Popular Post AURICOM
Hello. Recently my father passed away, not sure if any of the classic Lotus owners know of him, Harvey Henderson. The car is now in my possession and since it's a right hand drive I'm skeptical on how to drive it. Also how do I put the Elite into reverse? If anyone has any information for me just shoot me an email. dylanh3@hawaii.edu 2
ramjet
Welcome to TLF Dylan. Sorry to hear about your father. As far as the RHD bit goes, it should just take a bit of getting used to. Pedals are the same orientation, you just need to remember the the centre of the road is NOT on your side of the car. Couple of days and you'll be loving it. You have a great handling car in the Elan. The Europa looks very tidy as well. Any questions or issues with using the forums, feel free to ask one of us mods. We're here to help. ChrisJ
Welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear about your father Dylan. I find the changing gear with the wrong hand and the rear view mirror being on the wrong side the hardest things when changing from RHD to LHD. Michael - Too much Christmas spirit already as that be a type 14 Elite not an Elan. Looks lovely, great colour. Chris
PAR
Yep, lovely Elite There’s. Don’t think it is an original colour on this Europa but looks quite nice. Condolences to you and your family. i own both LHD and RHD cars and as I remembered, it only took few days for me to get used to it. A bit of banging the right hand into the door when trying to change gears and then learning the distances with the car so if you take it slowly for a few weeks, you will then be able to enjoy it. ramjet
Yes it is an Elite. And I am officially an idiot. <insert dunce emoticon here> Does the "I was tired." excuse get me anywhere? 1 Quote All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit. Parramint
Hi Dylan, So sorry to read of your loss, although your dad had great taste in cars. The Elite has been a favourite of mine for a lot of years. May I make a suggestion that you join Lotus Ltd, North America’s largest Lotus Owners Club. Quite a few Elite owners in the club and would be more than helpful to offer any advice or help you might need in the future. Kind Regards Richard
Kimbers
Hi Dylan and welcome! Anything you need please don't hesitate to ask a Moderator. Sorry to hear of your loss. Does the Elite have a Dogleg "old style" British gearbox? If so Reverse is often where "First gear" normally was Quote Possibly save your life.
