  1. :D I can't believe I'm having to make this post.

It's looking increasingly touch and go for me :D

The Monday is the first day Parliament sits after the recess so will be mental and not a good day to be skiving off... and I may well not get permission to do so :)

    SOD THE SICK PLEA ,

JUST PHONE IN ' DEAD' !!!!!!

Can I have the Bridal suite now Fishy ???

1000 bhp on a rib!!!!!! holy cow! I bet that goes

This boat featured in the swedish " Top Gear " prog last week, lots of chopper shots and runs 80 MPH on gps

Birds ,( Not the feathered kind ) without much clothing ( Must have been draughty , poor dears ) were featured on this boat in the unfortunatley named 'Slitz ' magazine recently.

There is a shootout planned with a Porsche soon to be shown on tv.

Lots more outrageous boat ideas in the pipeline.......

    Mike :(

Thanks for the help and advice Guys.

I have booked the beast into esprit Eng. this friday.

Gotta have Waynes taxi fixed ! :)

    Mike :)

  3. Was out today, and had cause to use the power to overtake 30 MPH traffic ( Mobile roadblocks) so quick shifts or two into second from first then down again.

Noticed later that there was a crunch into second .which got worse.

car is a 350 at 26K miles normally a asweet change . clutch changed at 16K by PO.

All shifts are good except second , can select reverse ( Hot ) no prob

Can select second from neutral (standstill, quiet shift)

There is no noise from box bearings that I can determine and if I avoid second and block shift to third and then up there is no probs. Clutch pedal seems to take up at normal position.

I feel that for some strange reason that the synchro hubs and baulks etc have disintigrated on No 2 leaving me with no synchromesh on that gear.

    Is this a common problem?

I have dialled a few words int the 'search' but nothing shows .

Thanks for the response in advance.

    Mike

  4. If you didn't install the quick release how much further away would the wheel be? I thought a hub adapter would take care of that. What quick release kit did you use?

    Eric ,

cannot find the data on the Snap off kit but that is its brand name.

This kit allows the shallow dished wheel to fit just clear of the turn / light stalks.

You will need to drill and tap a few holes to fit , no real trouble.

  7. Mike ,

Sounds similar. Out of interest how loud was it ? at 1st mine sounded a bit loud and heavy to be a tappet but it did go and wasn't there the next morning so thats all i can assume it was

    thanks Andy

    Andy,

Really only a loud tappet sound, I wouldnt call it a knock like a small end or piston slap.

The engine generally is very quiet for its capacity and performance so the small noises stand out.

    Mike

  8. Cheers, Fishy.

I will help your brain with a little John Mc Lauchlin/ Ravi Shankar! Try "Shakti".

    Mike

was this the John Mc who was in the "mahuvishni orchestra"?

The very same, very inventive guy in his own genre. The duel with Mc L and L Shankar is special as is the amplified violin on the album.

    Mike.

  9. Mike - you've turned into a metaller!!!! You should try Metallica's Black Album (I'll sort you out a copy - just remind me!!)

    Cheers, Fishy.

  10. Thanks Mike,

Its just had its first 'HARD' run today ,without cats and with new oxygen sensor and well its fast!

The tickover still stays at about 1300- 1500 and then slowly drops to about 950-1000after a few seconds. This all sounds relatively normal.

What is more worrying is that the clutch feels like its slipping. It may just be that in 9 months it hasnt done much or that something is wrong .Either that or the wheels could be spinning in the first 3 gears on 3/4 to full throttle. Its only done 24k so I hope its the latter.

Thanks for everybodies input on the tickover issue.

    Richard

I dont like building the revs and dropping the clutch in any car let alone the V8.

However once rolling the other day I floored the throttle changing quickly to second and the tyres lit up through sheer torque in second. so could have been that same scenario in your car?

    Mike

    Mike

    PS,

As a total contrast , I heard Tool "10,000 Days" playing in a record store, and thought these guys are saying something and bought it !

Schoolmate of mine is promoting some band called Hussey.

Went to there website and had a look/listen and wondered WTF he was thinking (probably $$$$$$) :(

  12. I'm sick of the GM wheel. I tried to order a nice Raid suede wheel from TMtuning. Lets just say it didn't work out. Does anyone know if the hub set from JAE can be used on wheels (like Momo's) that require holes to be drilled for mounting? In other words drill holes ( usually six) in the wheel to match up to the hub. Or is it just a center nut type of deal. I know Jim's hub set is good for Raid wheels.

    Thanks

I fitted a Momo wheel with a Snap off kit to space for correct standoff.

  13. My 98V8's handbook reads:

"V8 Models: Engine idle speed is controlled electronically by the engine management computer, and is normally about 850 rpm, although on initial return to idle, an engine speed of 1100 rpm will be maintained for 20 seconds before slowly decaying to 850 rpm. If the idle is disturbed by throttle pedal movement, the raised idle and decay sequence will be re-applied.

An uprated idle speed is required under certain operating conditions including when the a.c. is operating, and during the engine warm up phase, when the raised idle helps to speed the time taken for the catalytic converter to reach operating temperature, as well as to aid rapid demisting, and inhibit stalling. Idle speed will return to normal automatically when the engine has warmed sufficiently.

Mine also as above....... but never drops to 850 stays at 950 +
