Wanted:Photos of S4S sport seat

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I would like to have my seat shells trimmed as same as the S4S sport seat.

Mr. Mike already helped me a lot to send some photos to me, but the trimming shop advises me to send some photos of the rear of the seats, especially the headrest area and under the headrest area to see how and where the drawstring works, and the photos of the underside of the leading edge of the cushion on the seat are needed too.

If you have the S4S sport seats in your car, would you do me a favor and send me some photos? I really appreciate it.

thank you.

Regards,

Pan

Unfortunately I can't help but I am looking for the any available infos on the S4s sports seats too ... Would you mind sharing the photos you already have? That would be quite helpful! :)

I once found a Spanish seller who have (had?) a S4s with the original sport seats but he couldn't/wouldn't take any more photos than the one in his car ad.

Alas, [email protected] is no longer a valid email address ... (I just tried to send an email and got an automatic answer from the mail server)

Pan,

Is this still relevant?

The Lotus S4s sports seats, what are they like? Are they like the GT3 with no extra seat belt holes, or more like the Sport300 or different?

Kind regards,

jacques

@Jacques > Here is a photo of the S4s sports seats (from the Lotus brochure)

So, it the shells are most probably identical to the GT3 ones, but the trimming seems specific: it looks like the sides are alcantara (?) like the doors cards, and the rest is trimmed in leather. It looks like the head rest is like a hood, inserted from the top, but I can't be sure just with this photo ... !

Okay, so I don't have that stitching. I did see this picture on a search.

I hope you find what you need.

Kind regards,

jacques

Jacques,

I think sport seats from S4s and GT3 are the same, and sport300 one is different from them, not only the extra seat belt seat. The seat shells can be still ordered from SWLC or other.

Hi Pan,

Nice pics!!!

So, I believe that the shelle you can order from various parts suppliers, are copies of the Sport300 seat Shell, not the GT3. They also offer trimming options. SJ also listed a carbon clad glass Shell, but that would just be heavier.

Mine are from a Sport300 incl the subframes, which as far as I know, nla. But subframes that resembles (more or less) can be had as well, but they are afaik not totally the same. Anyway, it's doable.

My 1990SE have different holes in the Shell floor, and I certainly did not want to drill more holes, so I attatched some small steel plates to the runners and voila, the Sport300 seats incl. subframes drop right in, despite the center xonsole being wider on an SE that on the Sport300, S4 etc.

The non-clad part of the seats are originally covered in a textures paint which is dark grey, near mat Black. I kept that in stead of having it all painted in Red as the cars' body colour.

I asked the trimmer local to me, who found a good suitable leather to Work with and that looks like the original Connolly leather, to copy the way it's made around the edge and the back.

If you need any pics, just say so, and I'll pm them over to you. Anyway, I sent you a PM.

Kind regards,

Jacques

Thank you for the photos @pan

According to this, the S300 and GT3 seats would be the same (except the holes obviously). SJs once told me they could provide the shells without the holes.

FYI I found the ad from the Spanish seller I once contacted:
https://www.automobile.fr/Voiture/x/vhc:car,cnt:,pgn:0,pgs:0,srt:,sro:,dmg:/pg:vipcar/278163233.html
The photos don't show much about the seats though. I think he patched the sides with leather.

I checked my emails and found a couple of other interesting pictures the seller has had kindly sent me (not so different from the photos you already shared though).

So it would confirm the leather part is actually only a cover on the seat, it's quite interesting. I thought at least the back rest was stitched to the fabric (alcantara?) parts, but apparently I was wrong. It's probably just held by a Velcro at the front? ^^

@davevr6car, I have just read here https://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/83652-interior-esprit-pics-wanted/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-660551that you had the sports seats instead of the free comfort seats option (I am very jealous!)

I read you wanted to have them retrimmed, have you done it in the end?  (any chance you kept the original trimming somewhere for us?)

That photo above shows the problem with light-coloured alacantara. Leather doesn’t hold you as good, but it sure looks better even after a few years.

Indeed!

On the other hand I have read it could be cleaned and brushed, but I have never tried.
