  1. Great review! As ever some errors... the 390 doesnt have Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, it has PS4 - the non-S variety. But that's a detail... I did love to read this! So true... 'cos when you know, you really do know. But you have to drive one to know. "...as ever when you fire up an Exige and flow it through a corner or three, you forget all the details and simply become absorbed in one of the most thrilling driving experiences around. Even today, in the era of the consecrated Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and Alpine A110, there’s nothing else that makes you so keenly aware of the physics involved, nor gives you the same pulsating feedback through unassisted steering and a beautifully stiff chassis."
  2. The 68-reg red press car that was used in the Evo COTY article was used heavily in winter on salty roads in many articles. The salt will take its toll in a way that many many high days and holidays cars may never see. That's all. As i understand it Lotus Press cars are stripped and fettled before being sold on so mechanically it should be a peach.
  3. Where is the car? What is the mileage? What reg is it? I wonder if it is a press car that will have enjoyed an active life….
  4. I'd say simply that adding a polished rim makes the visual a little 'busy' for a car that has no other silver trim. Also, IMO it makes the wheels look smaller by interrupting the interface between the wheel and the tyre. PLUS they are much more costly to repair if curbed and they can only be re-cut a limited number of times. Not curbing wheels solves that though.
  5. That will look fab! Although I’d skip the diamond cut edge for many reasons.
  6. what a stunner! nice booty too eh @C8RKH?

I totally agree Ade. My Exige 410 is all th ebetter because of the noise it makes. Its a tiny car with a huge presence both inside and out.

    Morse Code...

Give the marketing guys some credit. They are generating some gossip in our little world. All power to them.

    Morse Code...

or Princess. are cars not 'she'? -- if a non-neutral pronoun is even a thing anymore :-)
  15. I find it a bit of a mate... so many drives are out of bounds. @alias23 sells a very useful kit to protect the underside from damage due to scrapes. But it won’t stop you catching the splitter.
  16. Yes i did a number of times. was very unnerving. Turns out these switches are very temperamental especially if you have tried to heel and toe - as i was told. They can cut power to the engine if the switch senses pressure on the brake. Not good for H&T. Also, they can quickly move out of tune to cause the total power loss. Happened on my new (130 mile) exige 350. Lotus were epic about it. Both Central Lotus (supplying dealer) in Nottingham and Lotus HQ/Warranty team were on it like flies and had the car back and sorted in a flash.
  17. I had the same behaviour on my 350 sport when new. Brake sensor switch was replaced and it never happened again. Good luck.
  18. The sport 410 is quicker round the same circuit that the 981 GT4 which was only available as a manual. Sure the 718 GT4 has more power so should be quicker but by how much? interestingly the 997 GT2 RS was slower than the 410 Sport too. That was also a manual only car but I doubt it was wearing the Cup 2 tyres that make such a difference.
  19. Incidentally I piqued my own interest so counted the great changes at 20 in the Exige lap. I suspect therefore that 0.5 secs per gear change is a bit long else it would have annihilated the other two. Still the manual box will be slower.
  20. I suspect the semi-auto box makes a big difference. That why porsche always fits the PDK to its GT cars for recording lap times. Not sure how much the PDK is worth but I suspect it could be 0.5 of a second per gear change which is reflected in Porsche’s own 0-62 times for its manual and PDK GT cars. I didn’t count the number of gear changes in that lap but assuming it is 6 or more then some of the disparity can be reasoned. In summary I’d happily have all three of those cars in my collection and I can imagine I’d get good use from them all.
  21. Congrats! Fire Red is a stunning choice. Ah the wait is murder!
  22. That would kill any desire i might have to change my 2019 410 for a Final Edition 420/430. The noise is so much of the experience for me and to my ears it is perfect. Good luck sorting it out.
