  3. Almost ready for the roll cage, many new parts getting in. started with some cage modeling
  4. Trial fitment of the turbo Some update of the disassembly process
  5. Maybe A06, Bermuda blue. Anyhow please keep it in the color as you have. I think your blue is the best color for the S2
  6. V8 makes 400Nm so I guess the GT3 should be able to cope with it.
  7. Finally some power figures with the new upgrade kit, not so bad at 1.2 bar boost. Still some issues with idle control valve to sort out though.
  8. If you share your email I can send you a document with details of my S1 racecar.
  9. S3 is a 2.2 Although ,maybe they made 2 liters for Italy. (Not sure) also the suspension is different. Do you have a specific preference for LHD or RHD? A good S1 base :
  10. I don't think the blue car was changed much other than the roll-cage and other safety features. Also I don't think it will be OK for Fia HTP other than to use it under Group 5 regs. Which would make it uncompetitive against the space frame cars. If you want a HTP for a road car based, you can better use a S1 or S2 for a base relating to the Fia Group 4 homologation document. Specifically with a 2 liter engine.
  11. Story is that the car has being converted back to original road car spec. One good source of info of Lotus Esprit chassis raced is : Basically what I found of early Esprits there were 2 cars build for Fia (DRM) races build along the lines of Group 5 regulations. 1 is the "Jenvey" car which is rebuild and running historics. And one is in the USA. (And for sale, please let me know if you are interested) Both are Lotus esprit bodies over a space frame chassis. The USA car got a bit more original Lotus left in it. Rear suspension is modified to some formula spec and engine a Ford DBA. To run them competitively they need over 300 Hp for sure. Other cars build are the Turbo as you pictured, this was for UK club level racing only. And very close to a original car. There was also a "Paul Matty" hillclimb car. Which was a spaceframe, without any Esprit bits. And there were various thundersaloon/modsport/special GT chassis made. Basically also spaceframe without any real esprit bits. (The AET car was re-bodied with a Skoda body) Some are for sale though for cheap: Also there was a black Esprit for sale a while ago in the UK. Not sure if it was a modsport or Group 5. Looked a lot better than the current for sale items. And the S1/S2 car which ought to have run Daytona in 1981 was for sale in the USA some years ago. Not sure what happend to it. To get something with a HTP you either need to build something along the lines of a Group 5 car. Maybe the for sale modsport cars can be a good base. Or build a Group 4 along the Fia regulations. But not sure if there was ever a Lotus Esprit in a official Fia group 4 race. My car was a USA SCCA car which was build along the lines of Group 4 regulations but raced club level in the USA. So if you need any details for inspiration please let me know. Regards Jaap
  12. Also got some nice pics of the original build through the International Motor Racing Research Center | IMRRC SCCA_Lotus_Esprit_S1_IMRRC_001.tif
  13. I got some very nice info from the International Motor Racing Research Center in Watkins Glen (International Motor Racing Research Center | IMRRC) The car was driven by Dennis W. Hackler under ownership by James Pirtle, in the SCCA twice. The first time at Texas World Speedway on the 4th of July in 1981. It had teething issues as with any new racecar. Then the 2nd time they raced it at GSW, which stood for Great Southwest circuit which was made up of the runways of the old Ft. Worth Airport. That time the car overheated and damaged the rings. Picture of the car running at TWS
  14. Thanks Eric, yes the car is fitted with Koni's and the Weber conversion. Car needs a lot of TLC and some paint. Now figuring out the paint scheme options. Also i'm thinking going a bit larger wheel size from the Gotti's as to have a better selection of rubber.
  15. With the dream of racing an Esprit someday in the future and doing research once in a while, i could not resist the "buy in now" button when the former Sportscarworld S1 racecar came up for sale at After some arrangements the Esprit S1 arrived from the USA here in the Netherlands. Which process was less difficult than i expected it to be. Idea is to give it a good check, some adjustments to bring it to modern safety standards, and if all goes well do some races in historic championships. As the history of the car is a bit unclear, other than that it has raced SCCA championships in the early 80s, I'd love any info that people might have about it.
