  1. http://www.amazon.co.uk/books/dp/074995308X just thought i would pass this on having read a few of the threads on here about various personal issues. .... have a great day all
  2. can someone enlighten me as to why JMG is talking about a controversial partnership with a bus manufacturer to build an SUV due 2019 when no one has actually seen/heard anything since geneva about the evora400, a spots car due to market imminently ? what are they smoking over at hethel ?
  3. was at bedford last week .... 32/38 worked for about 6 laps lol.... after that it was all a bit sideways lol .. all good fun though. saying that the exige v6 was still the fastest 'normal' car out there.
  4. the all have a bit of play... been thru the same thing. For the tall chaps like me that suffer for our art Gav suggested replacing the RHD runners with LHD passenger runners to get a few mm more room, should also make the seat rock solid!
  5. great news for lotus, but being analytic.... two questions 1) are these figures not inline with the global mkt (i read somewhere that it was a record period for most) considering the amount of sales Lotus needs to make a big headline figure (beta, gamma etc) and 2) almost completely driven by the exige v6? playing devils advocate and not knowing the answer to 1 or 2 myself, not sure how much JMG has contributed to either.
  6. Che Bella Figura ! isotope or toxic? !
  7. it maybe just me... but i dont a winning porsche in that line up ....
  8. ciao giorgio first things first, where in italy are you? (if Lombardia i believe PB have a yellow V6 in stock)... and ..... what football team do you support? 1) i have them on my v6s. no they are the same size. i haven't reached the limits of the 2 p/c yet. so cant comment on stocks. what i will say is i once had a bad brake failure once in another lotus i had and from then on i will always pay up for the better anchors option. that's just me though 2) you can sort of drift the v6 on DPM off coming out of bends, but even then its not LSD ish. i have found its the only way to do it! remember its going to have far more rear end grip then your s1, so you will be going quicker and require more input im not sure thats what its about though.... the v6 is the best touring version of the exige/elise derivative ever made. i have taken my v6s round europe 2 x. the last trip was LDN, NCE, BCN, NCE, MI, LDN.... a few peeps on here have done the same.... so im guessing the car will tick that box! easy any other Q's just ask.....

    Exige 400

true but for whatever reason i'm not seeing anywhere near 80hp difference on the straighter stuff in the vid, 80hp at that weight should be night and day frankly.... might just not be clear from the videos ? irrespective of who is the more advanced driver / cup vs S a straight-ish line tends to even all that out and that difference would 'really' show imo.

    exciting times old bean

    3-Eleven

they should have been doing this instead of limited edn paint jobs these cars can change the game and sell/reestablish the brand as a genuine performance leader overnight. and its not like they need massive development to do it either.

    Exige 400

i get that for an evora400 (a gt) and an exige400 (a sportscar) ... but evora400 Cup (which we know is coming) and exige400 or exige400 Cup? surely the evora400 Cup (a sports car) will be stripped out, harder suspension, lower, noisy ....ie not a GT at all but a car that competes directly with an exige even if it has more legroom ?

    Exige 400

sorry wasn't trying to cause offence lol... anyway, my view is you can retain high(ish) sills and increase ease of access... depends how you design the next version. the trouble here is i just cant see how the products relate going forward if you lower the sills on the exige. why buy an evora400 cup when an exige400 cup will be available? assuming you can get into both. will they not just tread on each others toes considering both will only be 2 seaters and the exige will be quicker and cheaper?

    Exige 400

im happy to see the sills stay too, part of the theater of the car. but if i were 50 i might think otherwise? still, very interesting topic !

    Exige 400

    i find this whole thing fascinating not least because i don't understand the relationships., Alfa 4c - 14,500 Nm/deg http://www.germancarforum.com/threads/the-list-torsional-rigidity.12334/ Bugatti Veyron - 60,000 Nm/degree !!!
  17. diego

    Exige 400

well i havent found an exige v6 Nm/deg and im no expert .... so i would love to hear too....tried to get it discussed on seloc but no luck.... but if you take an elise chassis and bolt on a bigger rear subframe (ie 1/3rd of the the chassis) i assume the Nm/deg goes down not up? could be totally wrong. the starting figure is very low but the original car was 725kgs or something with low grip relative to the exige v6 so it didn't matter....

    Exige 400

im as interested in the power and how the LSD will effect things ? just cant see how they can lower the sills though. cost implications and it already has a low enough rigidity. try sticking your finger against the roof gap behind your head as you drive.... fair bit of movement there. evora (pre sills cut) 26,000Nm elise 10,500 Nm/degree cayman 42,000 Nm Aventador 35,000Nm/deg, Mclaren 12c spider 23,000Nm if the 400 will be the run out exige on the existing platform and you only need 2 to 3k sales globally pa i would keep it simple, bolt on the rear subframe and its running gear from the evora400 ....and save the chassis development budget for the new derivative especially with such a low Nm/degree starting point on a car that's nearly 2 x the original derivatives weight on what is largely the same chassis. anyway... cant wait to buy one!

    Exige 400

lol .... we may as well keep this going, what color you going for boys?

    Exige 400

yep, but you have to be in it to win it JP ... and times are a changing as is the product and target market ! agree on the ability of the current set. what i'm talking about here is making money pure and simple with a box to tick. what % of gt4 owners will use 100% of the ability of their 410mm ceramic brakes ?? <2%? what % of gt4 owners will spec 410mm ceramic brakes >90% my view is make that box available across the range irrespective and see a significant effect on the bottom line perhaps? fekme 9k miles at the ring? I doff my cap to you Sir !
  21. diego

    Exige 400

ok so this GT4 riff raff upstart has 410mm ceramic brakes...i bet they look and are simply outstanding ! You could probably stare at them all day if you are a geek like me..... What is this ? a £6k option ? what a great P&L driver and i bet all gt4s have that box ticked do you think lotus will have the 'intelligence' to extract cash/ rape their customers in the same way as porsche do ? you all know we would tick that box when the time comes .... as will everyone everyone in asia ! but will lotus see this easy money or just pass up the opportunity again ?

    Lotus Evora 400

delusions of grandeur / mis management call it what you want ... and very silly imho. most plebs turn up in a cheap suit to blag their way into a stand (nothing wrong with that) with no history or intention of buying anything .... but anyone worth their salt in sales can tell the difference immediately... lotus' hardcore UK base is small enough to know who is coming and when. i was invited onto the stand by Jamie at B&C (couldn't make it - but thanks to Jamie anyway) but if i had turned up randomly and had not been allowed into a stand by some insignificant minion i would have caused a right f**king scene.... agree with kimbers on this, do you want people to 'try' and buy the car or not? no excuses. have a guy stand there and fix whatever falls off immediately. but let people onto the stand.... have it full, create inertia / interest.

    Lotus Evora 400

personally i don't like the approach JMG is taking here. 1) 40% new means all new (you can pull that stunt if the car looks significantly different - my understanding is it looks like a face-lift and 40% doesn't mean all new in my maths) 2) 'the evora400 will be the fastest car on track sub £100k' (no way a gt4 will be a lot quicker if the evora400 is as quick as an exige v6 round hethel) 3) He claims that the Lotus tub is just five kilos heavier than the Alfa 4C's carbonfibre structure (there are so many holes in that argument i dont know where to begin) 4) a new lotus "it will be the fastest road car around the Nürburgring," (the stuff of crystal balls again) hes making himself quite a target for the likes of hacks that don't particularly like lotus but that make the market - JC and monkey boy for starters and i dont think the Co needs that at all.... i think you can take this approach IF you have the product but so far im not completely convinced he does....
