  1. All week rather than just today. My wife and I were heavily involved in hockey when we lived in Africa, and currently, the Africa Cup of Nations is being played in Accra, Ghana - with "our" country involved in both the men's and women's competitions. This is being broadcast live over the internet, so we have been watching the matches. There has been a lot of shouting at the monitor
  2. Reading the original link, it's only the residents of the road that are consulted, yet they were quoting someone in favour, who owns a business and doesn't live on the road in question. Karma if someone objected to the name of his hotel
  3. Gray - mine is on the right (only image I could find of my wheel - I made it a while back to show the difference in gap between the wheel arch of MY85 and MY82) Again - painted not polished, as it was from the factory.
  4. I had my 82 Turbo Esprit wheels refurbed in Milton Keynes - but mine are painted not polished. It was sorted via GST so I'm not 100% sure which company (although I think it as Supreme wheels). I can find out if you want.
  5. Thought I'd put this here rather than start a new thread. Amazon U-turns on decision to scrap Visa credit cards in UK (yahoo.com) I did think that this might happen.
  6. I've been to Australia once for the Hockey World Cup in Perth in 2002. Was really looking forward to it, I enjoyed the world cup and enjoyed seeing a cousin for the first time in 20+ years, but have absolutely no interest in going there again as there seem to be so many petty rules. One example, we had official transport (a minibus) from the hotels to the venue. While waiting at one hotel for some other people to join us, it was rather hot, and I opened my window, rested my arm on it, so my elbow was poking out the window. I was shouted at by the driver to get my arm in as it was against the law to have an arm out of the window. WTF I thought and asked what is the point of having a window that opens then? Arms and hands out of car window illegal in Australia (yahoo.com)
  7. It was a factory fitted option - probably from MY85 onwards (the ones with colour coding as standard). Did it ever become standard fit at some point on the G cars - maybe the HC? I don't have one on my MY82, but I think it should have a bag or such like to fit it into the boot/trunk and isn't there wind deflector as well?
  8. @Bravo73 Correct - INEOS Grenadier I'm currently planning a long leisurely African Safari (Cape Town to East Africa) in 3 or so years time. Have been advised to buy a pre 1996 Defender - which when prepared would probably end up costing £30k+ - and still end up with a 30 year old vehicle, which is slow & uncomfortable - but will go anywhere. I've also looked at a Discover 3/4 - would be speedy & comfortable, but maybe too many issues, and a classic Range Rover (my favourite), but again looking at £30k plus price to prepare. When I discovered the Ineos, it went to the top of the list, and the deposit is refundable - so nothing to lose (I hope)
  9. You're f**king right you're sorry, says Queen | The Daily Mash
  10. Currently this (on a lease running out later this year) Have reserved (refundable) one of these to replace it
  11. Anyone else gets pissed of with "Cookie Options" ? I made a clean install of Windows 11 a couple of weekends ago, so I have the joy of being presented with a accept/reject cookies popup for most new websites I visit. I normally reject all but necessary cookies (which you normally can't delete). Most websites are simple and straight forward , others however , f**k me, what a palaver. For example UKTV In this case you can't get to the next page without clicking "Yes Agreed" - and when you click the Cookie Policy, a new tab opens up with this page: Cookie Notice | UKTV Scrolling down: Clicking "Opt Out" for each of these goes to another bloody page (different website - with another accept/reject cookies) And scrolling down further to Advertising cookies There's also a link to YourOnlineChoices.eu - Your ad choices (UK page) - where you can turn on or off individual companies, most of which don.t seem to do anything. I went down each of these Opt Out links (sad I know), and I have no idea if I have managed to opt out of any of them as when I go back in (today), I'm presented with the same options as yesterday Now I go back to the UKTV site, and I still get the bloody "Yes I Agree", "Cookie Policy" option - and I must press the "Yes Agreed" to continue. I have no idea what I have agreed to This is the issue that caused this thread. Today I went to the ONS site, and got redirected to this: Cookies - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk) I cannot understand the option I'm given The Options are On or Off Does this mean "On" - Turn Google or Hotjar On "On" - "Yes" - do not allow Google or Hotjar I buggered if I know.
  12. Make sure that the belts have been changed recently (last 3 years or so), don't go by mileage. Re Phone/Google Maps. You will need somewhere to mount the phone holder - there is a current thread running on this. In my 82MY Esprit I have cigar lighters in both doors (not sure abut 87 US Spec though), however, I normally use a PowerPack to keep the phone charged, and I just keep it between the seat and the door. Phone is on the quarter light. Here's a picture of a LHD 87 TE - lighter circled.
  13. A good new story. #The 86-year-old runner who refuses to slow down - BBC News We've got a chap at my hockey club still playing at 85. Last year when I played a match with my son (who is the youngest male hockey player at the club) on the team he plays for, there's a 73 year age gap.
  14. Lord Frost: Covid lockdowns were a serious mistake – the Government needs to do ‘stuff that works’ (telegraph.co.uk)
  15. Found some more info for you Deaths from COVID-19 with no other underlying causes - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk)
  16. ChrisJ fay2000 Janet + Ade Dave Eds + 1 Eren Wayne + Michelle Pete + 2 Any more ?
  17. Thanks for the answers. Yes I saw some of those monstrosities while searching for images of the front bumper. I never realised that a completely different light unit was used - and when seeing the still from the film I posted, I though what on earth are those. Does anyone know the reason for the larger "cut-out" (not sure what to term it) are surrounding the light? And why the lights are slanted? They also look as though they are inset into the bumper, which again looks strange. This front looks a lot neater - is it a later bumper on a 1980 S2?
  18. Just (re)watching the Haggarty 1978 Lotus Esprit S2 goes 900 miles YouTube video and at 3:18 there is a closeup of the front lights I thought S2s had the same front indicator/side-lights as the early S3s. Obviously not. The bumper looks very strange with the large indentation, and the lights in the bumper are not pointing straight ahead. At 3:11 the headlights are turned on and these bumper lights come on - so they are the side lights? Where are the front indicators, or do these double up as indicators as well? edit to add: @ 12:47 they flash, so yes they do double up. I have found a couple more images of the front of a US spec S2, and the layout is the same, so I realise that this imust be the US spec bumper. Just looks strange to me as I'm accustomed to the European front.
