  1. Thanks Atwell and Chris. I did have a look at the Tayna website and I'll check out the Halfords battery – good to know also that they do the converters. I just remember someone saying that the Esprits needed a battery with a lot of oomph!
  2. Hi all Just wondering what batteries are recommended (UK) for a normally aspirated S3? Currently I have a Lucas Classic LC075 12v 60AH 540A but it needs replacing and I don't think these are available anymore. Thanks
  3. Around 5:30pm 22 August, heading north. Very nice!
  4. Just had this happen! Luckily was filling up and had already opened one cap. So now both are unlocked but screw in OK and it doesn't seem like they could come loose. Has this happened to anyone and is it OK to leave them unlocked, or should I get this sorted out as soon as possible? Thanks
  5. No airbag in the S3 unless I blow up a balloon and put it in the glove box So should be OK. Hoping to take him out on Saturday for a drive. I've put him in the car before and let him have fun with the switches etc which he loved - especially making the lights go up and down!
  6. THanks Bibs. Some good advice in there. I think I shall give it a go.
  7. Has anyone tried putting a baby seat in an S3 Esprit? I'm thinking in the passenger seat rather than anywhere precarious! I think my 3-year-old would love a ride in it. He's had fun playing with the levers and switches but I haven't yet taken him out and about. Thanks Richard
  8. May have been the same D-reg normally-aspirated that parked behind my D-reg normally-aspirated in Chipping Norton once.
  9. Seen driving down Green Lane 14 April at 5.20pm
  10. Ah so close. Right specification but not me. If it had been in Essex it could well have been :-)
  11. Seen in Green Lane, Ilford, about a week ago.
  12. Saw a black V8 SE or recent Esprit model (by the look of it) top of Drury Lane, London, this evening around 9-9.30ish. Went into a car park back of one of the theaters I think.
  13. I think you were right - dodgy earth connection on the battery. Went to start the car today and went dead again - checked the battery and yes, the earth connection was very loose. Have tightened up and seems ok now :-)
  14. Update: I took the car out for a spin the other week and the lights decided to work! First one would pop up but then switch off and on again and both popped up. I'm wondering if it is a dodgy battery issue? But then I was pulling up to a small roundabout and the whole car went dead! No lights, no engine, nothing - not even hazard lights. I pushed it to the side of the road (good job they are light cars) and luckily it then decided to work again. Has this happened to anyone else? I checked the battery connections and they seemed solid enough. Thanks Richard
  15. Many thanks for all the replies. Yes, it is the lights (possibly the switch from replies to my other recent post) as none of them are working at the moment. I also need to fit a new air-horn - I bought the kit from SJ sportscars but looks to be a bit fiddly to fit myself. Cheers Richard
  16. Hi Does anyone happen to know if there are any specialist Esprit-friendly garages around the Essex area (Ilford in particular)? Many thanks Richard
  17. Hi Not sure what the problem here is but the lights on my Esprit S3 just stopped working a couple of weeks ago. Coming back from a run I switched on the lowers and all fine. Stopped at a shop and when I started up again none of the lights would work - not even the pop-ups. Last week I checked all the fuses in the glove box and the plug-in one under the front bonnet and all seemed fine. After a while the lights did come on briefly and the pop-ups worked briefly too but then next time I tried (and since), nothing at all. I can't see any loose wires. Any ideas very welcome. Thanks Richard
  18. Many thanks - I'll check through fuel and ignition. Hopefully get it started for this lovely weather :-)
  19. Help! Started the car a month ago then a couple of weeks back tried to start it again (1986 S3 normally aspirated) but no joy. It almost sprang to life a few times but didn't catch. I did noticed that from the time before I had left the choke out. I checked the engine and also discovered that the air inlet to the engine had become unclipped (I only have three clips so sometimes happens). Trying to start the car I managed to run the battery flat. Last weekend and today I've been trying to start the car using jump leads but although it turns over, it still does not catch. Anyone any ideas of what might be wrong or how I can fix this? I have a feeling I may need a new starter motor :-( Thanks in advance Richard
  20. Thanks guys - seems like something I may be able to tackle myself. I bought this new kit after recently discovering the longer horn on the ground under the car having rusted through and fallen off! Richard
  21. Hi I've just bought an air horn kit for my S3 - does anyone know if these are easy to fit, or is it a garage job? Also I've moved from Oxford to Ilford, Essex - does anyone know of any good Esprit-friendly garages around this area? Thanks Richard
  22. Saw it again the other day - with a FOR SALE sign in the window! Didn't find it on Autotrader though. Richard
