Front Damper Assy Removal

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Decided to strip out my front dampers this week to get them cleaned and repainted. Wow dont they rust! Anyway, after lots of messing around with what looked a simple job, I ending up loosening the lower link pivot bolts and undoing the top ball joint to get enough travel to get the damper assy out. With a struggle. Even with the lower links loosened, suspension travel is limited. I noticed the Anti Roll Bar was straining a bit, even though I had both sides in the same state. Should i have dropped the ARB first? I need to get some more travel before i put my nice shiny units back in. Dont want to scratch them!

Dave.

I dropped the ARB... that was enough... The first side I did... I took off the lower a-arm as well... then I found out that wasn't necessary... just the ARB.

Modifying esprit's.. now that's fun..

PS... I AM NOT A CERTIFIED MECHANIC.. I Have chosen to help those in need, in the past and must not be construed as being a certified technician.
