Suddabym 493
Thank you Julian73 for explaining the why behind the Federal Evora GT. I did rather wonder when it appeared on FB. At first glance it does look like a 400 reversed into a 430, but I get it now. I think it looks pretty awesome. I’m kinda bummed out that we aren’t getting it here. What I find hard to believe is that there is anything structural behind the bumper in that spot. *** Edit*** oh sweet, they are not bonded to the car body except through the license plate screws, Thank You Lotus Gods. name_bran 21
@andyj007 they’re US mandated bumper stops that some cars are required to have for crash test regulations is my understanding. They’ve been doing this sort of thing for years. And to be honest, they really don’t look too bad on the GT compared to a lot of other cars. The DB11 and Chiron are two of the worst examples I’ve seen in recent memory. So we should be thankful Lotus at least made them look decent. Although I suspect, like me, most owners will remove theirs immediately since they’re easily removed. Thanks for that diagram Brian!

ramjet 1,097
They are there to protect your license plate from those ugly dents when some other person reverses into your car with a tow ball on the back of their car. Really though, when you look at the potentially illegal and non-tested modifications that people in the US can do once they own their car, these would have to be the ugliest, most worthless things I have seen. Hang on, if a cyclist aims correctly, they might hit them. that would avert a far more dangerous outcome. Phew! The ones on the Bugatti are big enough to be dinner plate warmers. In the US it will essentially be an end of life refresh until the Evora is replaced. The Evora GT will soldier on alongside next year new sport car that could be unveiled in the fourth quarter of this year. The "2020 sport car" is very likely to be an Evora based Exige type car, strict 2 seater coupe/roadster. it will have all the features that will allow it to go head to head with the Boxster/Cayman and should bring some of the Elise goodness. The Evora GT is not going to receive the wing nor the front bumper due to NHTSA homologation. Lotus being still small, they decided against crashing half a dozen cars to export probably less than 1000 cars right?! The Evora GT is called GT410 Sport in the rest of the world and It will just take an ECU reflash to unlock the 430 bhp. Who knows, that is just speculation. It could be a heavier/bigger version of the Evora but more refined to satisfy the fat bods of Americans that never fitted on the Elise, Exige and have trouble with the Evora. Dealer have all the pricing info on options/standard equipment, but suffice to say when price was dropped $21k some prior standard equipment became optional, for example I understand the carbon pack is now $10k (for roof, front access hatch, rear hatch & differed surround). Before trashing people, due some research. Rather than just certify all cars to the toughest CARB regulations, Lotus is offering the cars in two certified configurations, 416 and 422. And that is from the same dealer source. Now what that physically means?, if you have a 416 car and live outside of CARB regs (i.e. not in states of California, New York,Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, & DC.) can a 416 car easily be turned into a 422 car with a software change, or is hardware too?
