Bravo73 1,295
TBF, the T130 probably deserves a thread of its own. I suspect that it will never graduate to a ‘dedicated section’ on TLF.
NedaSay 835
The more I look at the CFD airflow video, the more I think that somehow the renders of Autocar are not that wide of the mark... actually it does look a bit like the lotus hot wheels from years ago: But with a lot more tricky aero elements down low to keep the upper body absolutely clean. The glass canopy is going to be something else altogether if they somehow manage to get it built and homologated, It looks to be sculpted by the wind with a very very clean airflow pattern on the tail. Can't wait to have more details about the thing.
ramjet 1,086
I just went through the video pausing it as I went until I caught it and stopped it where there is a car covered in moving laser lines. That looks very much like an Evora. What I did notice thought was what Nico mentioned which is the airflow smoke. You can see the line that goes across the top of the bonnet between the tyre and the fender, but behind the fender. A wheel with a mudguard that is open on both sides. I've been racking my brain to recall another car that is like this. I'm sure there is a car like this (not in Aus though), but I can't remember it. Like the front end of an Ariel Atom but without the turny mudguards over the wheels. NedaSay 835
Actually from the cfd airflow i think the Type 130 may explore a very free flowing air circulation around the carbon tub safety cell cockpit and may push the envelop to the point of this : The Vanda Dendrobium which coincidentally has been developed in collaboration with Williams A.E. The Type 130 maybe a bit more refined stylized in terms of upper body slick lines, the other cars having these kind of airflow are the AM Valkyrie which may be the closest all around thing to it. and also the Ford GT major difference with these last two is of course the absence of internal combustion engine and the difference with the Dendobrium which does use the Williams A.E Skate is that the Type 130 is going to lay on a Lotus own chassis, but it will share the Williams A.E propulsion architecture of the Vanda. and as a result possibly some of the characteristics of the Dendrobium For more info on the Vanda Dendrobium : Edited April 18, 2019 by NedaSay 1

NedaSay 835
Dont forget the Rimac C2 And obviously the Tesla Roadster Which is supposed to retail at a much lower price point and in much higher quantities.
Bee 85
True, but I think it will be the Battista which people will primarily compare it with - just on name alone. I suppose we'll see group tests with all three! The Sun claims a Lotus insider has told them the Type 130 will top Pininfarina's 1,900 horses, while Evo claim Lotus are aiming to keep the weight below 1,000kg. Could be interesting! The Tesla Roadster is starting at $200,000. It will be interesting to see how close in performance it is to the Battista, Rimac 2 and Type 130. I wouldn't count on it necessarily matching any of them for aero, handling etc. but it has the potential to be a real fly in the ointment! Actually, I can't especially see any standout aero on the Rimac or Pininfarina so that may well be how the Type 130 truly distinguishes itself. Looking forward to the London reveal... Bee 85
Illuminated name badging - no idea why but it turns me into a giddy child again! But then, I still think flip-up headlights instantly add a veneer of 'coolness' to almost any car! Really looking forward to seeing this: I'm sure the design language will deliver many cues on what's to come from the next generation. I can really see this project garnering a great deal of hype and anticipation; it really 'is' the launch of new Lotus...

The number of cars to be produced is higher than what I thought it would be, I guess the new VIP sales team has been able to secure quite a few hefty deposits. The car will be presented a week after Goodwood FOS, I guess Lotus do not want to share the spotlight and are pretty confident the car will create its own news cycle. RichardC 124
Light up letters. Cool, but on second thoughts, isn't illegal to show white lights on the rear of a vehicle (other than reversing lights)? Agree that pop-up headlights should make a come back.
Smapmap 147
I'm really excited by this. The silhouette looks amazing - the air is actually passing through the car (wheel arches etc) so I suspect the aero will be mental. Loving the teasers so far. Interesting to see no round lights at the back - first time in about 20 years!? So good to see Lotus getting back on it's feet and getting the investment it needs. Yeah, I thought that - only white lights at the front and red at the rear (along with amber for the indicators, obviously). I'm guessing either that's where the No. plate will go (it's between the rear lights) and it's just there to look great on the promos; it's actually the reversing light (that would be pretty cool); it can change colours for different territories and their respective laws (e.g. red for the UK); it's a 'show mode' feature (i.e. for posing only); or Lotus are utilising some loophole (not above a certain brightness etc.) Yet another reason for some July 16th anticipation! Nico, I think it looks like the hinging mechanism for some active aero too!
