That interior Pic is of Paul's 017 car which is the one in the auction - It was from the Classic Car magazine's Esprit test in '96 - I remember he wasn't happy the picture made the leather look more lip-gloss red than it was when published. Also that's Paul's son who inherited the Essex pictured riding in James Grantham's test and development G car wearing X180 alloys, with Paul driving 017 behind.......

  4. I know Leigh Greenham is on here somewhere - probably on the Elite section but I really hope he has seen the latest additions to the Motorsport Images collection - I've seen plenty of the car in period but not with ACBC himself!

  6. Weirdly it comes up as being on a 1976 Chrysler via the VOSA site - which in itself is probably scrapped now as Untaxed / Last log book mid'80's? Guessing it was the original plate on purchase but quickly moved on to a private one.
  7. Apols if posted before but just stumbled on this one - Former owner of Mallory park and racer Chris Meek who sadly passed away a few years ago. Not sure if it was his but interesting to see nonetheless. I met him at the unveiling of the Chapman statue at the circuit in 1998. Quite a character it seems...........
  8. Finally some pics and a Video for Paul's old Essex. Looks nice to be fair. Looks like they've added the boss back on to the wheel. Paul removed it once and we liked the look with the exposed bolts on the boss plus the MOMO logo and found the JPS badge - been discussed before - possibly a leftover batch from the JPS S2 cars? Also note the Essex cam-covers. I think I can reveal now that these were not originally on Paul's car - in fact they are not even originals. Again it was whatever was on the line at the time but Paul wanted a pair on as soon as he saw another with them fitted so being a skilled chap and owning his own engineering business with CNC tooling we scanned the original logo's and made our own set which we then bonded on - looks like they've lasted well! Will watch the sale with interest. BTW I'd love to know who did the work if anyone knows/finds out?
  9. Yes the Dewey family will be disappointed to learn I think that its being sold again but I understand its a choice and was a probable investment. I had some terrific trips driving that car................ I've also passed on the link for interest to the cars original owner from new David Preston.

  11. Yep great to see a few Lotus models and T-shirt wearer's around Silverstone yesterday whilst there for the race - still alot of love for the great marque - Crikey it was hot both on and off the circuit though!
  12. Jack last heard of in Paris. He ran Essex Petroleum out of his Monaco apartment (see earlier pics on this thread) until it all went pear-shaped.

  19. Chris do you reckon £10k would cover it - worst case? Don't want to ask too personal a question re:bills but after a ball park for the work to be done.
  20. I think it will start - the Clutch pedal is solid but pretty sure that's the Master cylinder. Would you not want the belts changing before any attempt?
  21. OK vague question here but I need to start considering how much it will cost me to get my Esprit going again after being off the road for many years. The car is a G HC Turbo '87 - one of the last G cars. Its done 54k from new and I have had it nearly 30 years now. Pull the covers off and it still look superb however its not been started now for some 9 years so requires a complete mechanical overhaul. Yes I know its not the right thing to have done to have had it sitting there for so long but there are other factors that caused which I don't want to discuss here. So anyone who was in the same boat - How much did to cost to return to the road.......................... I'd love to be behind the wheel of it again.

  23. Whose page was that posted in Dave? Tenuous Essex link here but was sad to read of the passing of Mansour Ojjeh - for those that don't know Ojjeh was the chap who bailed Thieme out of Jail though would love to know more about their connection.
