  1. Richard at Sportomotive is good from what I have seen so far and gives me regular emails and responds quick when I have questions. Just one thing drellis. One item within the contract that Richard demands when he is selling a car on SOR is that the car has a CAT on it. If it is De-catted then for him to take it on SOR, a CAT must be purchased and fitted or he can do that for you but at a cost. Regards Chats
  2. My Esprit is at this moment currently residing with Richard at Sportomotive on this very scheme. I think that his offer to me was a fair one. Just need the car to sell now :-). Unfortunately only getting rid of due to buying a house, getting married and impending change of job all in a year. Regards Chats
  3. Yeah I agree too that the cars do need a little bit of care and attention more then some 'run of the mill' cars but at the moment, my Lotus is the weekend car with 55k miles on it and my daily runner is a little Mk2 Clio with FSH and 60k miles. So far miles travelled wise, I have done about the same distance in both cars now (obviously owning the Clio for less time) and the Lotus has been the more reliable of the two cars in terms of defective parts that I have had to replace!. Time will tell how long that this will last but it is just the joys of motoring. B) Hope that you get the cc sorted soon though mate. Regards Chats
  4. Danny, I changed my wastegate on my GT3 and then had about a couple of months period where I couldn't get the car to boost right at all. Ended up taking it too 2 different places and they didn't seem capable of setting the car up correctly. One got it close and then I adjusted the wastegate to finish it off. It was still overboosting slightly at the top of the rev range and bizarrely when I fitted my dump valve, it sorted the problem out, that and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to allow the car to learn its settings again. If you change wastegates, Dave Walters does a very nice alloy one which is great. As for the way the GT3 drives generally, Mark TC pretty much has it summed up. Yours should definately starting boosting at 3000rpm and the car does feel a little bit slow for accelerating up to 3000rpm. Also as Jonathon mentioned, the car should definately drive smoothly up to the 3000rpm point and then at that point you do get a bit of a stumble as the turbo switches in to start boosting. The GT3 is just one of those cars that you really have to 'drive' to get the best out of it. Hope that you manage to get to the bottom of your problem soon as I remember mine when the turbo wasn't working correctly and it did make the car a displeasure to drive. Regards Chats
  5. Sounds like a story for watchdog Si!!!. I had interesting problems with the Busseys in Fareham. Surfice to say, I never used them again!. Chats
  6. Si, It will be a few months yet before the Lotus makes its way to Glasgow (Need to check it will fit in the garage and don't move in until July). Plan on making visits back though and will definately pop in and say hello before I go. Hope all is well. Chats
  7. Thanks Bibs, Murray Motor Company looks like the ideal place to take my car. Use Strattons at the moment so not a stranger to official dealers for work. Just want to continue getting the Lotus stamps in the FSH!. Regards Chats Also thanks Kimbers. May make the odd trip down to Norwich though every now and again as the parents will still be there!.
  8. Instead of trapezing through the abyss that is google, I thought I would fire this question out to the experts of all things Esprit!. I am in the process of relocating from Norwich to Glasgow and was wondering if anyone out there has any recommendations of good garages and Lotus specialists in particular (if there are any up this way) where I can take my GT3 for servicing, MOTs and general garage type work?!. Regards Chats
  9. Adam Harris, 1999 ESPRIT GT3 SCCEA0823XHC22294 Location Norwich currently though could be relocating to Glasgow by the end of the year Chats
  10. I have also bought many a part from Steve at SJ's and I have never had any problems either. Got a part the other day which was out of stock when I ordered it and still got it within a week of order!. Chats
  11. Can't remember where but I am definately sure I have also seen that car before....remember the unique alloys!. Think it may have been the lotus show a couple of years back. Chats

Yep it was good to see another Esprit too!. Just giving the car a run now that I finally have the turbo problem sorted!!!!. The cure, installation of a dump valve?!. No complaints though as it is now running the best it ever has!!! Hope to get down to an AEG meeting soon Regards Chats
  13. Hi Troy, I have sent an email to the address that Bibs placed on the add but thought I would back up my interest with a message here. I am very interested in the full set of Alpine speakers that you have going?! Regards Chats
  14. Yeah I have bumped into Pony a couple of times. Don't know him really well but do see him around. Are you still working at Excellent?. And what is it that you teach there? Chats I am MOD mate and serving Royal Navy. Also thanks for the messages of support everyone!. Looking forward to getting the car out and to a few events after I get back!!! Chats
  15. Not bad is it mate!. I will show you a couple more 'never before seen' ones when I get back and make it to the next AEG meeting!. Chats
  16. Cheers Kimbers Met a few of them in Kuwait
  17. Cheers Bibs, Will keep that in mind though my brother is also requesting to take it out on a regular basis too!!!. Chats PS: Out here as part of a team looking after a defensive weapon system that shoots down rockets that the Iraqi Insurgency is firing at us into the base. Quite a satisfying job!. If you look up LPWS/Phalanx on Utube you will see it.
  18. Not exactly a newbie but I have been away from my car for that long now, I am starting to forget what it felt like and even smelt like inside!!!!. That must make me a newbie of sorts?! Hope everyone in the Esprit World is doing well!. Chats
  19. Hey Buddsy, Which one is that? Do you have the name of the garage?. If it is Clive Atthowe then he charges about 90 ish for time on the rolling road. If not, then probably haven't tried. Chats
  20. Hi everyone, Thanks for all the great advice. Looks like the way ahead will be to firstly acquire freescan then get a better impression from this of what my car is exactly doing. Then I should be able to move on from there. Roll on April so I can tinker! Kind regards Chats
  21. At the moment Dave, I am in Iraq though have decided I will purchase freescan so it is waiting for me when I am home in April. I do not believe it is the wastegate itself. I think it is to do with the setup. Following the guide on setting up the wastegate, I am going to get a gauge and pump and check that it is set as it should be. I am unsure whether the garages did with a gauge and pump so can not answer that. Thanks for the offer of a new diaphragm/spring but I am sure that the wastegate itself is fine. Just a query reference testing the boost through freescan. How do you acheive this?. Do you rev the car in neutral or can freescan assess the car on the move? Not wanting to ask a dumb question but I am yet to use freescan. Regards Chats
  22. Hi everyone, Just a query for advice. As some of you know and some don't, I changed my wastegate on my GT3 to a new alloy one and have had problems since. It has been looked at by 3 different places and has come back different everytime but is still not right. I believe this to be a set up problem on the car but am just throwing it to the floor for your input. I lastly had the wastegate adjusted by a STR of norwich. The set the car up statically as they do not have a rolling road to set it up on. At the moment, I believe the car in its current setup is overboosting. The turbo starts spooling a little before 3000rpm and in 3rd and 4th gear when I am giving it some on the dual carriageway, it revs up to about 4500rpm before the engine appears to stall. I believe this is the fuel cut off kicking in due to an overboost. Before that, the car feel very rapid but with the current problems, the best speed in 5th before I get this stall and loss of power is way below what it should be. No urgent response required as I am currently in sunny Iraq and won't be back near my car until April though as all of you know as owners, when you have a spare moment to think and the car is poorly you tend to think about it. I am planning on my return from Iraq to chip the car with Marcus' 280bhp chip though until this problem is fixed and the car is setup as it should be, I don't want to start findling with more things. All the 3 garages had a go at setting this up but without good working knowledge of the Esprit, I think they all were waning a little so decided to ask the real experts Regards Adam
  23. Yeah I will admit I don't remember my car being as fast as it is at the moment. The new wastegate is a great item though gonna have another little play with the car today as I am convinced that it is overboosting slightly. Don't know whether your noticed or not Si but on the dual carriageway part by the Texico petrol stations, in fourth gear my car is still doing the overboost at 4500rpm and then I think it is the fuel cutoff kicking in which feels like a cross between a stall and a rev limiter Not to worry, will try and sort it today! Regards Chats PS: Had a great night and it is great to finally meet most of the AEG owners!!!
  24. Just an update. Took my car into STR (Shawn Taylor Racing) in Norwich and the car is now running really well and is nearly there. Just needs a little bit of fine tweaking which I am going to sort today and then hopefully it will be fully sorted. Thanks for all the help and advice guys!!! Chats
