1995 Espril S4s issues, questions

Hello,

I just bought a 1995 Esprit S4s turbo from dealer.  Has many updates etc but week after I got it my brake lights are staying on all of a sudden just a few days ago.  I took the fuse out so the battery would drain with brakes lights on.  Then today when I went to move it out of garage, the antilock brake light is flashing.

When I got it from the dealer he said the A/C was blowing cold but when I try it it's not.  Any suggestions? Advice? Thank you!!

It has 79K miles again with many updates and other parts.

Esprits are famous for the brake lights staying on. Usually it's just the switch by the pedal that is out of kilter. Something that a cable tie can rectify.

Now you know why owners routinely look back at their beautiful cars as they walk away... 😁

+++++++++++

There are many threads on the Delco ABS issues here and on other forums.

If you just bought the car, can you bring it back to the dealer with your concerns? (I realize that often, the selling dealer is a 'fur piece' from where you are...)

I believe the brake light switch is a monitored component in the ABS system, therefore fuse removal would through up a code.

Sometimes you can verify that it is only the brake switch by pulling the pedal UP with your toe! If the brake lights go out its just the switch out of position.

Probably not going to affect the ABS fault light though.

just twist the brake switch out of the holder. Pull off the two spade connectors.

you can check the switch for continuity - you can carefully take it apart and clean the terminals if needed

Only here once

The brake switch is a Renault part. HTH.
