  1. Underneath the centre of the hatch near the windscreen end there's a release lever. It then pulls out with a slight rearward motion. RTFM?
  2. Clean it up with scotchbrite then use this stuff to keep it gleaming...
  3. Thanks mate. Chuffed with the outcome. Thanks Sam. Looks like I got the fourth to last sequential VIN. I got the full body ppf and wasn't entirely sure how the stripes would look so had the wrap shop apply them over the ppf. Hanging in there for now and looks the biz with the calipers. The button was a piece of piss to install and makes it sound a bit more serious when loafing. Sitting on the couch making lists of carbon xmas presents...
  4. Finally got delivery of my 420FE last week. Absolutely thrilled with it and managed 550kms before testing positive for COVID and now I'm not allowed out in it for a week; damned pestilence! Full carpet, cruise control, everything carbon except the intakes. Fitted the noise button without dramas (thanks Luan) and works perfectly.
  5. One of those last four is mine, currently sitting on a wharf in Singapore! Still waiting!!
  6. Good to hear you had a good weekend. Sounds like you're taking a bit of lead role in Lotus Wellington? Watching my ship sit at anchor off Le Havre for the last approx four weeks has been excruciating. Nobody's fault but painful nonetheless. Of course the delays will add several thousand to the price of the car too. Sold the 964 too early and have missed having a toy car all summer. First world problem.
  7. Really like those mirrors. As these only use two mounting points, what do you do to cover up the extra hole further up the mounting area? (Apologies if this gives cause to repeat yourself).
  8. Sorry I missed you Sam. I assume you're heading back today?
  9. No chance Sam. Yes I ordered it direct from Sliplo and will ask McLaren to fit it when the check the car out on arrival. You missed a cool Lotus Club gathering at Lotus Auckland yesterday Sam. I got to meet Luan and Frank and a few other club people. Awesome array of cars.
  10. Hi Luan, Thanks for the addition to the FB group (Sam I'll keep you posted on any news out of there). I agree with Sam that it would be good to get this forum a bit more active. Sam, Luan has suggested a group order for exhaust buttons on FB and I recall you being keen on a bit more noise for cruising the streets? This is apparently the ship our cars are coming on Luan... ...but it is currently located here... Antwerp! So I'm thinking end of March earliest for arrival. I'm not sure I can wait that long... What are the specs on your car Luan?
  11. Thanks for the encouragement @Sam Downey. I have my Sliplo splitter protection and a car cover (thanks @Bibs), just no car! The ship it is supposed to be coming over in is currently in Portugal so hasn't even picked up the car yet. Getting a bit frustrating. Yeah, I had got my head around the extinguisher and (I agree, only the immature would buy an Exige!) the cool factor but think in practice not having a shortened passenger footwell will be better if I can get the Misses into it for a weekender. Likewise the sound deadening I probably would have spec'ed if I had the chance just t make it more liveable. I don't have high hopes for the stereo quality @phrankeeebut yes, it will be good for the longer trips. Pleased you're loving it. I could have brought my Golf EV (ha!) on the club run but I have kart racing in Tokoroa with my son that weekend anyway. I intend to join the club but probably once I get a car. @Sam Downeyperhaps you and @phrankeeeand I can hook-up in Auckland when you get your windscreen attended to?
  12. Other than the knocking how are you enjoying it?
  13. So apparently my car will leave UK 31 Jan so looking like mid-March. Seems the spec has changed too, no fire extinguisher, but added stereo and full sound deadening. Had kinda got used to the idea of the fire extinguisher. Will be interesting to see what actually arrives!
  14. @Sam Downey I pestered Chris last weekend but he has not had an update on delivery and was following up. I assume it’ll be at least three weeks from when it leaves UK so I am in for a bit of a wait I’m afraid. How’s your machine going?
  15. An Exige and a Landcruiser is a good option…
  16. That all sounds pretty good Frank and hopefully they sort the extinguisher soon. I had been toying with taking it out being mindful that it restricts passenger leg room but not sure. Is it a pain for passengers? Is it fairly easy to change the suspension settings or a bit of a PITA? Pleased you've got it riding how you like it. When is the run-service completed? Certainly puzzling that there seems to be different views on what is required, but if in doubt, oil and filter is pretty cheap piece of mind. Then again we may be over-thinking this! Has anyone had their hard top off yet? No further word on my delivery, guessing Feb, so any pictures you guys can post will keep me focused! Hope you're both getting time off to put some kms on your new machines and look forward to a drive together sometime soon! Drive safe!
  17. Sam and Frank. I've ordered the sliplo product https://sliplo.shop/products/diy-kit for the spoiler lip. Not sure how you guys are getting on with scrapes but thought I'd get ahead of the game and get it fitted when I have PPF applied. Frank, how are you getting on with the car?
  18. @Sam DowneyHave you double checked with McLaren and/or Chris? Does the manual indicate what is required at 1500km? Seems very odd.
  19. Wow. Great write-up Sam. Sounds a bit scary but exciting that it sounds like something to unwrap slowly as your confidence builds. This is partly why I want to put the car on the track so I can learn about it in a safe(ish) environment and get to grips with it. Were the headlights pretty crap? I’ve seen some after market ones in the forums which might make a difference at night. It’s an interesting observation that you can wring the neck of the Elise on the road and have a lot of fun, but the Exige, although faster, quickly gets out of the realm of sensible on the open road. Anyway, glad you made it back without too many dramas and I remain green with envy as I wait for mine to come of the production line.
  20. Great to meet you this week Sam and sorry you weren’t able to join us Frank. Sam, how did the drive back go?
  21. Congratulations again Frank. Looks amazing! Look forward to seeing it in the flesh. I'm pleased to hear it isn't loud at sedate revs; it might just be acceptable to the misses and allow me to keep my neighbourhood friends. I think the suspension has various hardness settings so if the pressures are right you may be able to dial in some more comfort.
  22. Will have to check those dates against other commitments but Chris thinks end of Jan early Feb (which is like forever away) for my delivery so might work if I can swing it with work. Im 6’ but not hugely long in the back so thinking it’ll be fine.
  23. Yeah, the vents add a certain seriousness but agree I’m not about to get the dremel out! The best bit is the wing I think and there is some black detailing that kind of hooks up the engine cover to the roof. I had a feel of the lip and agree that would seem to be good protection. Sam, confirm the 420 lip has nothing? I am keen to track it but not until I have got comfortable. I’ve done several track days in 964s but am certainly no ace. Most important is being insured, accepting you are not about to be discovered and launched into F1, and getting professional instruction. I’m keen to join the club and the Feb run sounds great. What dates? I too bought blind but made it conditional on a test drive which I got the shortest of in the black 390. I was lined up for a longer one but it got sold. The only bit I didn’t like was finding knee room but I guess I’ll find a work around. The mirrors look brilliant. Starting the slippery slope early! I’m working tomorrow but will keep in touch via Chris and see if there’s an opportunity to see your car Frank.
  24. Managed to check it out on Friday. Looks brilliant. I hung around a bit waiting for your car Frank. Hope it arrives Monday. Agree with Sam it will look stunning in grey!
