cracked pipe to carbs

Recommended Posts

Good evening guys, my 1982 S3 stopped starting - again. I was just checking the usual culprits, dizzy cap, leads etc when I noticed a cracked rubber pipe leading to the side of my Dellarto carbs. its on a brass almost right angles fitting. Following it back it disappears into the left hand side fuel tank. it looks like a breather pipe? Any ideas what it is and would this stop my car from starting?

Thanks

Gary - Garstang, Lancashire

It's the vacuum take off for the heater warm air direction flaps, there's a vacuum reservoir sitting on top of the left hand fuel tank .

Welcome to TLF Gary. :welcome:

Any cracked pipe that is on the vacuum system will allow the car to run lean. I would not expect it to stop the car from starting, but it might.

Someone else should be along who will know more about the S3 than I do.

You should duck over to the Introductions area and say hi in there as well. Make sure you have some photos to post as well. :)
