    Lotus Emira

Aha, wait until I post the video in here tomorrow 😛 I can tell you it was an orange Exige 410 Sport. Er, mixed feelings!
  2. Great comments. If seems like this is going to be a struggle for Lotus, as even hardcore Lotus fans on here are pessimistic about their chances. In which case, as correctly said, those who currently hardly even know about Lotus are very unlikely to put their money into one, never mind one that might be perceived as relatively expensive. When in doubt, people will opt for the perceived 'safe' choice. This is, and will likely always be, German marques. I can't see the Emira being good enough in enough areas to beat them. I am not convinced being the most powerful car in the sector will make much difference. I think a lo of you will disappointed with the standard power at launch. I am not convinced being the best built, most comfy, most economical, technically advanced and best sounding car in the sector will make much difference. Therefore, I believe this is actually down to a Brand play. It is about selling the experience of Lotus. They have to go back to Basic Marketing 101. They need to project the car as so hot and desirable that it transcends common purchase sense and backs it up with an experience, which is actually true to the core Lotus ethos. How? Yes, they do need to get Influencers on board (they have most of the power now, like it or not) Splash out on some amazing promo videos in stunning locations Broker ideas with celebrities. Place the car in movies | Bond baddie, Bourne, John Wick, Need for Speed, Matrix 4, whatever. Sell Ads on F1 TV slots Do some crazy stunts in them - have a stuntman jump one over 12 Caymans | Parachute a Union-Jacked Emira out of a transport plane onto a small island. Play the anti-establishment, anarchic, stick it to the man, game. "Electric is coming. Before you sell your soul , get in the new Lotus Emira" Get invites out to every passionate petrol head out there to drive the car, have experience days. Lastly. Yes, the finance offer needs to be red hot as that is how most people now pay and play. Come on Lotus.

Oh yes!!! I did a casual video of the experience. I will put it up soon. Bad news, but expected. The Emira does not have vertical opening doors 😀

OK, cool. I ride there a LOT, then off to Rykas then Loomies. Cheers.

Ha, OMG. An early, poorer quality, foul-mouthed, immature and over excited old video when I first started riding motorcycles after my 3rd midlife crisis . Apologies. But... looky looky... B&C - as mentioned. 😃

    Lotus Emira

Well... them.. of course I have ridden past it many times on cycle club rides and on my motorcycles. I will finally actually park up and take a proper look close up. I have heard good things about B&C so was more than happy to have them take my money. Just down the A3 for me.

Manual!! But I will accept anything they have to get a flavour of the modern Loti. Am down there tomorrow at 10.00AM if anybody else wants to meet up. I will report back!

I have sent them a demonstrator request. Thinking a 400+HP Exige or Evora is the way forward. I certainly love the way these cars sound. Been watching a lot of youtube video content on the 430 Cup, etc.

I have to admit, I have never heard it! Inside or out. All I do know is that my RS3 was auralgasmic but it was modified a touch (stock exhaust - but we are talking aout engines) Ha, you know what... I clearly need to go out in a Lotus. Not been in one for almost 20 years!!! Which one should I ideally go in to get the true flavour of a modern Lotus? Bell & Colvil Surrey are my nearest dealer I believe. Certainly easiest to get to. Umm, I will call them, might be able to get down there this week.
  10. I'd like the Emira to sound good stock but I am already of the mind that I will change the system, The latest round of exhaust compliance can surely only have made things worse. I mention sound, and my disappointment of the McLarens because the other cars on my list include the GT3, Huracan/Gallardo Limited Editions or 458/Manual F430. Tone is a big thing for me and on the basis that, on the road, I will rarely dynamically get to extract the most from the chassis/suspension, then the aural nature of the car is perhaps my #1 wish!
  11. Yes, that is the bit I am concerned about. Not been in an Evora but wasn't sold on the looks when it came out but have grown to like it since. I suspect the Emira. by design, will be a bit milder but it might still be epic relative to the other cars I was looking. At the very least, the hype on the Emira has opened my eyes to the Lotus brand and if the Emira does not pan out right then I am now keenly looking at the later, more potent Exige cars like the 430 Cup, etc.
  12. They might be able to tell us more in person at Goodwood. If this is all part of a stepchange for the Lotus brand then their whole marketing arm should be forward thinking and have all our wishes in place. Indeed, we will be able to gauge how far Lotus have come, and their ambitions, by how they deal with us all now.
  13. Was the adjustable Nitro suspension on the leerier Exige versions an option or a standard fit? That would be cool - or a Ferrari-esuq 'bumpy road' mode.

Oh god, Yes please. If I had a free engine choice, I might go for the 5cyl out of the RS3 - sounds amazing and good for high 400s HP with extra fettling. Either way, being a turbo, the 4-cyl will have a lot of extra HP room but only if Lotus have built in a super driveshaft/gearbox that can take it. Like I did with a couple of cars, could you unplug the lead in the engine bay of the Evora/Exige to have the car loud all the time? If the Emira is a touch meeker and still have the valve open a bit later than optimum then surely this can be sorted with an aftermarket set-up. Anyway, maybe we are worrying over nothing.
  15. Yeah, I hear ya. I expect to see the Goodwood cars being shown around the UK but demonstrators might not be for months afterwards. Weirdly, I am not actually too bothered about the driving of it. Well, for me it is buying into the brand and how it looks. I will take for granted that it will drive brilliantly. I.e. If I never to get to actually drive one but am happy with others' comments, the looks and the options then I am sold anyway. As much I 'should' support McLaren I just cannot buy one due to sound - and they were a bit bland to drive as well, relatively speaking, in aural terms.
  16. Ha, yeah, that explains the 10% dread!! 😁
  17. Well, it is not the end of the world. All of the deposits are refundable. I assume we will be able to see the car, nee even drive it before we have to commit. By the way, with Lotus, typically what are the next steps in terms of a bigger deposit, letter of intent, etc? i.e. when will they empty my pockets next? 😬
  18. Yeah. As much as I love the livery of the Gulf colours I could not hijack the scheme on a marque that never wore it. Luckily, I am a huge lover of the Green with Yellow stripes and also the JPS Black an Gold livery. Oh yes.
  19. I hope some US fans come over! I was thinking... There are a lot of proper petrolheads on here and there is nothing better, outside of a car, than chinwagging about them. Thought it might be nice if we meet up. Logistically difficult to arrange. I will be there on the Friday only and happy to have some chats with other enthusiastic drivers. I will be on the stand for a while of course but will be wandering all over the place. Either way, who is going?
  20. How about the mustard yellow with blue highlights!? I doubt it will launch with livery options but to have some ability to change the colour of the ducts and skirting would be brilliant. I do not really want a solid one colour. If I have to I will buy aftermarket adornments to spruce it up and personalise it a BIT. At some point, we may get extensive personalised options as seen currently at https://www.lotuscars.com/en-GB/model/evija-configurator/#configure I am hoping to see a blue, yellow and green. I'd LOVE to see them all with some contrast, maybe even some heritage liveries but that would only disappoint somebody like me, who wants that option, if they do not actually offer it at launch. Did Lotus ever run a Gulf livery in racing do you know? If so, I would add that to my possibilities. Always loved it on Porsche and always wanted a Gulf Tag Heuer watch 👍 oooh, yeah, the wicked greens on the Evija config look bloody epic: https://www.lotuscars.com/en-GB/model/evija-configurator/#configure Talk about standing out - I love that
  21. Thanks guys. I feel a combination of emotions. 50% excitement 40% nervousness 10% Dread 😁
  22. Interesting comments and all of them make sense. It does appear that Lotus is moving out of their core value to the extent that they want to make it more appealing to the masses. That undoubtedly means that hardcore Lotus lightweight fans will not be happy BUT the rest of the buying market might be a LOT happier. However, positioning in the middle, by not being the lightest, most agile, car and not being the most comfortable, GT-esque car they risk losing sales in both directions. It will either be the perfect car or a failure, it comes down to your needs. If you want a hardcore Lotus then get an Exige, there are even Cup cars out there for sale. If you want something a bit more GT but retaining elements of Lotus DNA then this might be an amazing car. Damn, it really stems to how it looks when revealed and those early ride impressions. I am actually a bit nervous. As stated before, even if the Emira is the best car since the last best car, it still might not be enough to attract the big numbers.
  23. ok Great. I did today watch some YouTube videos on the Evoras and late Exiges and there looked to be some great seats so I will definitely be happy.
  24. Ha - Not sure I could do tartan or check but I know what you mean. I would settle for alcantara with body coloured stitching - and even better, internal use of the body colour paint.
  25. Yeah, ha, perhaps I am skewed by the triple layer Rossa Fuoco on the Ferraris being £21k 😁 At £3.5K I would 100% have a special livery. My favourite being the green with yellow. I did mention this to the dealer when I put down my deposits and his answer was that at best it would delay when I get the car as their priority would be on getting as many new cars out as possible which will shove those buying bog standard cars up to the front. That is fine with me - ish. It would be tough but waiting 3 or 4 more months for the spec I truly want is worth it for me. Yeah. Important if the launch colours number only a handful. If they have colours like on that Evija configurator then it really wouldn't be needed. Custom livery + PPF = Ceramic coat = Job done.
