  3. Lotus has rarely been the last word in pace. If you really want to go fast, TBH a Golf R with a tune would probably leave most “sports cars” for dead, and you’d save a heap of money. From there, the next step up in pace is a GT3, SF90 or hyper car or whatever those silly things are called. Things where all the driving is done by computers. Unless one is an absolute driving god or taking their car on track ALL the time chasing the last tenth, beyond a certain point more pace is meaningless. What you get from an Evora 4xx or the Emira is IMHO plenty for public roads and most tracks. What you get in spades over aforementioned Golfs or hypercars is a HUGE smile on your face. An ideal Emira to me would lose 80-100kg, return to NA power and thus lose 100bhp, plus be 2+2. In other words, a like for like replacement of my Evora S1. One thing I love about my Evora is I can touch the throttle without instantly losing my licence. So yes, I’m saying I’d actually rather the Emira had a SLOWER version, as it would be more fun at road legal speeds.
  4. I’m constantly surprised Italy have the mental capacity for penalties. It must be exhausting looking for real or imaginary objects to trip over for 120 minutes.

  6. As an Aussie, I'd normally take no greater pleasure than watching English hearts break... BUT also as an Aussie, I will NEVER, EVER forgive those cheating Italian play actors for robbing us in the 2006 World Cup, so just this once... Go England!!
  7. Agree with @C8RKH… Emira looks great and will undoubtedly be a great drive. A thought on Evora values: if Emira increases OVERALL demand for Lotus products, then residuals will probably hold. It is ultra rare too. I doubt it will go up in value like old Ferraris though, since at a certain point someone would rather have an Emira. Also, on potential for success: Evora was launched around the GFC, and some governments tried to use austerity measures to claw their way out of it. History tells us that was a terrible idea. Although Emira is launching in a pandemic, the fact that Keynesian economics is being used (i.e. stimulus) suggests a better chance of strong sales if Lotus can reach people. Time will tell!
  8. I've got Michelin PSS on mine. They're the previous generation PS4S, so still a better performance tyre than PS4.
  9. Manual. No contest. IMO the joy of throttle blips on downshifts has little to do with sound and a lot to do with achievement. The computer doing it is just Yawn to me.
  10. As above, simple really. Unless you’re better at setting up the ride and handling of a car than Lotus (!), best not to mess with the factory settings!
  11. I assume the part number gives it away, but is fitment of the Lotus Sports exhaust by Janspeed (non-valved) identical between Exige S V6 and NA Evora? I.e. is it interchangeable?
  12. Have you tried different seat positions in the car? I find I sit closer to the steering wheel of the Evora than in other cars to feel comfortable. Possibly the pain is from extending the knee too straight, or alternatively from not extending it enough?
  13. The shortage for vehicle manufacturers dates back to a decision they made to cancel orders at the start of the pandemic. Those orders were quickly soaked up by consumer electronics as the demand for those skyrocketed in lockdown. It’s unlikely this would have impacted Lotus’ inventory since they’re so low volume, so the question comes back to whether they knew the systems they would put in Emira a couple of years ago in which case they may have chips in stock… or else they’re just as screwed as everyone else

  16. As a serial used car buyer, I would NEVER buy a used DCT. In Australia at least, when the car is listed as auto, it is driven like one… creeping… riding clutch to stay still on a slope… etc I'm exclusively buying manuals for now, but if I ever did buy a used auto it would be a torque converter…

  18. Out of curiosity, for those who have the carbon slatted engine cover… does it have gaps that allow crap from outside into the engine bay?
  19. As others have said, I think it’s as unfair to criticise the experience before the Emira comes out, as it was when a motoring mag handed the Golf VIII R a “top 10 all time” hot hatch place before it had even been driven…

  22. Aren’t the vast majority of Lotuses ever made the Elise or Exige? I wouldn’t be surprised if many survive, given how rarely they are actually driven (at least in Australia).
  23. ^^ this. I’ve got the Covercraft one in sunny Oz and it is absolute light years ahead of other shades I’ve used in the past for quality. Fits perfectly too. IMO it’s worth it to protect a car as special as an Evora...
  24. I’d have thought a sports pack is a must on a Lotus, even to Sir Colin... the doughy throttle in normal mode (and lower redline) is very frustrating in a sports car!
