  1. Greetings and welcome, Dave. Food for thought regarding the NA/Turbo:
  2. Merry Christmas to Loti everywhere. I just finished listening to the Jethro Tull Christmas Album and it reminded me of a photo I'd seen years ago. I'm off to the family gathering in an hour, but I think I'll leave the blow-up doll behind.

  4. Except that it simply does NOT lead to consumers purchasing music when they can stream and even listen offline for essentially nothing. As Anil pointed out in the video, there's no incentive. And there's simply no data to indicate that streaming services are turning the 37% like me who only buy music and support musicians into a significantly higher percentage. Thinking it will appreciably lead to purchases is wishful consumer-speak, not musician-speak. I suspect that if you were in their shoes you'd be just as bent as they are at having their work so monumentally undercompensated while a bunch of musically talentless startup jackoffs are reaping huge profits.

  6. I started a thread on this topic already at http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/46332-the-driving-music-thread/ Pardon me as I semi-rant about Spotify, or as I call it, SpitInYourEye, but I have many friends who are well-known independent musicians who get, as my British friends would say, F all from Spotify. Example (actual "royalty" check from Spotify): Care to guess how many plays that's based on? You wouldn't believe it. Put another way, that's a check to a musician who is an NEA Jazz Masters Lifetime Achievement Award winner from the National Endowment for the Arts. Also, watch this video by my friend, Anil Prasad (creator and curator of http://innerviews.org) as he lays out the despicable economic reality of streaming services for musicians:
  7. You might want to take a look at this: http://www.lotusespritrestoration.com/2010/06/restoring-s1-lotus-esprit-wofrace.html And these for center caps: http://www.datman.co.uk/wolfrace/index.htm I ordered center caps from him and they're great.
  8. http://www.ingeniousaudio.co.uk/ http://www.gizmag.com/jack-wi-fi-guitar-interface/35287/ Dunno. I still think I'd rather have one of these sticking out my jack (no rude jokes, please).
  9. The fundamentals of the Moog guitar really are revolutionary:
  10. Thanks very much. I'm not too proud to admit that number of switches is inversely proportional to talent. Also, just to seal my reputation as a complete gear whore (quantity of gear is also inversely proportional to talent), I have Moog Taurus 3 Pedals...in a flight case.
  11. By far my weirdest axe--a one of a kind 2011 Moog Paul Vo Collector's Edition Guitar, in Black Burst on a AAAAA flame top, with w/ MIDI & Vo Power Control Mod. It might as well be a completely new instrument and I'm still learning the ins and outs. Got more switches that the Battlestar Galactica. Last two shots are before the Vo Power Control mod was done. You can click to blow them up.
  12. Seriously? That's messed up. I mean, you are of course quite horrible, but still, manners.
  13. Me too. I actually loathe Floyds, but thought it might be interesting to this with a more deft touch than me. I feel like if you simply breath on a Floyd it goes whammy.

  20. http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/11/return-of-the-canyon-king/ For what it's worth, Wes Fredericks, Bob Fogle, WhiskyBob, CABT, my fiancée, Judith, and I had dinner with Frank, his lovely wife, Toni, and their local NYC friend, Anthony, last month here in NYC, and despite what you might think, Frank is one of the most humble, generous, and funny dudes I've ever met. It was a 4+ hour dinner and it was great. If you ever find yourself heading to LA, look up Frank and have him slosh your noggin on the twisties. I sure will.
  21. I'm going to tentatively add my fiancee and me back to the list before all the slots are taken up: Bibs - One of each 2. Laura - tbc 3. Kimbers - Prawn Cocktail, Turkey, Ice Cream 4. But if it's a yes, wanted to throw our names in the hat before the slots ran out. Thanks.
