Still High Speed Cut Out

Recommended Posts

I have replaced the distributor cap with a blue one and a new rotor to match and I changed the coil to the pertronix one to match the ignition. No dice. And if you would recall, I have re-built the carbs, installed a new fuel pump, regulator and filter, and installed a pertronix igintion. The plug wires and plugs are new. The old girl will wind out first and second great but when I shift to third she cuts out at about 3500. I don't think it is a voltage problem as I hooked the coil staight to the battery. I have un-hooked the tach wire too.

Could it be the vaccuum solenoids or the throttle jacking solenoid?

Now I'm just looking for things to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!! :hope:

Do you have a way to plumb in a fuel pressure guage and tape it to the rear glass in order to have someone monitor it as you drive?

As the load increases the need for fuel goes up. Might be a start just to try to eliminate that possibility.

Thanks Jeff. I should have said that I have done that. Both on the vaccuum and boost side. And I have a brand new fuel pressure regulator.

Cheers,

Today I hooked up vacuum gauges and pressure gauges to everthing and taped all of then to back glass. I was getting no vacuum to one line and no boost to another. The vacuum lines were clogged!!!! :hope: I replaced them and now I run like a champ. It is always the simple things that screw you up the most.

Thanks for the help!!!

Cheers,

Clay
