  1. Nice to see 'Dad' right up there near the top Kimbers. Ed
  2. The original GT40 was one of my favorite cars as a kid when I first saw them race. I always loved the overall design and performance characteristics. I'm really glad to see Ford has put this into production, although limited. I doubt if I will ever be able to afford one. Sounds like you had a great time Bibs. What a thrill! Ed
  3. Sounds like a great trip Angus. Love the photo. I would love to tour my Lotus around Europe. And yes, more photos please. Ed
  4. Iain, It looks like NEW from the pics. Absolutely beautiful. And I agree about the silver. Very nice! Ed
  5. Al, I just bought a four-post lift a couple of months ago from America's Pride. Do not order from this company! They were terrible to work with, and didn't return my calls or emails, when the lift didn't arrive when stated. And beware of lowball companys. Most of these lifts are made in China and poorly designed. When you need something fixed, you better take care of it yourself. Mine was missing parts, manual, and had a stripped hex head on one of the pulleys as well as a damaged drip pan. It was a lot of work to sort it all out. They were awful to work with. NEVER do business with America's Pride. I can tell you more, but out of time right now . . . Backyard Buddy makes the best one, but many $$$$ unfortunately. Ed
  6. Hope you had a great Birthday Bibs. Ed
  7. Katie, so sorry to hear about the rear ender. I hope your neck pain goes away soon and doesn't materialize into something worse. Two months after my wife got her MX5, someone hit her while she was parked. Didn't leave a note or anything, so we had to pay for the repair. Although relatively minor, she was devastated. It's hard to find you at fault with a rear end collision. It's usually the driver that hit you. Let's hope this chap is on the up and up. Although saying "it will wipe off with a damp cloth" may be a look into his character, he may have just been a bit rattled and just trying to make it seem like less than it really was. I hope all works out. Ed
  8. I do my first track day this Friday at P.I.R. (Portalnd International Raceway). I'll be in an intermediate class, as I have passed the Pro Drive intoduction to racing class at that very track. It's a nice 1.9 mile track, pretty flat, with 9 turns. This will be with the Club Lotus Northwest, and it can be called more of a "test and tune" day. There is no passing except on the two straightaways, and safety is really stressed. No one wants to have any mishaps . . . However, one never knows. Pictures like that NSX really concern me. I would be devastated. Ed
  9. Happy Birthday Kelly. From the other side of the pond. Ed
  10. Welcome to the Forum Gary. Lots of good information here and on LEW to help you in your selection. My daily driver is a 5 series, but the Turbo Esprit really makes me smile. Happy hunting. Best wishes, Ed
  11. Thanks Bigsi. I agree that would be nice to have. Money and time, however, may not allow that at this time. And I may look into that sort of set up down the road . . . But if I were to go with handheld extinguishers mounted in the cabin and the engine compartment, does anyone have any suggestions or photos they would like to share. Thanks, Ed
  12. *I know this has been discussed before, but my search doesn't turn up much. Before heading out to a Track Day, I would like to mount a Fire Extinguisher in the cockpit as well as the engine compartment. The interior space is pretty limited, so I'm wondering what most of you have used as far as size of extinguisher, and placement. I don't want to be drilling any unnecessary holes in the cabin or the boot. As a former firefighter, I have seen the potential of small fires, and I have also seen how effective a fire extinguisher can be, when used quickly, and efficiently. Any photos and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ed
  13. The Silver Esprit SE used in the filming of Pretty Woman just sold on EBAY for $30,000 USD. Not a bad price for a car driven by Richard Gere and Julia Roberts and viewed by millions. I thought it would bring more. I think it's only a matter of time before they start appreciating. I'm not too worried however, as I don't plan on selling mine anytime soon, if ever. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...p;rd=1&rd=1 Ed
  14. Kate, I bought my wife an '06 Maxda MX5, and it's her everyday driver. She LOVES it. And on that rare occasion when I get to drive it, it's a hoot! Very well balanced, light, perfect steering, and predictable. One of the most fun cars to drive in my opinion. Very livable. My daily driver is a 528i BMW wagon. Suits me well as I like a car that handles well, is comfortable, and still has cargo space. But the Esprit Turbo puts the grin on my face that takes a while to get rid of. And that's true even when it's just standing still in the garage. They are beautiful rolling sculptures. Ed
  15. Hey there James. Idaho isn't too far from Oregon. A summer drive may be in order. Welcome to the forum. Hope you get some driving in while your'e off. Best wishes, Ed
  16. Wish I could be there guys. I can't think of a more wonderful gift, than to give of your time and your money for a friend in need. Ed
  17. Welcome to a great forum Katie! Lots of friendly folks here alright with a tremendous Lotus Esprit knowledge base and a great sense of humor. I've found it very helpful and entertaining. Best wishes and a beautiful car you have. From the other side of the pond, Ed
  18. Great Photo Ibandre. Glad to hear you had a blast. The car looks great! Ed
  19. Beautiful pictures Paul! I've been on that drive, many years ago, as a group of us went backpacking in the Big Sur area. Very picturesque. Your V8 looks great! Thanks for sharing and inspiring the rest of us to seek out the 'Great Drives'. Well, back to the Spanish Gran Prix. Ed
  20. Welcome to the forum Greg! And yes, upload some pictures when you get a chance. We'd love to see it. Ed
  21. Congratulations Artie! Back in the saddle again! Ed
  22. They claim to have documentation. Who knows. If it is the one in the movie, the provenance could bring the price up pretty high, but I'm not sure EBAY is the best venue. These are the types of cars that seem to bring the big dollars at the Barrett-Jackson auctions, from my experience. It will be fun to watch and see what it goes for. It would be a nice one to own. But my wife would kill me so . . . . Maybe not. Ed
  23. I got the same response: Service temporarily unavailable I think she's a tad bit too young maybe . . . . Or I need to download the game. Ed
  24. Happy Birthday Louise! Jimmi and Troy - you're killin' me with Burt and comments! LOL Ed
  25. And a big Happy Birthday to you too Chandra. I'm sure your SE will be gorgeous! I know how hard it is to wait as I have a '63 TR-4 in the shop for body work and paint. They told me it would take about 3 weeks. My biggest mistake was to tell the body shop "no rush" as it's not my daily driver . . . . What a fool I be. It's been over three months, and they've barely touched it! So it goes. I hope you had a great day too. Happy 40th! And the smiles will keep on coming when you're back in the seat of the Esprit. Ed
