Welcome to the forums Conner,

Great looking project,   Yes the glovebox is cardstock as standard lol,    Make sure you change the cambelt asap before attempting to run the engine again or it will require another rebuild as it will be extremely fragile due to age and especially in your hot climate.

If you are happy with the paintwork that is a bonus as that is what is the pain with lotus cars and becomes expensive during the resto,

Just a retrim, tyres ,suspension, brakes and interior hopefully.

P.S    Also change out the banjo washers and the fuel line to the twin carbs as this is a common fire hazard and many old esprits have bben lost to this.  Also fuel tanks are prone to rust on the esprit also

Play it safe,  cambelt and fuel line bits and you will be in the safe zone,  :)

Good luck and enjoy,  Keep us posted,

Great car by the way,  S2 is in my eyes the best looking Esprit model

Welcome Conner,

Like others here I'm up to my elbows in restoration work and will be sure to offer any advice I can as you request. Excellent car, but take good note of words of caution regarding engine operation!

Cheers

Thanks for the advice! I discovered yesterday the water pump was the source of a strange noise and water leak, so I'll be lifting the engine anyway and I'll replace everything I can get my hands on.

Here are some better pics of the car

I finally got the water pump out, what a job! Amazingly, its still not the worst water pump I've done... now to find rebuild parts

now that its clean, I can see the alternator bracket was welded in the past and has cracked along the old welds. So now I need to decide if I want to repair it again or find a replacement.

I'm having trouble posting pictures, so you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the carnage...

@silverfrost is it me or does your Kermit profile look more depressed since you wrote that reply?

That's one of the sexiest rear ends I've seen on an Esprit, don't know how you manage with such a long distance relationship😢
