  1. I'm with you Wayne. I just can't help biting when "his lordship" starts. And Travis nobody's saying you or anybody else won't do a bang up job on your Esprit, but with the number of variants of Esprit your solution won't suit everyone and the fact that Lotus have taken the time to supply us ALL with setups that'll do our cars justice can only be praised. And I suspect that if you do decide to do something for your car the amount of trial and testing you'll need to do to get a comparable set up will far out weigh the "extra" cost that the factory is charging, but maybe this is what you enjoy doing, personally I'd rather get something I know is as right as it can be and spend the time enjoying the car. I use mine as a daily driver and so doing trials on my suspension won't do, if I can get the gear, get it on, get it set up, and then drive it I'm happy.
  2. P.S. I take no responsibility for numptys flying kites in thunder storms
  3. Top tip number 1. Keep a kite in the boot of the car! If ever you feel the cars in danger from bad weather, just get out the kite and fly that to protect it.
  4. Martyn Don't worry, unless you're sat in your car in an open field in a thunderstorm with a big pointy metal rod in the roof you're pretty safe. Funny though your avatar has your car picture in an open field, just the other two items needed........... what's your aerial made from?
  5. If they've knocked you out, they can't have been very good or safe to drive As for falling behind.......... Have you ever had a look at Lotus engineering, the other manufacturers that they list as consulting for and think of the ones they aren't allowed to list, the innovation with their new chassis designs, the other stuff they're dabbling in that's not automotive related. I think you need to do some reading. falling behind indeed !
  6. I think you mean Faraday cage / shield Michael Faraday to quote Faraday stated that the charge on a charged conductor resided only on its exterior, and had no influence on anything enclosed within it. basically lightening hits a metal car and the contents are OK As the Esprit is GRP I don't believe this comes into it. So if lightening was to strike an Esprit it'd probably crack it open like a good un and you'd not be too well.
  7. Come one guys ! Your forgetting the self confessed genius Teigan, a master of everything mechanical and electrical must be able to do a much better job than Lotus. I mean he has the test track, all the various models of cars to put different suspension setups on and test, and Lotus (according to him) are a bunch of engineering monkeys. Personally I'll go with the Lotus setup............. After all isn't one of the main reasons we bought of of these cars, THE WORLD RENOUNED LOTUS HANDLING
  8. Unfortunately the huge Audi A8 6.0 has a 0-62 time of 5.1secs so it could easily have been one of these, or the Rs4 is also a big possibility. I had a BMW 650 have a go a while back an though I could leave him behind in the corners and lower end he kept catching up due to the sheer power / torque. although I did find it funny when an Audi TT 3.2V6 tried to have a go and I had to keep slowing down to let him catch up......
  9. Yes but a one off limited edition book no matter how nice and lovely it is, wont keep my beautiful motor on the road with me in it, and frankly that'll put a bigger smile on my mug
  10. Not being a scrooge, Bah Humbug !!!! just 250 notes will get me new discs and pads for the rear or some new door seals and a cat bypass pipe or or or or see my point
  11. The 12 days of politically correct Christmas This wasn't my doing but I thought it was funny On the 12th day of the Eurocentrically imposed midwinter festival, my potential-acquaintance-rape-survivor gave to me: * TWELVE males reclaiming their inner warrior through ritual drumming. * ELEVEN pipers piping (plus the 18-member pit orchestra made up of members in good standing of the Musicians Equity Union as called for in their union contract even though they will not be asked to play a note...) * TEN melanin-deprived testosterone-poisoned scions of the patriarchal ruling class system leaping, * NINE persons engaged in rhythmic self-expression, * EIGHT economically disadvantaged female persons stealing milk-products from enslaved Bovine-Europeans, * SEVEN endangered swans swimming on protected wetlands, * SIX enslaved fowl-Europeans producing stolen nonhuman animal products, * FIVE golden symbols of culturally sanctioned enforced domestic incarceration, NOTE: after member of the Animal Liberation Front threatened to throw red paint at my computer, the calling birds, French hens and partridge have been reintroduced to their native habitat. To avoid further animal-European enslavement, the remaining gift package has been revised. * FOUR hours of recorded whale songs, * THREE deconstructionist poets, * TWO Sierra Club calendars printed on recycled processed tree carcasses * And an Animal Rights activist chained to an old-growth pear tree. And Teigan I don't know what your problem is, but if you don't like this either then just shut the *$%K up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry Christmas one and all
  12. I bought 2.5 cows (hides) from Connelly leather about 8 years ago to retrim my Eclat and that was about
  13. you is a nutter Made me laff And a Merry Xmas to you too. (Bit worried about the 11 loti hooning but only 10 turbos boosting)
  14. Simple answer. ease off the power........................... other than that What's the road condition? check your geometry! check your tyre pressures!
  15. I think college should be his main priority. Maybe they can teach him how to spell Porsche, porche, porrrrrch, pork...
  16. Errrmm ! My 1995 S4s has a two piece black lip as standard It's not totally clear in this pic but you can just make it out So I don't think it was introduced with the 350 unless you guys are taking about something completely different
  17. Yep ! Sorry my post should have read These are the standard Eclat / Elite wheels
  18. Those wheels were on the series 2.2 Eclat / riviera and the S2.2 Esprit These are the standard Eclat wheels
  19. I like the 70's Elite, and used to have one... and still own an Eclat. But i think the 60's Elite is one of the prettiest cars EVER made.
  20. The temp dial still controls the temp of the air from the footwell vents and the defrost vents which ultimately controls the temp of the cabin. But only fresh cold air comes from the face / binnacle vents. It's a known fact that warm air blown on the face tends to send you to sleep, not the sort of thing you want when driving. So while your passenger can be nice and warm you can have cold air blown at you. to get air from the footwells, stick the direction control to about 11 -12 o'clock If the pump is running as you say then you still have a leak somewhere, best way to find it is start tracing it from the pump, ie block off the connection leading from the pump itself and see if the pump stops if it does then move down to the next connection and block that off, you'll soon find the leak that way.
  21. You'll never get a perfect vac system and the pump should run for about a min before it first turns of then after that it should only come on for about 10 secs every 30 secs to keep the vac system evacuated. so the run stop run stop run stop is perfectly normal. As for the other problem with no hot air, which vents are you checking it from, as you'll only ever get cold air from the face vents in the instrument binnacle. Warm air should come from the screen demist and footwells.
  22. The lambo was a Urraco the Fezza was a 308 GT4 Personally I loved the Maseratti, even though it turned out to be the dog of the bunch. Just such a beautiful car.
