It's 84 weeks to 20 March 2024, the first day of Spring - wow! Previously Lotus used the definition of "Spring" to count right up to late June, which would be 97 weeks, but let's hope it's early Spring.

Did they explain why the factory is currently on shutdown? We all know about the parts supply problems, but they had been building the dealer demo cars recently. Factory tours last week suggested they were part-building customer cars then parking them up to await fitment of the handful of delayed bits. These seemed to be mostly ancillary items, such as sun visors and exhaust finishers. Usually Lotus have a summer shutdown, like many manufacturing firms. I wondered if they might handle that differently this year so they could keep building what they could.

Thanks for the comprehensive and thoughtful write up. Evora comparisons very useful too. Hurry up Lotus and deliver some customer cars! Do you remember if you were in Tour or Sport drive mode on track, or a mixture? I wonder if that had a bearing on your impression of traction control and stability exiting Andretti for example.

I've not had confirmation from a dealer yet (mine is B&C) but have been told by Hethel the demo cars are due to UK dealers in August week 2 and 3. There has certainly been evidence they were mid-build over the last few weeks when people have been doing factory tours. Customer Care have confirmed the dealers have been asked to prioritise early deposit holders first for test drives, if people want to do that before having to commit to their order. I'm not sure if dealers will contact us or we contact them. People in the first few months of deliveries have been asked to nominate a dealer for ongoing servicing even if not getting delivered there. It may be covered in the update due out this week - but that's the same update that was due last week, the week before and the week prior to that.

Fair point, but it's comms rather than PR - I try to stick to info rather than vagueness and spin

    Hello from Kent

Welcome Martin. You've come to the right place for Esprit expertise. And we're already both in the Emira watch party - was good to meet you at Festival of Speed. Hopefully some more specific news on delivery dates is coming in the next 2 weeks.

It's 65-75 weeks at the moment, because of the delay to first customer deliveries and further deposits after the Top Gear feature. I expect it'll lengthen further after UK dealer demo cars arrive in mid August, as all dealers have lists of people waiting for test drives who haven't yet placed a deposit.
  10. To mark the 30th anniversary, the Lotus 108 and 110 owners club's historian commissioned replicas of the pins given by Roger Becker to all the Type 108 project team members:
  11. Some feedback on one of the FB groups (posted by Ben Herrieven) and here: https://www.emiraforum.com/threads/emira-test-drive-by-forum-member.1670/
  12. The ad has been taken down now, so either they've found a buyer or Lotus has tracked them down. It was suggesting July build and August delivery, based on an update from Lotus in July. That seems very unlikely. I've not been proactively contacted by Lotus but have been checking in with Customer Care every 1-2 weeks. Last week they were saying the majority of first batch (around 120 cars) would be delivered in September, with a few possibly in late August. I've not had my 30 day call yet and am not aware of any others - my deposit was April 2021 and I'm in the first 20-30. Several customer cars have been built already but are awaiting a few missing parts before they can be completed. Things like sun visors and exhaust finishers. LDA cars were delivered and first session held last Saturday - cars had some cosmetic items missing but were otherwise production cars. Dealer demo cars are being built and should be at UK dealers in mid August.
  13. Try these folks: https://divinehandcraft.co.uk/collections/evora
  14. It's not the only way once dealer demo cars arrive, but it is the only way currently. It strikes me as odd the first non-press people who get to drive the cars aren't necessarily deposit holders who've been waiting over a year but instead anyone who pays £180 and was lucky enough to pick an early LDA date that wasn't cancelled. OK, some of those were deposit holders and great for the people who attended (and good to hear their feedback). To me it's another example of Lotus not thinking about their deposit holders and early adopters. We're clearly just recipients of "product" - as they don't call them "cars" these days.
  15. They seem to have enough people in front line customer service to respond to calls, emails and webchats very promptly when people contact them. The LCC people are all very helpful but often lack the necessary info to answer some questions or explain current status. The root of the comms problems lies elsewhere in Lotus. It's never a good sign when the stock response from any front line service team is to blame a different part of the organisation - the customer doesn't care about internal structures and just wants answers/info from the people they've been told to contact who represent the organisation. In the case of LCC the response over many months has often been "we haven't been given that information by 'the factory'".
  16. In the Matt Windle delay email/video just before Goodwood they said they’d contact people individually “in the next few weeks” about specifics of delays and new delivery months. And at Goodwood they said they’d be contacting people over the following two weeks. They haven’t done either, and the only updates people have got have been by phoning or emailing Customer Care. There was a generic post-Goodwood email but nothing individualised.
  17. Similar to the response I've been getting. Say one thing, promise a timeline for updates, don't meet that, need to chase them, they change what they previously said. Rinse and repeat. They still can't tell me if I'm in the September batch or if I might be in the small number in August, or tell me when they will have more info or when they'll be able to tell me a delivery date. Yes there's lots going on in the world and lots of moving parts to getting cars delivered, but the lack of comms and regular "we're sorry about the delay but we'll give you an update soon" script from Customer Care is hugely frustrating. If serial Lotus owners and enthusiasts are running out of goodwill, what hope for the folks new to the brand who are equally fed up about the lack of comms but aren't now likely to see a car delivered until winter or into 2023? In theory tomorrow is the first day of LDA running with Emiras. Looking forward to some feedback from those attending. Anyone going to the Hendy Thruxton event on Sunday will get a chance to ask Scott about what's happening. Please report back!

Customer Care told me August for dealer demo cars when I spoke to them earlier this week. Couldn’t say when in August, but people on factory tours this week have seen cars in production and been told they are dealer demos, including several LHD ones. LOG41 in Sept in the US is publicising they will have Matt Windle and a fleet of Emiras available to drive. I suspect those will go on to be the US dealer demo cars.

  22. So many cars! So many fellow Lotus enthusiasts and new friends. So many miles of smiles on great roads in amazing countryside. Plus lots of eating, drinking and chat. Brilliant work by MLOC and everyone involved in organising it.
  23. I’d previously been told by Lotus the regulation would not apply to the V6 due to timing of type approval, rather than date physically in showrooms. The i4 will likely need it, as separate type approval needed and not likely to be achieved until Q4 this year.
  24. I’m not an expert on these things. If Lotus and AMG need an extra 6 months to get a 360hp version of the i4 into the Emira, then presumably it’s not as easy as people think. I do know thermal management has been a significant factor. Lotus also want the tuning and changes to intake and exhaust to make it more “Lotus-like”.
  25. Given the challenges Lotus and AMG are having getting the i4 Emira finished, I think the suggestions of “easy” tuning may not be as realistic as people think. Headline power maybe, but thermal management and reliability may be significant factors.
