Lotties Back!

Recommended Posts

Collected my '83 Turbo today - 160 mile journey home - car transformed!!! ;)

Will write a full report on what's been done shortly - but I feel like Ive got a new car!

Oh - and I'd forgotten just how conspicuous an Esprit is B)

Steve - if your reading this - your team have done a stunning job - would recommend SJ Sportscars most highly...

Anyways,

For now - here's some pix - if anyone's going to SuperCar Sunday - I'll see you there...

Still some stone chips - but that was because I had to call a halt at some point! Oh - and as well as full mech overhaul - she's got new carpets and numerous trimmy bits. Steve has had the exterior restored to original spec will black strips anf Turbo Esprit decals - I think it looks the business now - just don't ask me to add up the bill...

Oh - and a big thank you to Ian (mayesprit) who I've never met - but PM'd me last night with the offer of a lift from Exeter Station to Crediton if I needed it - further proof (if any were needed) taht the nicest, most genuine people, drive Lotus cars :)

At SJs this am...

Catch you later...

Iain,

Looks gorgeous mate. ;)

You're a lucky man. Money well spent.

Please don't post anymore pics. I'm already begining to regret selling my lovely fully restored silver S3 turbo :crybaby:

See you and yours at Supercar Sunday

looks super , see you at supercar sunday

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Thanks all for the kind words - she's not 'mint' - but very fit for purpose - with a slight patina of age - just how I like 'em...

Wayne - what can I say - that song sums up how I felt driving home today: ;)

I just took a ride

in a silver machine

and I'm still feeling mean

I got a silver machine

Do you want to ride

see yourself going by

other side of the sky

Well I got a silver machine

It flies sideways through time

It's an electric line

To your Zodiac sign

It flies out of a dream

It's anti-septically clean

You're gonna know where I've been

In my silver machine

:)

Then there's (dare I admit it) the David Essex song - Silver Dream Racer:

I've a dream, silver dream machine.

Here am I, I'm going for another try,

Flying high, I've got a lot of love inside.

Is there love enough now to get me through?

Yeah, I know now where I'm going to -

Not to lose now but to win;

Tell me, how do I begin?

I've a dream, silver dream machine.

Well, alright, I've got a lot of love to try,

'Cos love is the thing,

And freedom is the word I sing.

Is there force now, yeah, to get us through?

Yeah, it's deep in me and it's deep in you -

Not to lose now but to win,

Tell me how do I begin?

I've a dream, silver dream machine;

Silver dream, silver dream machine.

Is there love enough now to get me through?

Yeah, I know now where I'm going to -

Not to lose now but to win;

Tell me how do I begin?

I've a dream, silver dream machine;

Silver dream, silver dream machine;

Silver dream, silver dream machine.

Yeah - seemed to make a lot of peeps smile when we were stuck in traffic on the M5 this evening...

Oh - and I was in convoy with my wife in her Landrover - so cruising @55/60 - there'll be a few Caravanners this evening recanting tales of overtaking a Lotus Esprit I can tell you!

And 10 out of 10 to the wee laddy at the services - heard to shout out loud - Daddy, Daddy - look - a Lotus Esprit! He looked about 8 - obviously well educated! :yes

Oh - and for those that sold their Silver G Turbos - here's another couple of pics ;)

IMHO I think silver is one of the best G car colours - it accentuates the curves!

No - seriously.... :)

Looking fantastic, and fingers crossed good weekend weather to catch up on some serious driving. 8 years???? That's a hell of a long time to be without your Esprit. We were without our current one for around 10 months when it went spectacularly wrong.....I had to be virtually surgically removed from it when it finally returned!

Just because you can, does'nt mean you should.
