Dash vent not blowing air. - Interior/Exterior/Lights/Glass/Alarms/ICE/HVAC - The Lotus Forums Jump to content

Recommended Posts

Hello again. First I want to thank everyone that has been helping me on some prior issues. It’s nice to have a forum like this to get assistance and advice.

I have a 1995 Esprit and 2 out of the 4 dash vents don’t blow any air out of them. I double checked and they are not closed I have the, all open  any suggestions?  Thanks again!

One Round eye one on cluster dash and one on passenger side. Left one on passenger dash.

Odd.

Have you checked to see if the hoses are connected to the heater box,? And is your vacuum pump performing as it should?

That's my guess.  The little 'dryer vent hoses' ARE prone to being kicked off (or they just all off!)

No but I will check.  Thanks

Having spent weeks staring at my heater box when doing the interior refurb, if recall correctly, the following are paired:-

  • binnacle outboard eyeball and binnacle top vent (dashboard)
  • inboard binnacle eyeball and passenger side eyeball vent
  • footwell vents
  • windscreen demist and rectangular vent

8 vents in total.

The vents you mention aren't paired. The hoses become hard over the years, and as has been said, can be kicked off. But they can also split, which isn't as apparent.

Are they hard to reach or find? Or just under the dash?

The job's easier once you've taken the seats out, and assumed the Lotus position.

The vent hose can fall off either end. Either at the central heater core or up at the vents or binnacle in the case of the drivers side defrost vent.

Is there any diagrams to find where the vents hoses are?

If you stump up for full forum membership, the parts manuals are all available. Diagrams for the heater piping are there.

In this case, it SHOULD be a 'visual'.  Just assume the Lotus position, look at the central heater area under the dash, and assure that the 'dryer hoses' are attached. As noted, the ones that come adrift are often kicked asunder.
