Rocker switch under steering column?

Recommended Posts

Just taking a look under my steering column today, and I noticed a black rocker switch with L and R marked on it. It appears sorta factory, but couldn’t find anything in the owner’s manual.

My mirror controls are on the driver’s door, so I’m scratching my head at this one...

Does anyone know what this is for?

What happens when you switch it?  (Don't have anyone in the Ejector Seat when you try it..😁)

How long have you owned that car? Assume that it is in OZ since it is RHD and an HCI.

Welcome to TLF Scott. :welcome:

Does your car have fuel filler covers? Can you get your hand round to the back of the switch to feel whether it has wires connected to it?

You should duck over to the Introductions area and say hi in there as well.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

I have no idea, so im not much use, but i too have the same button on my 86 s3 N/A so it must be factory. Mine had loose wires attached which i removed but im sure someone will come up with the answer soon!

That was the location of the fuel filler cover release on my X180.

Cant remember, it's been so long since it was all together and working, but i think it just disabled/enabled it.

if enabled then the arial would operate when the radio was switched on. Not sure if it went down if the switch was operated whilst in its extended position though.

someone on here will have a working one and be aware of its vagaries I'm sure

this thread might help...

Yes, the car is an Australian delivered HCI, with 17,000 km on it.
