should run your Lotus regularly.

I have driven my Eclat for over 30 years as my everyday driver with no problem. However since getting my S1, the Eclat has not been driven as often and has been sitting in a (damp) garage. Exacerbated by covid restrictions of course meaning I cannot drive either of them as often as I would wish.

I thought I had better give the Eclat a run out seeing as it hasnt been out since November. She started up ok, but I couldnt select ANY gears. Im presuming the clutch plate has 'fused' onto the flywheel with rust. Ive tried 'shocking' it off by putting it in gear before starting the engine, then tried to start the engine. The starter motor is turning over and the car is moving (jerking) but it wont free up. Ive tried on a number of occasions but no luck. Ive also tried waiting until the engine warms up and pushed the clutch pedal up and down a few times but still no luck. I dont really want to have to remove the engine again so has anybody any more ideas how to free it? Cheers.
