Difference Between S4 - S4s Clutch & Transmission

Recommended Posts

I'd like to know if there's a difference between the clutch/transmission of an S4 to an S4s.

I know the transmission is improved on the S4 (after the SE) to a high torque transmission, but is it the same transmission & clutch as it's used in an S4s ?

One thing I've noticed as well, is that my gear stick is feeling a bit warm after a long drive(normal driving style). Is it normal ? Never noticed that on my SE ... Friend of mine (bosbon) suggests a worn rubber (if I understood well)

Ahm, I have the same, but I feel it is coming from the water/oil ducts running to the front.....

Hot water and oil running under there. Probably the rubber gaitor is split which is under the leather gearstick gaitor.

Freek

Thanx Freek, I'll check it out ... I'll keep this updated

Hi,

The S4s clutch is much different from the S/SE/S4/GT3-clutch. The S4s-clutch cover has a different bolt pattern and the diaphragma springs are quite stiff on the release actuator. Thats why it is quite hard to operate.

Why are you asking that question ?

Are you thinking about usuing a S4s clutch in your car ?

Apart from the fact that a S4s clutch would not fit to your flywheel it would be not a good upgrade ... actually its a bad trade off. IMHO the S4s clutch is: too expensive, too hard to press and too unreliable

The S4s has a thinner lightened flywheel and the clutch cover is upgraded from I believe 7400 NM to 8400NM.

I am looking for a new flywheel for my S4s can anyone help?

Regards Mike
