  1. What Elise has to do with this? I thought the bloody discussion was about Esprit spare tire. Cheers, Zig
  2. I was also made aware that the spare tire is a part of front crash absorption zone. The spare tire was specified as a part of the Esprit front end crash zone protection in US bound cars and were crash tested that way. Can't comment on the cost saving spare tyre delete by the factory on GT3 and V8 GT models which were never US bound... BTW... How long non-airbag models were sold in UK while airbag was a requirement for US market? Zig
  3. I appreciate all the inputs I received. Cam sprockets arrived yesterday :-) Thanks to Dave's Cam timing article I feel now confident in setting cams correctly. Cheers, Zig
  4. I have 1995 S4S US version and recently had an opportunity to acquire adjustable cams sprockets. Instead of experimenting on my own, I would prefer the word of the wise members of this list… Looking to find out what would be the optimal intake and exhaust settings for 910 engine to be used mostly on highways and possibly track excursions? I have the High-Torque-S4s-code chip which came with the car. I also have the Red-Race-code version PUK e-prom. Engine also has triple ceramic ball bearing turbo, Alunox headers, cat test pipe and RC injectors. Cheers, Zig
  5. They are Morse cables custom built for Lotus. I would check with Bell & Colvill... http://www.deroure.com/partinfo.asp?MAK=0&MDL=0&TBL=0&SMA=0&SMO=0&ST=A082F6551S&SC=1&PBID=330727 Factory cables for my S4S were listed at £71.40 Price (each) Part Number: A082F6551S (yours probably have a different part numbers) Description: CONTROL CABLE-GEARCHANGE (SP) You are on the same side of the pond as Bell & Colvill is... so shipping and duty clearance charges will not double the costs... like it happens on my side. Cheers, Zig
  6. I used Buffalo Clutch Co. as recommended Keny (89esprit ) in previous post (attached below). Craig from Buffalo Clutch said that my pressure plate fingers were too worn out to rebuild, but they did use my clutch disk to rebuild it as 16 puck disk. 7. Alunox design of the latest version of Esprit Exhaust Manifold with CNC'd flanges they should be proud of. So far we only run into documented fitment problem on Bob Moore 83 Esprit and Jenna 83 Esprit. Can Mark Kassim intervene and assist in resolving Jenna fitment problem? Mark was the driving force in organizing this group buy and providing status updates on the project, so it seems that he has an established working relationship with Leon. I would think that Leon would actively try to resolve the fitment issues and protect Alunox name and the record of their engineering abilities from any negative feedback (which tends to stay on web forever) and may impact future business opportunities. Hopefully Alunox will step up and honor their warranty (though the warranty has been reduced from 2 years of last group buy to 1 year this time). Zig
  8. You can always have clutch disk rebuilt or modified using 16 pucks... (see picture) and just buy pressure plate and clutch bearing. Zig
  9. I am considering implementing Ram Air modification to my S4S. OEM air ducts reconfiguration provides direct path to air cleaner by bypassing fender chamber which acts as the muffler chamber. Chamber also serves as moisture extractor during rain keeping air filter element dry. My main concern is with possible water issue in Ram Air configuration. Can someone who already has Ram Air setup provide feedback regarding driving during rain? Thank you in advance. Zig
  10. Scanning e-Bay listing for Esprit Parts, in case something interesting is listed for my S4S... I came across this listing: Hi-Torque Org. Friction Plates for Dual Clutch Assembly V8,V8GT Lotus Esprit UN1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hi-Torque-Org-Friction-Plates-for-Dual-Clutch-Assembly-V8-V8GT-Lotus-Esprit-UN1-/332062718542?hash=item4d507afa4e:g:R~0AAOSwImRYSKv-&vxp=mtr Price is very reasonable for a new matched set of V-8 plates. Hopefully someone here needs a set. Zig

  12. £30 is not the only reason I avoid UPS Gorillas like a Black Plague. Period. They destroyed enough unique automotive parts I bought and... the ones which were especially irreplaceable.. they lost!!! That is why I stopped using them for any shipments both within US and internationally. Zig (with the BASIC Forum Account)
  13. To top-plumber The holder of the FULL Forum Account. After month and half from my original post and allusion to my BASIC Account level I am forced to attached the original e-mail I got directly from Leon Pierce which stated that the shipping would be with DHL. Changing to UPS It was unnecessary waste of over 30 quids (or more in some cases) per each order. ================================================== Leon Pearce <[email protected]> Aug 19 at 12:36 AM To Zig Gluszek Aug 19 at 12:36 AM This message contains blocked images. 14. FYI... Looks like a great enhancement for all S4, S4S and V-8s... UN1-026/27 "Holloway" kit - GROUP BUY UN1-026/27 "Holloway" kit - GROUP BUY LotusTalk - The Lotus Cars Community Just heard from my shop....Installation was smooth an uneventful. He commented on how well made and comprehensive the kit is. Strongly recommend!! At the same time, installed a new clutch, Quaife Unit (a no brainer if you doing the Halloway upgrade), as well as new 1st and 2nd gear synchros. JAE sells a seal kit which includes all necessary parts. My installer commented how smooth the car shifted and, in particular, noted how much more usable 1st and 2nd gear is with the new ratios.Highly recommend the upgrade! Revolution Motorports in Agoura Hills, CA (included in the list MRDANGERUS made above post) completed the install and are now intimately familiar with the kit. Can't wait until I install mine! Zig

  16. Aron, What mods did you want incorporated? The list shows standard Stevens manifold order... 22) @ATSAaron - Stevens manifold -TX, USA Zig
  17. To further relive turbo weight stress on headers I decided to add another header support turnbuckle referenced to two transmission bolts. It will utilize the spare attachment point ALUNOX machined on turbo flange and utilize a custom bracket.. ALUNOX header to bell-housing mount support - parts... Spherical bearings from UK: M8 X1.25mm Male Rod End Rose Joint Right Hand Thread 8mm Bronze Liner MMSAK8B ( 161231127784 ) M8 x1.25mm Male Rod End/Rose Joint Left Hand Thread 8mm BRONZE LINER (MMSAKL8B) ( 161257865667 ) 316 Stainless Steel M8 Turnbuckle from China: (Will shorten turnbuckle if necessary) 316Stainless Steel Closed Body Jaw Jaw Turnbuckle M5 to M16 Header support studs: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200893751675 Any 316, 324 or Inconel M8 1.25 stud will work, but I liked this set... These 316 stainless studs are a good starting point to have them machined to fit 8 mm rod bearings. The 316 studs I picked allows for tightening stud to the header using the hexagon surface it incorporates. This surface will allow me to use a wrench to hold and prevent the stud from rotating when removing or installing the nut holding rod end in place. Preventing stud from unscrewing or over tightening will save manifold threads from thread galling and possibly seizing, which is the common problem when using stainless steel to stainless thread surfaces. The 10 mm step I will re-machine down to 8 mm to perfectly support rod end. By leaving short 10 mm spacing step at hexagon surface and slightly angle cutting hexagon I will be able to create a gap which will allow tie rod head to rotate freely. Ordered all parts today. Prices were great... less than $35 total! Zig
  18. Mark, Please see if you can locate the proper installation procedure and let ALUNOX review and make any installation changes for this latest version of the exhaust manifold. BTW... I played a bit with uninstalled manifold trying to figure out the best method of turbo installation. I noticed that manifold flange was drilled and threaded with a larger diameter tap then the OEM Lotus cast iron manifold and turbo were designed for. Was it ALUNOX design/manufacturing error?. This forced me to use the Allen bolts provided instead of the new OEM stud set I had. Allen head bolts need to be inserted from the bottom of the manifold flange. Some required a lot of wiggling and twisting by hand before bolts allowed to be fully inserted. Turbo then needed to be slowly and evenly lowered while attachment nuts were being threaded on the bolts. Analyzing the difficulties involved in turbo installation and then proper turbo tightening... it is likely that this will force me to consider bolting turbo on the headers first and then try to install the headers with turbo as one unit. Zig
  19. My manifold arrived fully assembled and perfectly aligned. 4 primaries double wall flanges are sealed together with red sealant... what is probably a high temperature compound. Before I start undoing ALUNOX assembly work and tear manifolds to loose pieces... I really need ALUNOX to confirm that this is the requirement and the correct installation procedure... not someone's assembly guide for previous generation manifold.. Zig
  20. Did you followup with UPS Customer service and have them explain what is going on and fix your delivery nightmare? If UPS screwd up the delivery records and showed 3 delivery attempts or location not found then they will send shipment back to clearing house and they might even return it to sender. You need to intervene and get them straighten this mess. UPS Customer Service number is 1 (800) 742-5877. Wishing you good luck and patience dealing with UPS morons... Zig
  21. Did you order the whole exhaust system or just a header? For header you would do $38.88 donation only. The whole system is another ball of wax...
