  1. When I was watching a video, I think the actual Goodwood FoS Thursday full day vid on U-Tube, I saw the brake light coming on across the rear of the car a couple of times and though looked neat solution.
  2. Laura my dealer up in Scotland is on the ball and in touch by email today with instructions what to do and a form to complete to get my deposit returned from them. πŸ‘

  4. I have been using my Evoras as daily drivers in Scotland since 2009 Launch. I do have a second set of winter wheels and tyres to Lotus Spec (but haven't needed them last couple of winters as so mild) Absolutely no problem with salt and such like and underside is still fine. Drives well in the snow until the front splitter I fitted acts as a snow plow. (Having said that although it looks lower than my previous Boxster S with factory body kit, it isn't, as doesn't hit the same kerbs nose in parking. I do see the underside of my car as have a 4 post ramp for storage although I do have one of those Karcher underbody cleaning attachments I use in the springtime after salt season finished. (About March up my way) The tyres may be the same size and name but will be different compounds. Having said that I religiously stayed with Evora spec Pirelli P Zeros to Lotus Spec or whatever for years but then changed when the 400's came out and I saw they were on Michelins and for me a) I couldn't tell the difference in fast road driving and b) my wallet didn't feel nearly as light as I managed to get past 5K miles for a set of rears for the first time.🀣

    Lotus Emira

Yep definitely new to Lotus! This always seems the way and I guess deliberate. Gets the market talking about it, gets our juices flowing, gets everybody pent up waiting for the next snippet or step - dealer static preview/ spec and price release/ Car mag drives/ dealer demo/customer cars. Then there will be the Lotus Marketing trolls who will be watching forums like this to see what a) new customers to the brand think and b) what serial Lotus owners like me think being on my 4th Evora and with other ones in the family or garage. There is that expression there is no such thing as bad publicity in motorsport and I guess this is the same. Doesn't time just drag though! Only just over 2 weeks since launch! πŸ™„
  6. She's alive! πŸ₯° I'd lost track of current owner! Good to see one of the oldest around still looking so good. What mileage are you up to now? I'm still driving my 4th one.

    Lotus Emira

They have said not in one of the interviews. in the case of the Evora they said they to me on a factory visit at about the same stage we are at now with the Emira that they were going to do a soft top or targa (manual removable panels) and some 12+ years later we are still waiting. πŸ˜–. So who knows. Never say never! πŸ˜†
  8. So does anybody actually know where they sit on this mythical order queue/list? 🧐 I haven’t seen a single post showing that, although some seem to be aware of their date of landing on said queue. I placed my order via dealer and am still waiting to hear more info when available
  9. I You beat me to the comment about the Evora. I hadn't seen it mentioned prior to last week but I have seen him mention it about 3 different interviews now. Out somewhere in the States on the W coast it seems? If true then maybe a true fan boy even before the latest crop of toys.
  10. Oooooh I like the conspiracy theory, & I can see why you would think that way. Are you a lawyer per chance? Or is that just general sales knowledge of your rights that I have never paid any attention to, to be honest. Having said that I'm not sure you will be invited to an event to sign your order. That will just be a normal sit across desk from sales thing. To be fair to Lotus last time those of us brave souls who did place an Evora deposit early were invited to Hethel for a tour of the whole place inc. design studio with clay full sized model and a factory guided tour (same as you get on a half day Scare Yourself Sensible tour) when the production was put back. That allowed us (SWMBO was having a say in colour choice) to see many different colours. I also remember the very early cars had no sun visor mirror which my wife told the design team over lunch was ridiculous for a car of it's type. Soon after we took delivery of our car (without visor) one arrived in Edinburgh for fitting, so somebody had paid attention! πŸ‘
  11. Like JCR I just hope they take their time and when finally ready they let us drive them and no sooner due to perceived pressure. At least doing it this way they are able to judge if they have it right or not. Evidently yes by the number of deposits. If they actually watch some of these forum posts they will also be seeing feedback and concerns/wishes. I was told that my deposit only becomes non-refundable when I spec the order. As I have said to dealer I am willing to slip back in the list if required to ensure I get to drive and read road tests this time (I didn't with the Evora launch) before I spec. For me there will be limited risk once I do bite bullet. I guess that is a quandary some FE buyers may not have depending on exact timing and position on list.
  12. Ha ha, typical. There isn't anything to check! It just fails. It isn't expensive part and will fail completely eventually so at your leisure I'd get it changed. Fingers crossed for the weather. Did you go up via Glen Coe. One of my favourite roads.
  13. Hi Jamie, welcome belatedly to the forum. Keep an eye out on LEGS section of the forum for any of the Scottish Meetings. You don't need to be in a Lotus to come along and meet everybody. In fact off season we have quite a few non Lotus driving that day owners turn out. Although the majority of LEGS members are Central Belt we do try and spread the monthly Breakfast Clubs meetings around. We are also on FB but I know nothing of the dark side. We also have a WhatsApp group for passing general meeting information around which I could add you to if you PM me your phone number. Many, many of the members will vouch for Craig for anything Warranty can't handle. Parks are still finding their feet having taken over a bit of a mess. Craig knows lots of people and may be aware of cars coming on the market and can marry up buyers and sellers if you let him know your requirements.

    Emira - technical

When the Evora launched I remember seeing all the photos of the crashed chassis and reading stories about how it was so rigid they had actually used the same chassis for a number of different test (different ends!) as it so exeeded requirements. I can certainly vouch for that as I tried to destroy my LE car by being T boned on nearside. It was rebuilt without any new tub or front rear structure as still millimetre perfect.
  15. Well our Scottish dealer told me the 2 show cars or similar ones will tour dealers in Sept/Oct but will be like GFoS static sitting in only no test drives. That is exactly the same as when the Evora launched in Aug 08 at Brit Motor show. Same car toured dealers in about Nov that year with some of the management team. This was when first deliveries were touted at being March 09 They also said they were not expecting demo cars until March/April with first customer cars close behind, and that was exactly the same in Sept 09 when we finally got the first cars. I think I test-drove a demo about 1 month before my LE car arrived. Of course much has changed since then, so who knows.........

    Goodwood car park...

I remember it as well featuring a lot back in the early days wondering why I hadn't gone for white 🀐
  17. Your symptoms are all pointing at a brake switch and my car had the same symptoms last month. You will also find the Cruise Control will not work and if you have a sport button to open exhaust it will not work either. Craig Moncrieff our independent Lotus guru in Edinburgh immediately diagnosed it and carries stock of the bit as he replaces about 1 every couple of weeks. It was fitted while I waited in about 1 hour total from arrival. Does your trip take you anywhere near Edinburgh?
  18. Have you been yet, or what dates are you thinking?
  19. Our Lexus RX has the rear cross traffic feature and it does not appear to have any more than the usual flat colour coded circular sensors in 4 places and the usual reversing camera in usual location above number plate all like the Evora. Not sure which bit of the kit is actually doing the measurement but the warning flashes up on the camera picture on screen with reverse selected with all sorts of dire warnings when it detects anything. (much like a load of other tech I dislike) Not sure if rear crossing alert is active when in forward gear though and not sure I care enough to read a manual πŸ˜† (Last option for a man)
  20. Well spotted. πŸ‘ Looks like one for sure. Just hope that isn't the reversing sensor or cross traffic thingy.
  21. Looks like we will have quite a few out in Gods driving country from what I'm hearing from Laura and some PM's. πŸ‘
  22. Only some are Brian. Length 4,412mm; width 1,895mm (mirrors folded); height 1,225mm; wheelbase 2,575mm Gleaned from well down in the TLF home page link to Lotus Emira: The most accomplished Lotus ever made.
  23. A reversing camera? πŸ€” There are enough screens! Just realised I have only seen talk of rear parking sensors (with optional front ones) and other tech like rear cross collision alert and other "market demands" toys I never use on our other cars. I have got used to cameras over last 12 years on my Evora's and also our other cars like Evoque then Lexus. I still use the wiring mirrors but camera still great in many situations. Not exactly heavy either when all the other stuff is being added on
  24. Identical to my choice if I had to pick at the moment.....
  25. Well one of the reasons I don't want a Launch or should I say First Edition car is the limited colour choice for starters. Also once you see the cars in the flesh in other colours some stand out much better than expected. I remember the heartache having to spec my LE Evora way before seeing any. A few cars had been seen in Aquamarine and we wanted the Oyster interior so went for that. I was always disappointed in my choice although SWMBO liked it. I soon got my first of 2 Ardent Red cars and the Sport Racer look (black pack in todays language) is on my 2nd one and would be my first choice again. It is still much commented on everywhere we go and I'd have to see that new Magma Red in the light to change my mind on it. I do like the Laser Blue as one of my sons had an S until recently in it and it does pop. SWMBO would want Nightfall Blue.
