Brake Caliper Bracket Bolts...

Recommended Posts

Ie the 2 bolts holding the caliper adapter on to the front hub.

Are these set screws or shoulder (normal) bolts - I know they are M12 x 35mm but I am sure they have a plain shank on them and NOT set screws for some reason - can anyone confirm this please ?

They should be a partially threaded Hex head cap screw. Not a shoulder bolt, as the shoulder diameter is larger than the thread, and you might not be able to get any that would fit.

The unthreaded section will be stronger than a fully threaded bolt.

Excellent - thanks for the info Travis, thats put a niggle to rest !

I did mean part threaded as opposed to shoulder (long day) - I did wonder becuase when I put the steering arm on I had a failure on both the spring washers and the set screw's actually bent quite badly where as the part threaded was un-affected.

Odd that the AP caliper set I have uses set screws, same diameter, but they look like a different grade steel to me.
