That’s shite - seriously - contact por about it.

id opt for galv all day long - but - another product mentioned above I know is very good indeed. I know a few people whom have used it with great results. Buzzweld do seem to be good to deal with as well

Honestly chap - you took that well - I’d have been sobbing uncontrollably

I used POR15. I am very sorry for you I know how much effort went into this. I used all of their products  marine clean, metal prep, PoR 15, primer and then TOP coat. I havn't had a problem with adhesion. Having seen Dave Lisles results with a jig and galvanising I think I would now bin this and have it dipped. Maybe ask Dave if he would supervise it for a fee?  Galvanising is risky unless you have a jig and pick the correct people to do it. I trust Dave knows exactly what he is doing. A lot of so called professionals really havn’t got a clue and make excuses when it goes wrong, leaving you with the nightmare.

Good luck with whatever you choose. Once again very sorry it failed I really don't know why. Its a lot of effort to carry out the process. Degreasing took me weeks! Immersing it for 20 mins in metal prep is tricky. I did it with a hand spray continuously wetting it. Looking back on the time and effort galvanising or powder coating is much much easier and will take a tiny fraction of the time.

Your doing a great build and I look forward to seeing the end result. Forget about the mishaps and press on I have had my fair share, I just carry on till its done.

I have used Flag rust converter in the past on the land rover, it bonds well leaving a matt black finish. Might be an alternative?

Have the front lower wishbones been galvanised? If so, were the galvanisers confident any distortion would be minimal? I was going to paint my wishbones but may reconsider this if galvanising works OK for them.

Fresh rubber for the new wheels.

Looking forward to getting those mounted.   It will be a while before they are needed though.

Straight Zinc plating for the hubs, uprights, brake brackets and steering arms.

Zinc chromate for the other brackets, shims, spacers and studs.  The trailing arms were zinc chromate'd by mistake - they were planned to be straight zinc plated, but the extra protection there is fine.

For the chassis, I'm seriously considering a cathodic dip coating as opposed to re-galvanising.  The chassis is being blasted at present and then I will need to decide which route to take.
