  1. Thanks a lot Gonzalo. I'll look into it! Just got some o2 simulators in the mail today for the eventual cat removal...whenever that may be.
  2. Not trying to hijack the thread but where did you find the johan ecu? I've looked for a while and haven't had any luck.
  3. gmendoza, what mods are you sporting right now? Straight pipes, boost controller, methanol?? That is some impressive hp for mild mods!
  4. Please elaborate! Are you using enginuity free software and a cable or something more specific?
  5. When I used to have my STi, I just used the accessport and cleared all CELS. I had no cat on the car, and passed emissions testing no problem. Thanks for the links guys.
  6. I have been doing some research on removing the cats and replacing them with straight pipes. From everything I have gathered, either a race ecu or the Jegs oxygen sensor spacer will be needed in order to prevent the faulty cat check engine light from coming on. I used the part number for the spacer I found here, but nothing comes up for it on Jegs website. Does anybody know where I can find it? Will any o2 spacer work? Also, being in the states, I don't know where to order a race ecu from if I go that route. All advice helps! Thanks a lot.
  7. I was thinking that carbon build up could have been a possibility since I don't know how i twas driven before or how long ago it was last driven before it was delivered. Just anohter reason why I hate catalytic converters...that's why my STI doesnt have one anymore.
  8. Ok so I cranked the car today and the CEL is magically gone. I was going to wait until I had to take it back to the shop to get the new window seal and have them swap the 02 sensors around, but I guess now no need. Any thoughts as to what happened? Faulty codes? Something in the hot beach air that set it off?
  9. Yea I saw that all the 02 sensors are pretty much created equal so that sounds like the most logical way to go about it. Thanks Gunter.
  10. Thanks a lot guys. I'm gonna call the dealer then and see what they's about a 2 hour drive. So darn, I have to drive the lotus for 2 hours again!
  11. not to my knowledge. I took it to advance auto parts and they said it was the first lotus they had seen. the scan tool was generic and the guy using it probably didn't know what to look for. he just scanned it and said "hey you've got these codes". I still think the codes are false alarms since the car does warm up over 40 deg C in fewer than 320 seconds, and it still drives as well as it did before. If an 02 sensor is messed up in other cars I've been around, driveability is severely hurt.
  12. I'll have to do it once I'm home I suppose. The car only has 7200 or so miles on it so I can't imagine the 02 sensors would fail so soon. Usually they go later. I think it's most likely a signaling issue. I have to go back to Foreign Accents to get the passenger door seal replaced so I will have them look at it and figure it out I suppose. That probably will not be for another week or so though. The car drives exactly the same though, so at least that's good.
  13. No no live data to my knowledge. He just said that they were not pending but were active codes.
  14. I'm down at the beach now and have been driving and loving my Esprit. Temps are really high down here around 100 degrees F and sometimes even more. When I cranked the car this morning I got a CEL and it's been on all day. I pulled the codes at Advance Autoparts and they were 2 P0116 codes and a couple P0135 codes. The 116 is the coolant circuit and the 135 are 02 sensors?? Has anyone had any experience with these or seen these before? The car still cranks, idles, and drives like a dream, so maybe it's the heat getting to it. I need to drive home tomorrow which is about 4 hours from here. Should I unplug the battery and see if they come back on, or wait a little while and see if they clear up on there own?
  15. I'm not sure if this has been posted before but it's a pretty sweet video of some fun highway action. Go Esprit!
  16. I knew they did not register it like most dealers do, but the car originally came from Washington State and the title was incorrectly transfered to the dealer. I ran a car fax and everything checks out on it, but I am afraid of relying soley on that since so much can go on unreported to insurance companies. I'm gonna call the dealer back Monday and try to work something out, because like you mentioned, I do not feel comfortable sending the title back to them. I even told them that I can't send the title back trusting them since they have proven to be untrustworthy thus far. The other problem with them putting a temporary tag on the car and driving it to the body shop is that they told me that it would be put on a flat bed and taken over there. That is one of many instances where they clearly lied, since the car arrived with about 40 more miles on it than stated on the paper work and from when the car was paid for. I think there is a new law though in NC that if we show the DMV the vehicle and vin number and everything with the current title, they should title it on the spot since it all mathes. A friend told me they do it all the time in the shop he works at since so many of the classic muscle cars they build and restore come in with invalid titles as well. Changing gears to the stolen gallardo, that's just terrible. Cross your fingers this isn't the case here!
  17. The build date on the car says Jan 04. I just am having a hard time figuring out how miles were put on it if it never had a valid plate in illinois. My father and I are expecting a phone call back tomorrow from an attorney in Illinois. Meanwhile, we gotta get this title thing fixed, but overnitghting a title to an untrustworthy guy is scary...since the title was not transfered correctly from the previous owner to the dealer, and therefore cannot be transfered to us, I wonder who legally owns the car?
  18. So, I posted here a couple of weeks ago about my 04 Esprit that was on the way. Delivery was delayed due to a dent in the rear bumper metal undertray thing around the exhaust pipes. Several days later, they claim it's as good as new, and ready for delivery. So then, the car comes many days later, and instead of arriving around midnight, due to some other problems, it arrived at 7 in the morning. The car was filthy. Honestly, one of the dirtiest cars I have ever seen, and definitely the dirtiest sports car I've ever seen. There were also several oher minor problems as well. A few rock chips that the dealer never specified or photographed. The hood also does not close properly, and is eleveated noticabley on one side. The passenger winow is not sealing properly and leaks a little. The carpet and floor matts appear very dirty and stained...definitely doesn't sound like the garage kept Esprit that was promised. Then, to top it off, after spending several hours washing and waxing it, we decide to go to the DMV and get a license plate for it. As fate would have it, the dealer never properly took title from whoever traded it in, and therefore our attempt at getting a tag for the car was rejected. So now, after several weeks of delays, there lies a Lotus in the driveway that has been paid for and has an invalid title with no license plate and cannot be driven...o yea, I forgot to mention a nail in the back right tire. As soon as the truck driver got it off the truck, he pointed out the low pressure gauge noted that there was only 9psi in that tire. Sure enough, a nail is in it. Also, there are more miles on the car than advertised...kinda makes me wonder how it was driven if Diamond Star Motors never registered it in the State of Illinois, so how are there mystery miles on the car? I have to overnight him the title tomorrow, and once he receives he he must assign us the title, correctly, and then send it back with temporary tags. It just makes me wonder how a dealer can mishandle paper work, incorrectly represent the car, and deny so much of their own wrong doing. Soooo, despite all the great feedback I read about Diamond Star Motors in Nappersville Illinois, be careful! Hopefully we'll get the title straigtened out soon, since insurance has already been paid on the car for 2 weeks! I'll try to get sum pictures up asap though.
  19. This one is actually from a dealer in Illinois. I'm in North Carolina, so it will be a few days before they ship it down to me. I think the one in Texas I saw was an 03 red. Beautiful nonetheless, but something about that I liked the fact that it is the last year of production too. I will definitely post up some pictures as soon as I can. I can't wait!
  20. Hello everyone. Just joined up here a few minutes ago. An 04 Midnight Blue will be here next week and I cannot wait! I drive a 2006 Subaru STi right now and have some plans for it and love it, but cannot wait to sit behind the wheel of this amazing car. The car has 6,800 miles on it and one owner who took title to it in 2005. Garage kept and well maintained of course. I can't wait to take this thing for a drive, and just wanted to say hello to the Esprit family. I'll definitely be browsing these forums for help and general information, and will search before I ask! Here are some pictures I took..still need to get some more so hopefully I will soon!
