  1. I just put four new tires on my V8. So far, I love them. The fronts are the standard 235/40-17. The new pilots aren't made in 285/35-18, so I put 295/30-18 on the back. They look awesome. Has anyone else put these on their car?
  2. The Esprit and Countach have always been my two favorite classic exotic cars. I plan to purchase a 25th Anniversary model at some point. I feel they're a solid investment.
  3. The milage is high for an '01, but if its been maintained properly, that won't be an issue. The panels look yellow in some pics, but in another pic, the same panel looks orange. I really think its the lighting. Even the gear shift panel looks yellow in a pic, but its clearly orange in others. Looking at the close up pic of the badge on the back of the car, you can barely tell the difference between the bright yellow on the logo and the orange paint. That doesn't mean the car hasn't been repainted, but I believe the panels of the proper color for the car. My guess is that it has the orginal paint.
  4. I think its lower price and better availability have a great deal to do with the sales figures. I'll take rarity over the knowledge that I'm driving the best selling Lotus anyday. Like I said, I think the Elise is a beautiful car, however I don't think "supercar" when I see it. Of course, that wasn't the intention of the Elise The Esprit, on the other hand, screams "supercar", in my opinion. I'll take supercar over track car.
  5. I feel the Elise is a great track car that looks nice on the street as well. However, one of the reasons I love the Esprit so much is sheer rarity. So far in Pennsylvania this year, I have seen 15-20 Elise models. Besides my car, I have seen 1 Esprit. That's quite a difference.
  6. Its actually one of the pics that comes up when you Google "Lotus Esprit V8"
  7. Thank God for the plate. I had no idea what car that was.
  8. I have a Delorean as well. I'm not sure where to get the clock, but I haven't looked either. Here are a couple sites I know of. Chances are you have already visited them. http://www.delorean.com/ http://www.entermyworld.com/
  9. Here are mine. ZX-14 and RSVR Factory
  10. I have the 6.5" JLs in mine and they sound great.
  11. I have one of them as well. They're neat cars.
  12. Yeah, I thought that was ridiculous too! Some brands are even more than that. I do like the look and comfort of them, but, you're right, its a shame they cost twice as much as some other logos.
  13. Karl, Thanks for the compliments. Unfortunately, I wasn't with the car during the install of the subs, so I didn't see what was behind there. I do know the rear area was already sealed and didn't require any box fabrication to create good bass. I imagine the diameter of the 8" or 10" would fit, but I'm unsure of the depth. I believe they are deeper than the 6.5" subs. The small subs already required a spacer to be put in, which was covered with black carpet. This can be seen in the picture of the sub. The 10" subs may be too deep to fit properly behind the seats. I'm sure they would sound great though! I'll see if I can find any info on the depth of the larger JL subs. I will say I'm inpressed with the amount of bass produced by the 6.5" subs. However, I'm not one that needs much. Brian
  14. Here is a link to the seat belt pads. I don't think there is a picture of the Lotus version on the site, but you know what they look like now from my pic. They're very comfortable. Brian http://seatbeltpads.com/
  15. Great pictures everyone! Here's another one for the collection.
  16. I have also changed to the Raid wheel. You're right, the GM wheel is terrible. Jim Knowles was a big help in my conversion as well. I believe he still has some adaptors left. Its an outstanding wheel.
  17. Thanks. When I bought my car, the speakers were already placed in the doors. They were very poor and I changed them, but the doors had speakers already. The door and front speakers are now 6.5" woofers and 1" tweeters from MB Quart. Of course, the crossovers are in the doors as well. Here is a link to the exact model I have. http://www.mbquart.com/en/produkte/car/qli....php?nr=qsd_216 I'm very impressed with the sound of these speakers. I got them cheaper as they were a floor model without the box, etc. Hope this helps, Brian
  18. Hello guys, I recently finished my audio setup. MB Quart QSD component speakers are in the front and doors. I have 6.5" JL subs behind the seats. Two Alpine amps are in the rear space and the head unit is the Alpine IVA-D310. I don't pretend to be very knowledgeable of mobile audio so I had the installation done professionally. Plastic and wood were used to fabricate the back and it was covered with black suede and gray vinyl. The sound is outstanding (by my standards, anyway) and I'm amazed at the bass the tiny subs can produce. The rear setup takes down easily in order to get to the battery and taillights. I never used the boot space, so I don't miss it. Please tell me what you think. Thanks, Brian
  19. Thanks Jim, It does help. I'm not into bone-jarring bass either, but I need a little. I have an Alpine amp powering my front and side speakers. If I go with the subs, I'll buy an Alpine sub amp to power them. I have heard JL 6.5" subs before and they sound fine to me. Obviously not as good as larger subs, but they have plenty of bass for my needs. I can't imagine trying to install anything larger behind the seats.
  20. Hi guys, I'm looking to install 6.5" JL subwoofers behind my seats. Currently, I have 6.5" speakers there and, like many Esprit owners, I'm looking for some bass. I saw the install of these in LEW, but does anyone else have small subs behind their seats? I'm interested in comments on sound and fitting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian
