  4. First you need to find out if you have an LC or an HC. LC's boost will max out at 8.5 psi, while an HC can take 10 psi. There is a pop off located on the plenum. It should pop off at 15 psi. Its is very easy to hear during full power gear changes. If your pop off is stuck or your waste gate is malfuctioning you could have an over boost situation. This will soon lead to a engine rebuild situation. That will lead to a wallet collaspe situation. Cheers Clay
  5. Stupid question, but are you making boost? If you lean the carbs and it runs better, then you may need more air. You could also have an advance problem, mechanical and or vacuum. Did you check fuel pressure while running under load? cheers clay

  7. The carbed turbos have what is termed a "pop off valve". When the plenum recieves a pressure spike, like in a gear shift, it releases the excess pressure. Where as a BOV releases pressure reguardless of the pressure level. The TE is set to pop off at 15psi. The spike is addressed by the ecu in the fuel injected cars. I beleive a BOV is a good idea on turbo cars to ease the strain on the vanes. I do also believe, because of the sound of the BOV, the boy racer types make it a little cheesy to have one. However the recirculating type make little to no noise. Cheers Clay
  8. I believe the effect of innercooling, and/or water methanol injection, prevents pre-detonation (pinging). Which in turn prevents the pistons from being beat to death. In the US, where cast iron heads are still used, compression levels must be kept low because iron will retain heat and cause detonation. Aluminum will transfer heat much faster and allow higher compression. The LC head, as I understand , is not cast properly to cool number 4. The add on cooling mod really only effectively cools the LC condition, and does not uprate the head to HC. I have no personal experience with this, it is just my understanding.   11. Sorry Simon but you really need that HC head to run more boost. The cooling in you LC can't deal with the extra heat and you would end up just pinging number four to death. With that said, you could put a methanol/water injection on it and increase boost. But that may be more than you want to deal with. Better stay with 8.5. Cheers Clay

  13. I saw it and thought it was just another altered esprit. But this is a real model? It is rough and would need a full restoration. I think it will go cheap. They may be baiting a little with " ran before wreck, prob electrical, and in the trunk, in a box with a switch........". I thought about giving a low bid, but I dont need a project. Clay
  14. I would have to say no. That does not look to be original. Though I have seen an original Elvis oil painting on the same material that was used to redo that interior. Best I can tell the steering wheel is original and the seat belt buckle and the door light switch. Cheers Clay

  16. Thanks for all the support guys. I am going to sell the basic BMW , MB , Jag, Landy, Boxter and 911, and a bug or two. The floor planning is stupid tight right now. I am having to put up half the money for the cars to get a decent rate. I will have to ease into the exotic market. There are not alot of exotics around here. I think maybe 6 Ferraris, 2 Esprits, 2 Aston, 1 Maser, and a Ford GT. But there are loads of BMWs, MB, Jags, VWs and the like. I was partners in another night club with a used car dealer, he is going to show me the art of buying. Kimbers, I may take you up on manager. You would blend right in, you're a southern baptist, who wants to live in a dry county right? I have just taken on 4 construction projects( because I'm scared to freaken death to turn down work right now) and it will be tough do it all. When I started this I was comfortable with my finacial situation and felt like I could enjoy this new business. Not so much now. Karl, the local colorful people are more, redneck and hill billy than cowboy. I could get u a rebel flag hat, get r dun hat, or number 3 hat, or a hat with calvin pissing on just about anything you want him to. But what you really need is some truck nuts. These are plastic bull testicles that swing from under the rear of your truck or car. Classy. Cheers Clay
  17. Thanks Hunt The facilty is located in Texarkana, Texas. That is 189 mile north east of Dallas. It is a town of about 100k people. It services about 700k from smaller towns surrounding it. I has a very large medical community. It also has a large legal community. The federal court house is where the Texas tabbacco lawsuit was file and settled. It also has made a couple movie appearances, Smokey and the Bandit, Sherrif Justice was from Texarkana. And "The town that dreaded sundown" was based on a serial killer that was here in the fifties and was never caught. And so on and so on. Its a nice place to live. Foreclosure rate is the lowest in the state, and has a stable economic base. Clay
  18. I have not been on here very much over the last year. I opened a new night club, which took some time. But, my second venture of the year is a brand new Eurpean automobile sales and service facility. The only facility of its kind for one hundred and twenty miles. Here is a couple pics.

  22. There is a rubber gasket fits into a metal clip then gasket assembly is installed into the pipe, then the otter switch into that. And as an extra measure the whole thing is wrapped in tie wire or a zip tie. Clay
  23. Simon, I have been following this thread and could'nt help but notice you are wanting a little more out of your esprit than it really wants to give. It might be a good time to look for an HC. I am running an HC with carbs in an 83 TE. I run 10 psi from time to time as I have boost control in the cabin. Most of the time I run 8 psi, put if I want a little more I just dial it up. I am also running re-jet 45s, no cat and free flowing exhaust. The HC is cooled better than the LC and should last longer because #4 is not being pinged to death. I think the HC would solve the problem of wanting more boost and give you a little more engine life. There are a couple problems I do have. I can make enough power to slip the clutch. Another is the always controversial citro gear box. And most important, is that, IMHO, the TE is the best looking Esprit, I just wish is was a little faster still. I think this is common ground for us. I keep touging at that string, and I really should just enjoy the car for what it is. A 26 year old exotic that, in its day, was an absolute bad ass. Cheers Clay
