Custom 1990 Lotus Esprit SE $30,000 USD

I am the third owner. The car was built by someone who worked for Lotus USA and was his project while completing an automotive engineering and design degree. The starting point was a damaged 30,000 mile 1990 SE that was hit in the driver's side rear corner. Damage was limited to the body and a few bent suspension components on that corner - that is the reason for the PA branded title. First, the body was removed from the frame. The engine & transmission were removed. Everything that was damaged was replaced then massive upgrades were done that are listed in detail below. The endpoint is a fully reconditioned and re-engineered John Welch tuned 400 BHP lightweight Supercar with the look of a late-model V8 and over $50,000 added in parts, paint and labor. This car easily has thousands of man hours on the restoration/rebuild/upgrades. This car was the result of letting an engineer go wild with every resource available to him - CAD, laser fab, and too much time and $$.Body:Stunning, color sanded, and polished show car paint2004 V8 front and rear bumpers, valance, side sills, wheel arches, and rear light panel from SJ Sports CarsNew windshield - the old one was removed in the process of re-doing the interior.Round V8 taillightsV8 style rear wingCustomized V8 rear hatch (totally unique - slight custom power bulge to clear the oversized intercoolerPIAA performance driving lightsColor matched door handlesExtra strengthening and stiffening of the body connections in the rear of the car.Interior:Custom black and tan leather workBrand-new custom black carpetingCustom Lotus black and tan floor matsLotus Elise thin shell seats with custom fully adjustable, machined aluminum bracketsAll stock insulation removed and replaced with Dynamat sound deadening and thermal liners including in the doorsAll brand new VDO electric speedo, tach, and boost gaugesCustom gloss black, piano-lacquer dash1,000 watt Blaupunkt stereo/amp with matched 10 speaker system (Bluetooth, ipod, and hands free phone connection)Window tracks and window motors rebuilt with larger dedicated wire and relay pack installed along with new motor brushes (these windows reliably work and are fast)Custom brushed aluminum directional stalks, center plate, and sill platesCustom Aluminum shifterRaid steering wheel conversionEngine:All new seals including head gasket, intake, and exhaustWater and oil pump were rebuiltNew custom front oil coolersAdjustable Cam pulleyCustom 3 inch stainless magna flow exhaust and high flow racing CATWideband Zeitronix 02 SensorHead removed and cleaned with valve guides replaced along with a multi-angle valve jobAll valves adjusted and re-shimmedAll belts replacedElectrical:All sensors replacedNew GM ECUCustom Memcal from John Welch at WC engineeringFuel system:Walbro high flow fuel pumpAN - 6 braided steel linesAll Earl fittingsRC Racing 370 cc primary and secondary injectorsAeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulatorIntegrated Fuel pressure gaugeFuel tanks removed, stripped, resealed, and recoatedIgnition:MSD ignition coilsNew spark plug wiresTurbo system:Garrett GT 3071R ceramic ball bearingCustom high pressure, Forge wastegate actuatorNew Lotus headerAircraft grade steel reinforced double-walled silicon intake tubingK&N air filter with RAM air modificationMassive custom-built Bell charge coolerHigh flow electric charge cooler pumpManual boost control valveGearbox:V8 transmissionStripped, cleaned with all new sealsFifth gear rebuildShift linkage change to later V-8 style to improve shifter feelSuspension:New 2005 Lotus Bilstein and Eibach suspensionNew rear radius armsCustom rear camber adjustable upper control armsPolyurethane bushings all the way aroundLate model V-8 OZ racing wheelsYokohama Adan Neova tiresClutch:New high performance clutch and pressure plateResurfaced flywheelNew master cylinderNew slave cylinderBraided steel clutch lineBrakes:Front four-piston mono block Brembo calipersLarge cross drilled rotors and hats from JAE partsBraided steel lines from JAE partsEBC brake pads my van and gingerOther:While I owned the car, I have installed a larger bore clutch master cylinder for better shifting. Also, because the pilot bearing went out, the clutch was removed. In the process, the disk was damaged and so the shop replaced the clutch disk and pressure plate along with a new pilot bearing for free. I also replaced the air conditioning receiver/dryer and changed everything over to R134a.Contact me for video.
