I think some of the later model Evoras might get squeezed a touch in the short term m, but S1 cars will probably benefit from the extra attention to the marque. My 2p!

Just about as positive a review as I’ve seen Chris Harris give - really positive for the Emira given the size of the audience. Interesting there were no specific shots of the interior - clearly a pre production model and that was the condition of shooting. Anyone know if it was a tour or sport chassis?

I won’t be driving mine on a track so quite happy to completely discount the EVO track review and share Harry’s excitement at just getting behind the wheel and blasting it down a deserted B road. It’s a beautiful looking car and the V6 sounds superb so still very much looking forward to taking delivery in November.
I just read the Evo track review in the magazine. Sounded pretty fair enough to me, not biased. They wanted to like the car. Possibly some combo of LSD and the Goodyear tyres that made it a bit understeery? Quite a few other reviews have hinted at the same thing.
Does seem like Lotus has veered into BMW territory of being very spec sensitive!
If I was ordering, think it would be tour/Goodyear/no LSD!

There's a lot of doom and gloom in this thread, but I don't think it's merited from the reviews I've read / watched. All of them have said the Emira is, at the very least, 'good' (I've not watched the Evo video). And that's by 2022's very high standards, with a pre-production review car, often with the wrong chassis for the testing conditions.
Matt Prior's autocar film might be a good cure for insomnia, but he basically puts the Emira at the same level overall as the GTS, which if you read any of the reviews for it when it came out, was literally THE BEST SPORTSCAR EVER MADE OMG OMG JIZZ EVERYWHERE. So if the Emira can be considered in the same breath as that then it's done pretty well IMO.
And the most important thing, really, is the order book. If Emira was selling like late Evora, you could kiss goodnight to the idea of ever having another Lotus sportscar. It would be SUVs and saloons until we're all wormfood.
So lighten up folks. If you've ordered an Emira, it's a better all round car than the Evora. If you've got an Evora, it's still just as good to drive as it ever was.
And those full order books mean the chances of a lightweight Emira with either tuned V6 or i4 up to mid 400s are pretty good. That WILL be an exciting car.

And Autocar’s review……can’t really say?! - I’d almost lost the will to live by the time he was done!!😴
Agreed - I normally like Matt Prior but here it was like he was trying to send us all to sleep. Phoned in video content if ever there was.

One interesting question is what chassis Lotus specced for the press cars…
I think they’ll have gone with sport, but let’s see!
-
I reckon that sounds about right - although the engine comments only apply to the 4.0 flat six in the Cayman GTS. The Toyota V6 should easily beat the Cayman fours which all journos hate.

Embargo lifts midday tomorrow I think.
How's this thread going to react if everyone hates it? 🤣
-
Yep, it’s an NA. Not many S’s around sub £35k atm.
-
Wow - that’s awful luck with the engines. Hopefully you’ve got a sorted one now!

Would have been easier to part-ex for a Sport 410 wouldn't it? But still - love this project!
-
I don't think this car would hold up particularly well to a close inspection tbh.
-
I suspect that car might be quite tatty upon closer inspection.

I'd expect it to be a little quicker than that - my Porsche 911 40 Jahre is quoted at 16.5 secs for 0-200, and that's got 345bhp and less torque (similar weight). My Evora S feels quicker than the 911 and the Emira has got more grunt again.
-
What kind of Evora do you fancy? Something soft and plush to complement the Exige, or a fast and exciting one? As Jep said if it's the latter you're after the Sport 410 at Silverstone is a corker.
-
Yes - given it's literally *THEIR WHOLE JOB*, you would have thought tyre fitters would take some pride in getting the pressures or wheel nut torques right...?! It's like a doctor deciding to randomly allocate doses of drugs, or an engineer not bothering to do the maths on the joist they're putting up...
My book pressures are 35/38 - I hadn't realised that they were lower on subsequent tyres. I'll be changing to PS4S in due course, I'll do some research on sidewall stiffness to work out whether I can run them a bit lower.

Just seen this thread - how disappointing you didn't get any response the first time round! I've had surprise snap oversteer on my Evora S twice, once I caught it (on the road) and once I didn't (on track, on cold tyres). Both were with sport mode switched on. Both times were coming out of a corner with a too heavy right foot in 2nd gear.
I know what you mean about lift off oversteer in front engined, FWD hatches - but the Evora doesn't *feel* like it would do that to you in those situations quite as easily.
Glad you're loving the 400! What inspired you to take the pressures down to 30PSI-ish? I've assumed that with that much weight over the back and on 20" rims there you need the higher pressure given how low profile the tyre is.

Hi Guys,
This is my car - happy to answer any questions. It’s a fabulous thing but my obsession with elderly BMWs has got the better of me and I just wasn’t using the Lotus. I usually have stuff I can tinker with and the lotus doesn’t tick that box.
Don’t think anyone should worry about it being an ex press car - I’ve fixed a few niggles in my ownership under warranty and Silverstone have given it a clean bill of health (I have the bill to prove it!) B&C refreshed all the gear linkage mechanism for me and it’s had a recent geo and new tyres. It is pin sharp to drive.
Cheers
Noticed Lotus Silverstone have it on their site at £56k now - absolute bargain!

What's the difference between this early Excel and later models?
-
Nice spec! It's hard making those decisions isn't it?! I've fancied an Emira but couldn't for the life of me work out the best way of speccing it
What made you choose the sports suspension setup? Have you driven an Evora? The word was that touring was similar to S1 setup, and sports more like a 400. But not sure if that's accurate or not.

@NotSoQuick Nice choice on the magma red for the Emira! Did you go for black pack, and what interior did you go for?
-
What's with the silver door handles? I've not seen those before.

Yanni off the CarWow drag races? How do you think he affords his fleets of supercars?!
