Hi guy's, this is my first post...

I'm in the process of purchasing a 350s. The car is currently fitted with silver forged wheels. Firstly I don't like silver and secondly I'm not sure if I like the style as much as the 5 spoke design. However I know the forged wheel is a premium option.

The dealer has offered to swap them over to black 5 spokes at no additional cost.

Do I;

A. Get em swapped.

B. Keep em on, I know a great powder coating guy who will do the set for £250...

Many Thanks

I used to prefer the look of the 5 spokes (and they are easier to clean) but I think it would be crazy to swap forged for cast without some cash back -the forged wheels are worth quite a bit more. Nowadays I much prefer the look of forged and given the choice it's silver all the way for me!

I've read that it's not advisable to powder coat forged wheels, the heat treatment (during manufacture) of them is crucial to their strength and heating/cooling them for the powder coating process could cause problems.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your new car :thumbup:

The forged wheels are way more expensive and about 8 kg lighter.. Keep them in any case.

Yes, this is what's messing with my head as I know it's a premium option and also better for performance and handling but cosmetics matter to me too 😕

B. Keep them, but get dealer to do a colour change - so it is all done when you collect.

& I think that’s one colour that suits silver wheels! Bit of brake dust & you’ll be fine 😀

Me too! I will put bid @RoflOnMyWaffle 😂

seriously though, keep the forged and change the colour. The design will grow on you. Or sell them / swap plus cash to the person who gets the forged wheels.. you could make  but money from that very easily.

@Mark:

with this color, if you can, do a test with photoshop of the different colors (silver, black, matt black and possibly anthracite or other)

In that case get yourself down to Debenhams or to one of the put of town Boot's stores. The No.7, Clinique and Max factor girls will sort you out!

Collection day is this Saturday, getting pretty excited! I've kept the forged wheels and the dealership has had them powder coated dark gunmetal for me. I've also had the massive union flag motifs removed. I may add some more subtle subdued ones to the fin end plates later..

I suspect I will catch upgraditis within quite a short period of time as I did with my current toy!

 Like the wheel colour. Makes a difference from black and is way better in silver.

Enjoy your new car 😀

Nice car!  The Nautilus Blue is a great colour - and the gunmetal wheels set it off far better than the Silver.

Aims, Matt and the Tech’s at Silverstone will certainly look after you.
