    Really sad that people are getting their parties in a wad with the US spec GT being posted here especially with all the work and money that’s been dumped into it. yea technically it’s not one but who really cares..... then again I live in the states and hope to get a GT this spring since that’s our only option.

    I watched the 5min version of the head 2 head video, for those of us who do not have the paid motor trend channel I think it’s all we can presently watch. the 5 min version was pointless, not worth watching. Camaro threw a belt before anything could be tested. Hopefully the long version will be available for everyone to watch soon
  3. I have read that before, I just wonder how much of it is lotus marketing.... or if the GT/430 wheel are vents make up the bulk of the additional front downforce? &/or if adding a splitter to the 400 front end would balance the 430 spoiler.

    TLF GT430 Club it’s their laters version of a slotted rotor which is what I figured many do state drilled crack, I had AP Racing drilled rotors on my last car, never a issue with cracking however being a Saab, also nowhere close to a track car!

    For those of us here in the states, what makes those “j” hooks better then stock GT rotors? is it just their version of slotting or are they lighter? Or both?

Again thanks everyone for their input! yesterday I had to head out of town for work, just happened to have lotus dealer where I went and also a gulia and Stelvio quad for me to check out, lotus dealership was the same same one I went to last fall, they had a e 400 that I took for a spin. Sales person was a great guy and a lotus fan however not so familiar with the evora. He told me back then that the evora 400 was the last evora. Seeing him yesterday he apologized and stated he wasn’t told anything in regards to the evora 400 replacement. He said he didn’t even know when they were getting the GT in and he assumed it would be a few months before they are here in the states. He was totally shocked when I said numerous dealerships have had them for a while now. ‘Thursday I stopped by a local dealership/service shop , they had a exige I wanted to sit in/look at. Turns out the owner is a HUGE lotus fan, stated they started their company due to lotus cars however there isn’t enough on the streets to pay bills so he is more into Ferrari and Lamborghini now. He owns a highly modified exige, stated 500-520 whp and they are about to compound charge it for closer to 700 whp, and it weight under 2,000 lbs with driver..... it’s his race car! He had lots of great things to say and offered to find me a used or new evora 400/GT. He stated they have done warranty work in the past and that most dealerships in the states do more harm then good for the brand, they just do not know the cars. Anyways, Alfa.... didn’t take either for a drive and actually preferred sitting in the Stelvio vs gulia, seemed easier to get in/out and might work better for me at work. however, I want a lotus.... so that’s the direction I will go. Going to send a few dealers a message and see what they can do on a evora GT, light on the options to keep the price more reasonable. I am leaning towards the standard red & carbon pack... I really like numerous other colors however for me not sure it’s worth the extra money.

  9. I just talked to my insurance agent, they quoted me $3,200 a year for the lotus or $1,200 a year for the Alfa, both seasonal use Any suggestions of more affordable lotus insurance? I have been leaning towards the lotus however insurance is a bit more then I expected. my problem with the 911 and m2.... even though they are great is they are EVERYWHERE.....

I do agree with any low volume vehicle it’s kinda a crapshoot on what we get, however from everything I have read with the evora being at the end of its life cycle, the majority of the bugs have been corrected. If I had to pay $2k plus for a 30k mile service, I would rather pay $5k or so every xx,000 miles + for a new clutch. One of the things that draws me to the evora (thanks JayEmm) is that even though it’s pretty close to a exotic..... it doesn’t come with exotic car maintenance like the F cars. The Toyota engine is a big plus for me while the Ferrari derived turbo 6, as sweet as it sounds is scary with what that can cost. Dealership wise, I have a shop less then 2 hours away which always seems to get excellent reviews. Gator Motorsports is their name... also another closer dealership MAGcars (Midwestern Auto Group) which is just over a hour away, however they aren’t a lotus enthusiast shop..... I think it’s more just because they can and want to sell 9+ different makes of cars under one roof thanks again everyone.....
  11. Thanks for the info/opinions/etc...... I have been doing a bit of reading/research on the Alfa and wow.... one dealership I was looking at had 8 gulia quads and two Stelvio quads..... according to their fee auto check that comes with each vehicle, I looked at the history of 6 quad’s and everyone one was a lemon! Some were claimed as a lemon with less then 4,000 miles on their clock. also saw a thread where the 30k mile service is $2,000+, the evora is looking better and better and is the car I want, just trying to look at it somewhat rationally, is it worth 2x the price? Seems like most reliability issues are a thing of the past with the evora..... while from what I have seen the Alfa it will be never ending. Plus expensive service costs.....
  12. I am car shopping and my two top picks are the lotus evora 400 or a Alfa Gulia Quad, Amy suggestions be it good or bad on either car? Looking for something to use almost as a daily driver, either car will not see winter/snow driving however the other 9 or so months of the of the year it would be used. There are a few leftover new 400’s that I have my eye on, I want the carbon hatch and if possible the carbon roof as well as manual trans in the Lotus. the Alfa obviously is a auto and gains back seats which I do not really need. This car I would purchased used, they seem to be close in the low $40k USD range for a used low mile example. While I figure the e400 would be twice that price or a little more. Biggest thing that scares me with the Alfa is it’s engine, expensive service/repair bills.... while the evora just the $80-$90k price scares me..... that’s what I assume I could get one for? I have spent time driving both cars however my time beihind the wheel of the lotus was shorter. Very impressed with both cars..... thanks for any any input

Wouldn’t different alignment specs, springs/shocks and tires result in a big difference in feel between the 400 and GT? i would think just a newer set of the same tires can make a big change in steering feel as well as handling on any car To me the only advantage the c8 has over the GT/400 is that it can hold two sets of golf clubs vs one in the lotus. Then again since I haven’t played golf in years it isn’t really a advantage for me! Then there is the looks of the back of the c8...... Ken2020 - wow... stunning car!
  14. i Look at it that lotus has just been to financially strapped to spend big marketing/advertising over here. Not that they don’t want to, simply can’t afford it. Same thing with fitting air bags to the Elise/exige, just costs to much for a old platform that doesn’t sell to well over here.... I own my own business and have been in that situation for the last 10 years, I need to advertise to stay alive (I own a funeral home) however being a small family owned business I do not have deep pockets like the big guys. Thus for me I had to bite my time until the right situation arose.... I feel Lotus is in a similar situation, very difficult for the little guy to advertise, market themself or spent big money making a old platform legal in the states. Even though the release of the evora GT seems to be a flop with how it was handled..... I think and hope these as well as other issues are all in the past with the new owner and deeper pockets.

I have thought for many years the Elise/exige were fragile not due to how they perform in a accident, but how a small incident (running over a small object in the road or slop speed tap) can cause a very expensive repair bill due to clam replacement. Always assumed these cars were well constructed, feel most sports cars who are track focused are designed to protect the driver. The number of times you see a Ferrari or Lamborghini where the engine is separated from the safety cell shows how they are designed to dissipate energy. Great to read/see the evora also falls into this category... Just totally sucks I have to save up more money before I can get one..... ugh..... Koenigsegg also used the same car for multiple crash tests, they stated it saved them millions doing it this way
  16. I have no issues with Lotus, been waiting on specs of the GT to be released before I decide to go that direction or a 2018, I like all the carbon bits..... i have no clue On that dealership in Florida, at autotrader there were a handful under $40k. Yes a few at $70k

Here is a 400 at msrp, there are numerous others Here is a evora under $40k clean title (according to add) and low miles, under 10k Here is a $69k 400 The GT to me isn’t a new car, it’s just a evolution of the platform. Obviously we can compare them to whatever we want, comparing full msrp to a model that we do not even know all the specs for bs the street price on a model that seems to have a hard time selling.... Well that’s a big bummer! Crazy that they are still working on crash standards/regulations with the car when it’s suppose to be stateside in a few months. I read it was like $30k for the ohlins suspension..... w/o that rear spoiler and updated front end, not sure where the added cost comes from. 30hp isn’t worth a $10k or so premium..... sounds like the car will be very difficult for dealers to move....
  18. Which shows how overpriced the 400 is at $85k or so when you can get a evora for under $40k one would expect with how these cars sell, a new GT will be similarly discounted. As someone stated with the new c8 hitting the showrooms soon and with the price of many of the P cars.... tough sell at full MSRP, I just doubt the new GT will be sold at or anywhere close to sticker. The evora has never been a $100k plus car despite its MSRP putting it there. I don’t see how you can compare prices on 1-2 yr old used 400’s and only consider new GT car at MSRP. Does anyone ever pay full msrp for a evora? Why would that suddenly change?
  19. Autotrader, DuPont registry etc is where I am looking. Not really sure how you can compare MSRP of a vehicle that isn’t on out streets yet vs a 2-3 yr old model that’s being now being sold used. Yes, you can get a 207 evora 400 for under $60k if you look hard enough, however that’s a few years old and USED. If you look at a new 2018 400 and it’s sticker/msrp, typically $105k-$124k will be the price range. The evora 400 that I considered buying a few months back had a $119,700 sticker, which is now at $105k. Yes these cars are being discounted however if you are looking at msrp of the GT you need to do the same for the 400. One would expect if you can get 10-20% off a 400, you should be able to do the same with a GT. where did you see a new 2018 400 with a $90k sticker? Not talking about asking price but a no option msrp price.
  20. That’s not my understanding of the GT its not just a 400 with aero, closer to a 410 with additional aero and suspension bits,. Can you even get a 400 with no options at $90k? Every one that I see seems to be stickered at $110k-$125k
  21. Here in the states the 400 has a carbon pack 2 option which i believe is approx $13,000 USD and includes the CF roof and tailgate For around $5,000 carbon pack 1 is just the tailgate plus $2,000 if you want the black pack. I took a 18 evora 400 for a spin at which had the CF 2 option

    Evora GT430

    I called Boe Fab last week to discuss power upgrades in a yet to be purchased Evora and a week or so before that a local-ish Lotus dealership in regards to the 400 and 430. they both stated at this time the manual is a much stronger trans especially for track use Boe did state they are working on a kit which is suppose to improve the auto trans. No clue what it improves and if it makes this option stronger
