Hi one and all,

Just looking for some opinions. I have just purchased from BlackCircle (Great value) a pair of Toyo Proxes T1-R (Reinforced) to go on the back of my GT3.

Just wondering if anyone runs these tyres and how good they are?

BlackCircle had them down as Mid-Range tyres where the Dunlop 9000 are labelled as Premium. On inspection of both tyres on the websites, it looked to me like the Toyo's were better tyres.

Any thoughts?

They are great tyres, really grippy in the dry and ship a lot of water out in the wet so work well when it's not ideal weather too. They wear well as well, good choice :realmad:

Thanks. They were more expensive then the Dunlop 9000's but I am a great believer in 'you get what you pay for'. Plus I loved the way the tread looked

I have Toyo T1Rs on my fronts and will be on the rear when its time, I also have them all round on my daily drive (BMW 5 series) Renu my partner has them on her daily drive as well (BMW 330) seem really good tyres and my local depot is cheaper than Black Circles

Thanks Howard.

I have already bought my 2 back tyres though when I need to replace the two front ones, you will have to let me know where this depot is.

Hi Chats , I have had the Toyo on several cars and always found them to improve the ride and handling, recommending them to many.

When I read on here that some of the V8 boys were less than happy with them, I checked out the ratings for the Toyos ,and the T1-R tyres were very highly rated as opposed to the type used on the V8 ,Trev.

I have the Toyo T1-R's on my SE Route alloys and my S4s OZ Futuras - they are grippy.

I am considering to choose ADVAN (division of YOKOHAMA tires) in my next changes.

**I currently have FALKENs in the front, & ADVANs in the rear.

I notice the latest LOTUS ELISE uses ADVAN (with a special model no. for LOTUS ELISE only)

if I do choose ADVANs, shall I go for the "LOTUS ELISE only ADVAN tires?

(I heard there is different in ride quality than standard ADVANs)

As of 5.30pm today, two Toyo tyres for my rear been ordered and should be fitted Saturday. Not used before, but hear good things -

I found out the LOTUS only ADVAN has the words, "LTS" , after the model name of the tire.

Anyway, I have read more information. I think "Bridgestone" may be a better tire than both ADVAN and TOYO

but the prices are not cheap.

why does everybody talk about the dunlop 9000 and not the 8000

they are much better

my next tyres will be the yokohama advan 048 / or the michelin pilot sport cup or pirelli assymetrico corsa

nothing beats that

all the rest is nice for shopping

i also cant understand people mounting 2 different types of tyres on front and back

the handling on wet and dry can be totally different. that with a car so powerfull is looking for trouble.

Well I now have my Toyo Proxes T1-R on the rear and have done the recommended 500 miles to wear them in. Really like them. Great grip and did some motorway driving in the wet the other day. Car feels a lot more stable then before and the grip is a great deal better.

Very Happy with my purchase!

Also Rens, I am planning on putting Toyo Proxes T1-R on the front as well but just managing my budgets at the moment and don't have the cash to justify changing them at this moment. Will do when I free up more funds as the GT3 has some other stuff that needs doing. Purely changed the back ones as they were not a matched pair (from the last owner) and one was more worn and my MOT is due next month.

haha.actually my tires were sold to me with the alloy rims...so it's not my idea to have 2 different brands of tires in front & rear.

anyway, they only have 50miles on them, so I will use them for a while before I change to Bridgestone tires.

if you have 2 different threads on the same axel you can even have a problem with your insurance company.

with a softer or harder tyre or different pattern you will have a difference in handling left/Right

this works the same with front/back. you will get extreme over or understeer

But !

You wont notice it when you only use your car to go up and down to the shopping mall
