andyblackman777
Are the metal parts the ones that are sandwiched in-between the grp, at the bottom where the support stays bolt through?? One of mine is 'swelled and rusting the other is fine.
Mightymetro
This is the part I was talking about
Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted September 29, 2019 Gold FFM Report Share Posted September 29, 2019 Time to get the anglegrinder out, some flap pads, a spot of new steel and a pack of grp from Halfords 👍 Quote Only here once
Mightymetro
Is it made from 2 pieces of fibreglass and then bonded together over the steel. I found these from SJ and I guess they are like repair parts ? https://www.sjsportscars.com/parts-and-accessories/B082U7295F.htm
Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted September 29, 2019 Gold FFM Report Share Posted September 29, 2019 Make your own out of stainless and glass them in chap - it’s easier than you may think Quote Only here once
Mightymetro
Thanks Barry, so grind one layer of glass away to remove the old part and then lay over the new fabricated part? I’ve never tried fibreglass repairs. Well......I did once when I crashed my bike at Cadwell...........fairing came off in the collecting area so maybe I need to practice 😂
Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted September 30, 2019 Gold FFM Report Share Posted September 30, 2019 Yes - just make sure the rust and rubbish is all gone - use wood or cardboard to create a backing to glass onto - and use the flap pad to grind it into shape after. fjmuurling
Some pics to help. (OK it is an SE) Some threaded rods / nuts and washers make an excellent lifting device. Quote Esprit Freak
Popular Post fjmuurling
Undertray rusty brackets. Be creative with some stainless steel, cobalt drills and grinding tools, and some epoxy and glassfibre. I also made a jig first. 2 1 Quote Esprit Freak
Mightymetro
That’s fantastic help, thank you
fjmuurling
I covered the jig with self adhesive foil used for protecting the covers of books (in dutch boeklon / kaftfolie). It is cheap and more important the epoxy doesn't adhere to it. If you need more pictures just let me know. Quote Esprit Freak
andyblackman777
I went down to Serck Motorsport in Hayes yesterday. Just gotta repair the tray now. perfect timing for Freek to post up those pics. Oh and a whole load of Stainless nuts and bolts turned up in the post today. Thanks
Mightymetro
Are they fitting the fans directly to the rad frame Andy or fitting them in the cowl ?

Chillidoggy
Good grief, I didn’t recognise my own bloody doorstep! Must be old age creeping up on me! Yes, Serck did a great job for me, the old guy Roy? Ray? was really clued up. Highly recommended. Quote Margate Exotics.
andyblackman777
On the subject of cooling. Does the V8 really hold 15 litres of coolant. I've never managed to drain even close to that amount out?? Andy
Chillidoggy
The 4-cyl holds 24 litres according to my handbook. Most of that has ended up on my garage floor at some point. Quote Margate Exotics.
MD355
It's weird, on the Owner's manual of my Lotus Esprit V8, in the capacities section (page 103) it says : Cooling System - 4 cylinder : 24 liters - V8 : 15 liters This is crazy !!! That's why V8 cars overheat !! I guess the 4 cylinder cars have the charge cooler system, but still...
andyblackman777
is the chargecooler a separate system??

andyblackman777
I want to know where my remaining 5 litres is? I only got 9 out and about a litre on the floor 1 minute ago, mike_sekinger said: yes..... Wow so 24 litres in the S4!
mike_sekinger
I would expect that the heater circuit contains a reasonable amount.
