  1. Hello folks. I’m looking to get my first Lotus, and decided I’m after an Evora S. For sale my 1981 Lotus Esprit Turbo On the Dry Sump Register, the previous owner, SimonE, posted on the Forum regarding his rebuild of the engine in 2009, seemed there was an oil leak when it was started and he thereafter lost interest, I purchased in March 2019 from a Classic car dealer who presumably purchased from Simon. It was running rough when purchased so I tuned the carbs and had it running sweetly for about an hour, only then did I notice the copious amounts of oil coming from underneath, it must have leaked at least a litre in that hour, so I duly shut it down and haven’t attempted starting it since. I believe there was mention of the front crankshaft oil seal leaking, I suspect it was split when installing over the crank, easily done if the correct installation sleeve is neglected. I have the invoices for engine parts from PNM when the build was undertaken, Simon mentioned that the scavenge pumps were inspected and found to be in excellent condition. The cambelt is now 12 years old and I wouldn’t attempt another start until that is changed and the crankshaft oil seal replaced, it was my intention to take the engine out and attend to its requirements, however, I have other commitments and I doubt I will ever get around to it, 10 years ago I would have whipped the engine out on the day of purchase, I find that I no longer have the inclination, sign of getting old I guess. I have owned four Esprits and worked on them all, but I am not sure whether the crankshaft oil seal can be changed in situ, I believe it can but I can’t be certain, the cambelt can be done without removing the engine and I have done so several times. It is a highly desirable car nonetheless, body and paint in great condition, the interior was slightly faded when purchased and I have had time to recolour the leather in the original Lotus shade which was colour matched to Mustard by Furniture Clinic after I sent them a sample removed from under the seat, the interior now looks like new and has a great smell, there are no splits in the leather, just had to fill in a few nicks. I currently have the Esprit, an Altair Green Elite S2.2 and a Monaco White Eclat S2.2, I have decided to sell two and consequently will be putting the others up for sale, whatever remains after two have sold will be kept, if it is the Esprit then so be it, I will eventually get around to sorting out the engine.   8. Selling my fantastic Lotus Evora 400. I’ve had this car since 2019 and have absolutely loved it. Now has come the time to sell to help fund a house extension. The 400 is absolutely fantastic and great value compared to the pricier models whist offering a significant upgrade on the earlier models. – Metallic white with red half leather/Half alcantara interior. – 6 speed manual – full main dealer lotus service history – in my ownership this has been done at Bell and Colvill who are very well reputed – last service in December was the relatively larger 4 year service costing approx 1000. The service needed later this year will be nice and cheap – Michelin pilot sport 4s tyres which have around 7k miles on them. These are excellent tyres with lots of life left- I’d consider a cheaper part exchange (an S1 or s2 Elise in particular would be very welcome.. maybe a caterham!)   10. Had a glass roof on my 1995 S4S.. Sold to car with the original hard top and kept the glass roof. Roof is in spectacular condition with a leather cover. Shipping to England may be expensive so I’ll have to check, but USA no problem. I believe it will fit all late model Esprit’s, including the V8 models. Check first.   20. This 2. 2 litre Lotus Eclat was last on the road in April 2018. It has been stored in a dry barn since then. The Lotus 912 twin cam engine was running when last started in 2019, but was smoking, cause unknown. The engine is probably due for a top end overhaul, for which parts are widely available. The rear suspension also needs attention. The cam belt and clutch are recent, the carbs were reconditioned in 2015, and the five speed ZF gearbox and brakes were fine when last driven. When stored in 2018, the instruments and the electrics, including the pop up headlamps and the single wiper, were all working, but they have not been tested since 2018. One of the sidelight/ indicators covers is cracked. The chassis is galvanised and the driver’s door steel beam was replaced by Lotusbits in 2018. The JPS decals scheme was probably applied by a dealer or a previous owner, as the factory did not do a JPS version of the Eclat. The car looks better in photographs than it does in reality. The paint is variable – good in places but flat in others. The black and grey tweed seats are in fair condition apart from one old cigarette burn. The carpets are good but the headlining has detached. The Falken tyres have lots of tread but replacement would be wise because the car has been standing for over three years. Also all hoses and seals should, I suggest, be checked in case of perishing. I have too many other cars, and this project isn’t getting done, so I offer the car for sale to someone who might like to fix it up. The car can be viewed in South Oxfordshire, close to junction 6 M40. This car is a project and will need to be trailered away.   21. I have a set of calipers, for an Evora S, but think they will fit the NA (byer to check). I purchased these with a view to changing my yellows ones, but never got around to it. I have added an image of the costs if purchased from deroure.com. The are a small number of scratches from storage but they are not on the visible side o the calipers. I have tried to show them in the photos. I’m open to reasonable offers.   22. LOTUS ESPRIT V8 GT Year: 1999 Lotus began delivering the Esprit in 1976 and the final examples of the 10,500 units built didn’t roll out of the production halls until 28 years later in 2003. Its extreme, yet classical and timeless wedge shape was based on design proposals by Giorgetto Giugiaro and didn’t undergo a major facelift until 1988. The low vehicle height of just 1.12 metres is also extreme and makes it appear incredibly fast, even when stationary. Most Esprits were fitted with 4-cylinder engines with a 2 or 2.2-litre displacement. From 1996, the Esprit could also be ordered with the newly-developed 3.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. Approximately 1,500 buyers now found themselves equipped with car engines on a par with the super sports cars from famous Italian car manufacturers. The exterior is finished in the striking combination of Azure Blue with Gun Metal Grey, 6 spoke O.Z Racing wheels. Along the side and to the rear there are various decals celebrating Lotus and even a Colin Chapman signature to the rear. The interior is striking with the door cards and Carbon Fibre Bucket seats being trimmed in Magnolia leather with blue Alcantara inserts, the seats have V8 embroidered to the top and the door cards have the Lotus Emblem to the centre. The rest of the interior is finished in black leather and carpet throughout. To the road, power certainly is not in short supply with the 3.5 litre V8 twin turbo engine producing 345 hp, and as ever the lotus has the handling ability to support this power. I purchase a centre Stainless steel exhaust from PNM Engineering in august of 2019 and the car sounds awesome. We also refreshed the wishbone bushes, gearbox and engine mounts. It has had a 17 dealer services as stamped in the service booklet. A major service was carried out in July 2019 which include Cambelts, tensioners and idlers totalling £1600. It has just been serviced on 16th June 2021 at a cost of £1100. This was also when the MOT was done.
