It was the message from 13th April that gave that impression Chris.  I know that ProAlloy are always busy, so not surprised that progress is slower than expected.

Ah yes, this comment I suspect "I have managed to re-establish contact with ProAlloy after a period of radio silence and they have said they will contact Nick shortly to get his car in and get started on the templates and jigs."

I will have to work on a new definition of the term 'shortly', I was hoping it was accurate when I wrote it. 🤣

    cheers

  2. Hi @cammmy

Your post says you have bought a tool but you go on to enquire about borrowing one, I suspect a typo somewhere. 🙂

I have the seal insertion tool and have lent it out in the past without issues. If you want to contact me with a direct message I'm sure we can sort something out. 👍

    cheers

McMaster-Carr in the USA sells the plastic clips (called P-Clips)

A bit of Googling for sources near you would certainly find some replacements. You can buy them in all different sizes.

Hi Atwell, I couldn't find these clips in the McMaster-Carr website and I don't think these are P-Clips because they are open ended (although I could be completely wrong on that front), if you have a link to some I would be very grateful. At the moment I have resorted to ordering some sheep plastics and may have to make some myself. I am trying nylon and polypropylene to start with hoping they exhibit the correct properties. 🙂

  4. Hi All,

Can anyone tell me where I can get some of these (they hold the water and coolant pipes to the body or frame at various points and come in different sizes)...

Also when making brake lines, the male flares appear to be DIN flares but there doesn't seem to be a female DIN flare, would these be SAE double flares or am I an idiot?

Finally does anyone know where I can find suitable M10 female to female adaptors in stainless steel? There are plenty in zinc plated steel but I can't find any in Stainless. Even a machine shop that can make them would be a welcome steer.

    cheers

Mike. my bearings are only 10mm wide, dont know if i can fit wider roller type.

My engine was a development engine so maybee that wider bearing was thought a better bet for the production engine. Here is a pic of inside my front cover compared to a pic you posted for reference a couple of years ago, mine(the dirty one) has had to be relived to clear the chain tensioner bolts and the right hand side of the production part is recessed away from the block compared to mine ?

Wow, that's interesting. I have a new cover for my rebuild, the oil pump parts had some scoring and it seemed almost economical sense to replace the whole thing including PRV. I have no plans for the original cover if you think it might be a useful upgrade?

(I will however need to check the replacement is of the correct type now I know there is more than one 🙂  )

The assumption since the canyon red car went on at £31k yesterday has been that that is where the market is. Evidence for this, a px 'value' (chortle) and what someone has offered Kimbers is scant at best. A recent sale at £27.5k is far more compelling. The market 'spread' is of little relevance when cars at the bottom of it are just as desirable as those at the top.

I think you may be missing the difference between an asking price and a sale price, we have no idea if there is any flexibility in the asking price. If price is the only concern, I reiterate, a conversation with the seller might be worth the 5 minutes it would take.

  9. Hi All,

I have managed to re-establish contact with ProAlloy after a period of radio silence and they have said they will contact Nick shortly to get his car in and get started on the templates and jigs.

Mike, I did get a picture of the pre-rad (I'm not sure if it's the type you were hoping for?) but to the others I am working on a clear and concise list of what additional parts will be needed (I am not expecting any) to complete the installation.

The kit does require a modification to existing turbo to inlet pipes, Mike has a few sets that he is willing to sell if people are interested to preserve theirs as original and also minimise any time where they need to be taken off the car and sent to ProAlloy for return. If anyone is interested in those, please speak up and maybe we can appeal to Mike for a great price to help the project. 🙂

I've had the offer of help from a gentleman on Facebook who lives near to ProAlloy and drives a 4 cylinder Esprit, Ralph Wilton. Ralph is a retired engineer and is the inventor of Belt in Oil Technology and he also created the first long life cam belts. If we need a site visit for any reason Ralph will help us.

I will be sending the list to ProAlloy today and telling them to build 10 kits minimum, further updates as things progress.

    cheers

    -Chris

I should also state that if there are any newcomers to this thread who would also like to join the list please just shout, there is still time. 🙂

  10. Hi All,

    A quick update.

Nick's car is available now and I am trying to get ProAlloy to agree a timeline to copy the kit and begin production (it would be much easier if they would return my calls or emails but I will get through eventually).

I plan on sending a private message to each of you to ask for your email address and to ask if it is OK to share your details with ProAlloy as they would like to confirm that customers do exist.

If anyone on the list below has changed their mind please let me know now so that we can avoid any embarrassing conversations with ProAlloy later. 🙂

    1. Chris W ( @cweeden )

    2. Mike Sekinger (for stock) ( @mike_sekinger )

    3. Alex Adamou  ( Facebook)

    4. Paul Colclough (Facebook)

    5. Dave Excell ( @dave excell )

    6. Dan Tebay ( @DanT )

    7. Jan (Lotus Talk)

    8. Steve M ( @esprit17 )

    9. Sacha Gyte ( @Mightymetro )

    10. Andy Blackman ?? ( @andyblackman777 )

Also if anyone else reading this wants to join the group buy please let me know.

    cheers

    -Chris
