Edinburgh 111s 101
Why the rubber edge to the sills ? Not sure I like that... although everything else on your car looks outstanding

Popular Post MAG 458
Sooo, attended HPE automotive today, had the nitrons bolted on. Have to say Dan's a top man! Nitrons went on first, then he did corner weighting, she weighed in at a healthy 1129kg with 2/3 of a tank fuel 😁 she was fairly well balanced to begin with having only about 7kg difference between axles. Next up was geo, front end was good and we left ride height the same as with the Eibach lowering springs; 135 front and 140 rear. Rear needed some work though as things were a little out. Then we moved onto Alias23 carbon side scoops. Install was fairly straight forward following Imrans comprehensive instructions but as the carbon outer shells required bonding on we couldn't attach them as didn't want them coming off before the adhesive had .set on the drive home. Got home and had to try finishing off the install, I've used 3M tape for now and given it a good yank. The advantage being that I can probably prize it apart if required as it still needs a little fettling on the passenger side. On the drive home the ride was very impressive. More compliant but also more on rails through the bends. For now they're set to the mid point for rebound and I'm quite happy with that to be honest.
Woots 71
Nice work! What've you done with your old set of side scoops? I think I’d like mine in black rather than white...

MAG 458
Not bad damage considering it came off at 60+mph on the A605 circumventing my trip to Caffeine and Machine. Not a great way to start my birthday walking 2 miles down the verge on the 605 like a panicked child looking for my car part 🙄 My fault rushing and trusting 3M tape rather than using polymer adhesive! Glad I had the PPF done though as it seems to have taken the worst of the hit. 1
Popular Post MAG 458
So adhesive instructions say apply steady pressure and sealant should be tack free in an hour, hmmm, can't be bothered to lean up against the car for an hour soooo 🤔 1
Popular Post MAG 458
I just thought I'd add a more detailed update with some notes plus the all important pics. When I went to HPE on Friday there was quite alot of work to be done, obviously the install of the coilovers, the fronts were almost just a case of bolting on but the rears required a small modification to a bush on both sides, this required shaving around 0.5mm off so that it could be packed tight with a pair of washers. This could contribute to added noise that some Nitron users seem to experience if not dealt with at the point of installation. Next was setting ride height, the car had previously sat at 135 front and 140 rear using Komotec/Eibach lowering springs and I was quite happy with this from a visual perspective. Some had suggested lowering the nose to 130 but I'd rather have the extra 5mm for the sake of loosing a splitter on a speed bump. After install the car was at 140 all round so it was obviously dropped by 5mm at the front. Next was corner weighting, Dan said 350's are in his experience quite well set up from factory and this proved to be the case with only a few small tweaks required. Finally, geo. Again, Dan said 350's are normally fairly well sorted out of the box and this was the case for the fronts but there was too much toe on the rears which would result in a sudden loss of traction rather than a progressive loss. This was of course corrected. Next was the scoop install. It was decided that we would only install the inner molding as the carbon shell need to be bonded and there wouldn't be enough time for the adhesive to set. Only issue was positioning of the carbon shell on the passenger side. It sat a little too wide. Later I was to discover it was because Dan hadn't been quite forcefull enough when pressing it into place. The result of this was a couple of holes that were too near to the edge of the sill. I corrected this with some filler and then redrilling. Application of the vinyl is quite key to making the final result look good and getting the shape cut right is important. I traced the shape using some paper and a pencil and then cut the vinyl to shape with a scalpel. Getting in precise position is key and this can be achieved with slip solution made from 1:10 baby shampoo and water. Sprayed onto the sticky side of the vinyl it allows you to manoeuvre it around before using a rubber squeegie to push out the solution. Then a little run over with a heat gun to ensure the adhesive is activated. After the carbon shell loss incident I was determined that my scoops would not suffer the same fate twice! So I used a substantial amount of sealant/adhesive and as has been seen left it compressed for a couple of hours per side to assure a good bond. One other little detail is that you can see the rivets that hold the intake pipe to the rear of the inner scoop so I gave these a little coat of black paint. All in all, now it's sorted I'm very happy with both the performance of the nitrons and the look of the scoops. It's 100 miles from me to Dan so plenty of opportunity to get a good feel... I can't speak highly enough of Dan and considering all the work he completed, the value of service is exceptional! 3

alias23 1,519
Bloody lovely @MAG I think you’ve fitted yours better than I have looking at that line at the top and alignment to the sill! Good job!!!! So happy they’ve worked out for you especially given the effort to make these just right and they definitely look right on your car with the growing number of carbon additions! 2 minutes ago, MAG said: Just take your time and do plenty of offering up the separate components As per the instructions you’ve got to get a ‘feel’ for offering them up and aligning to get it spot on and right for the adhesive part! Thanks Imran, of course Dan did the hard bits 😁 and I was foolish to try and drive the car prior to using proper adhesive but we got there in the end!

GFWilliams 1,996
It seems you've well and truly caught the bug now... I love my rear lights, really freshen up the rear end of the car

I used some that was about 8mm high and compressed nicely, which you could see from inside when tightening the nuts down. They should really come with a gasket for the Exige. PJ 82
Good suggestion, do you have a picture of yours? I have requested Greg for this development by the way.. I ordered my lights also picking them up when I'm in Vegas for business in March. Can't wait..
JCERB 36
Hi PJ, this link is what I have https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Foam-Tape-Extra-Sticky-Backed-Single-Sided-Self-Adhesive-Dark-Grey-10mm-Thick/262290323770?hash=item3d11b8b93a:m:m8CCEYIldfyK0xHDfRIT1Yg I've had my role of tape for years, but looks exactly like this stuff. I would get the 10mm wide version and cut in half down it's length to 5mm wide, this seems perfect and misses the threaded studs. Then just tape a full circle around the edge to meet the edges at the bottom. The good thing about this tape is that it compresses enough so it will only fill the areas it needs to, and the rest it pretty much presses completely flat, so the lights don't stick out any more than they would without. I don't have any pics, but they are the same as GFWilliams' and on the same colour car!
PJ 82
Thanks appreciated! Just got a message from Greg that with the new V3 he has added something similar so good news he also developed on that. Very responsive guy by the way.
JCERB 36
Good call matey! He's a good guy and they look so much better in the flesh, very vivid colour. Can't think of a cooler looking rear light setup! Look better on the V6S too, with twins 😉
