Turbo Dellorto Idle Jets

Recommended Posts

Hi

Would anyone know the diameter of the idle jet on a standard 1983 S3 Turbo?

Mine have become Kacked up after standing a number of years, and the car wouldn't run without the choke on.

I've poked some v.small wire through & the car now runs & will rev, but still has a misfire - like one's still blocked.

I want to run a drill bit through by hand, but obviously dont want to take any metal away.

Just need to know what diameter of drill to use.

Thanks

I believe anywhere from 52 to 58. The larger tend to help transition onto the main circuit and the smaller if you have to pass a smog test.

Hi David, funnily enough I have just had mine changed.I dont have the manual to hand at the moment but I think they should be 40 thou.( I am guessing the figures are imperial,no doubt somebody will confirm!!) but I was having starvation problems and ended up having them drilled out to 48,I know it sounds drastic but the difference was amazing. We took them to 45 first but not much improvement, but the extra 3 really did it.Dont really know why it had to be done but the problem occured after a carb overhaul.

Cheers Paul.

(84 Turbo, dont know if there is a difference!)

HI,

I have all the info about the Dell'orto carbs also for the Turbo Esprit.

I will send you a PM as soon as possible with the info you need, meanwhile I send you the list of spares available from a specialist.

I have bought from him two kits for the rebuild of my carbs and he's a very kind and helpful person.

If you want you can ask directly to him what you need.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Are you sure it's the idle jets? If the car has been standing it could be something else in the fuel system. Do you have to pull out the choke so far that the fast idle cam is engaged and it's not the mixture just that the idle speed is too slow?
