  1. Fully understand and agree with what you say. It is not about the champagne, caviar, etc. or even only the price. I think it is about the tone which is currently a bit all over the place - they risk trying to be everything to everyone.

Firstly, what tone does Lotus want around the Emira? If it was about a beautiful, slick, aspirational car (which the ad potrays), the event (apart from the car) definitely was not that. It was not even about the heritage and properly connecting us to it. It felt like 'the Lotus of old' with the talk about the 'new Lotus' not matching what it felt like.

Second, while most on this forum are 'all about the car' and enthusiasts (hence more forgiving - and I consider myself a newbie here), we are not what is going to give Lotus its 1000s of sales and financial future. To do that, the experience needs to be a lot better - not mimic Porshce but compete with it. That is what hit Alpine especially in the UK. Maybe, Lotus will get this right elsewhere - seems like the Bahrain launch was more slick.

Anyway, let's see how this plays out. Onto the drive next!

I got an "Emira Priority Reservation Showroom Event Invitation" email at 18:53, I've booked for 20-21:30 28th September at my local which was Bell and Colvill. It seems the evening slots were not on that roadshow link previously shared in this thread.

Do I bring my mate who loves cars or the misses who hasn't seen it yet... 😬

If we're having a sweepstake again, I'm going to guess it will still be Blue giving it is their launch colour :D

[email protected] B&C confirmed to me today that it will be the blue one as it is the ‘finish ready’ one and the closest to how the production cars will look. Especially the quality of the interiors. It does not have an engine though so no hope of hearing the soundtrack or dreaming of driving it. Strictly a static demo - just to get us excited to see and feel it in the flesh.

  3. You may be right - how that could work is still vague. They could still take the configuration and 10k or so in the next few weeks but give those who want it the option to back out until they have driven the car - may be delayed a few weeks but not fully lose their place. Of course, if you are sure what you want, you could get the V6 early.

Hopefully it gets clearer in Sep!!

I’ve no experience of Hexagon and haven’t heard much about them. Jamie and the rest of the team at B&C are excellent.

    Thanks! Very helpful.

Was in Poole, so dropped into Hendy Lotus this morning. Good chat with the team there about the Emira. Said that timelines have been pushed back and they expect the UK roadshow to be in Oct now. The cars are still in the US. And expect some more see details to trickle in from mid-Sep.

  5. Interesting. Have not received the email either. But then, I did not indicate any preferred dealer when playing my deposit directly with Lotus online. Looks like I will need to speak to a dealer.

I am in west London. Nearest option seems to be Hexagon, and then a little distance away, B&C. Any advice on who I should go with based on service? New to Lotus - so no experience with any Lotus dealer.

    Thanks all!

    Welcome!

Great choices. I doubt you will need both. They are similar - though the Alpine is lighter but with lower power.  Which one do you keep is the real question.

The Alpine is rare. Only seen a few. That in itself is a cool thing.

Agree - quite similar. Will depend on how the Emira drives. And also, if I go in for the V6 manual. Would not enjoy taking stop-start London driving in that as a daily. Was easier in the Alpine as there was no choice of engine or gearbox - along with its size, makes for pretty good city driving too.

Yeah! the Alpine does feel special and makes heads turn and thumbs up wherever I go. Seen only three others in the UK in the time I had it - one last weekend!
