  1. Can anyone tell me what the cause of the paint problem I have. When I bought it 2 years ago it had only a couple of paint blemishes that I took to be ‘Fisheye’. The front and rear are now completely covered in 1-2 mm spots where the edges are lifting away from the surface. In places the paint has flaked off completely. I feather edged these yesterday for repainting and found a couple of more paint chips had broken off from the feathering this morning. The paint layer is very thin and it doesn’t take much rubbing down to get to the GRP surface. Could it be the original factory applied paint breaking down. I put a car cover over it over winter but it seemed to deteriorate just the same. I think I read someone else having the same issue about a year ago. Can anyone suggest what the cause might be. Thanks G
  2. Yes, that should be ok, but they charge a £10 setting up fee for each variation. Their laser operator is on an extended holiday, back in 4 weeks. I'll get back to you. Bibs, Thanks for the font info that looks correct.
  3. I’m looking at getting some copies of the original badges fitted on the centre console just below the clock for the Eclat 2.2 and Elite 2.2. These would be in the original overlapping Lotus outline typeface. I think the cost should be in the region of £15 each. Please let me know if interested

  5. 1978 Lotus Eclat 521,no keys or V5 company invoice supplied. Been stored many years, we’ve dismantled ignition to get it turning over, sunroof glass missing (??shown in pics) but aside from that it looks all there, interior is grotty but all there, rolls freely for loading.underside looks pretty good. It’s a restoration project so best to just come to us and have a proper good look before deciding. Would be great project car and Resto Car Here is a perfect project to keep some enthusiast busy over the summer Future classic, been stored in a Garage storage for over 10 years. 8. Googling Lotus Eclat images recently, ended up on Instagram and saw the picture below, thought it looked familiar. My car !! Neighbours tell me people are always photographing it or just stopping and looking at it. Located in NW London. I liked the comment the poster left about 'Hotwheels' and 538 likes !! And visiting a friend in Archway, N London, someone took this one and posted on Instagram. Only 18 likes, but only 10 days ago.
  9. Hi Dill, the AB14 ignition amplifier was fitted inside of the Lucas ignition amplifier to the later Excels. Are you getting a spark at the plugs? Is petrol pumping into the carbs, what condition are the carbs in, when were they last overhauled. Rebuild kits are available OE and cheaper alternatives.
  10. Oops, Senior Moment, spending too long on another forum.
  11. In the Engine bay, right hand side, mounted on the middle of wheel arch. Looks something like the pic below. The internal gizmo can be replaced much cheaper than buying an new Lucas unit
  12. Mine doesn't dip, but its just struck me the spring/adjusting arm could be lengthened to to adjust out the dip. When pod is up the spring compensates for the extra length. You might be able to set the correct length through the access hole in the underside, or more likely through the up pod with headlight and back cover removed
