The banks was a different issue. My view is simple, the Government steps in, if and when required, to bring people home. The government then claims the cost of doing so back from the insurance co

I have a mate that owns four travel agencies around here and does very nicely, they are slightly more expensive but they do go the extra mile I use him for all business and personal travel as they do

Thomas Cook aircraft in the air as of 1045 tonight apparently - they seem heading to UK by the look of it - possibly bad news coming, hopefully not.

And no doubt most of those planes empty bar pilots and crew.

That's an old news story from 28th August.

It would appear they republished the story last night - they have now clarified the posted story.....

Very sad but a reflection of how the travel industry has changed, plus the effects of Brexit over the past year.

My wife is in the travel industry, running her own villa rental agency and this year has been a complete write off. The majority of people now want to book 'direct' through airbnb etc and those that do want the security of using a bonded agent have been scared off making any commitment due to the constant Brexit nonsense and scaremongering in the news.

Like many retailers it looks like Thomas Cook have suffered too by being so big in a time of lower income when fixed costs can consume a business. Too many high street shops with rents, bills and staff to pay when everyone is booking direct online.

High street retail is all going the same way. The only thing people seem prepared to leave their sofas for are experiences, evidenced by the number of crammed coffee shops and restaurants in Chichester now. Buying or booking stuff in an actual shop by speaking to a human is an outdated concept it seems...

The leave vote resulted in a significant drop  in the value of the pound, which increased cost as oil/fuel is prices in dollars. However since this was over 3 years ago the problem, which seems to have been dealt with by most other businesses in the sector, points to poor management at TC. After all TC nearly went under 8 years ago.

Most of the (erroneously) reported £600 million cost of repatriation is covered by ATOL and ABTA. Cost to the taxpayer will be nearer £100 million.

It's easy to part a fool with his money.

Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate.  Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies!

The first guy to ride a bull for fun, was a true hero. The second man to follow him was truly nuts!
